I find it humorous that no other youtube based reviewer I have seen even mentions the idea of getting an APU and simply scaling up to a better GPU when the money becomes available. There are so many people that do these "low budget" builds which in my opinion are not nearly low budget enough. The fact that you invented a test bench which can be used as a case as well as noting other ways to cut costs means you truly understand that not everyone has hundreds of dollars to spend on equipment all at once. Thanks for pointing this out to those of us who have more bills than we care to admit but still want something good for our money. Heck even e-waste is better than nothing and can sometimes get you by until the next time you have a couple of bucks to invest on this type of project.
Awesome video, well made! It's easy to forget how much performance you can get for the money. Sure these won't set any records, but still being able to have a CPU, especially considering your APU argument, for these prices, you can have a lot of fun with that sort of machine.
I think AM4 is at this interesting inflection point of price and performance where, thanks to its strong legacy of value and performance, it can almost be everything to everyone. It's an interesting time for the socket.
speakin' of Ryzen 5 3600 non X, my dedicated livestreaming PC run it with a RTX 2060KO and i want to upgrade it soon maybe to a Ryzen 7 5700X or a Ryzen 7 5800X or non X if i get lucky
Precisely! By the time AMD had launched the 3300X, they had a pretty good grasp on cache size and latency and what that does to Zen's performance. The reduction in cache on the 5500 (and 4500 and 4100) is completely intentional.
I'm building a new am4 pc, by the time I'm writing this comment, I already have an a520m k mobo, rx 570 gpu, and a corsair psu. I'm still torn which cpu i should buy.
5600G wins. last week assembled pc for client without gpu. all that he needs working fine. GB A520M S2H, 2x8 SP Zenith 3200, 512 SP nvme, P450B, ordinary case(no glass) - 350$, labor 50$. undervolted - 0.1V - 4.2GHz all core boost under load with stock cooler
i wasn't sure he would also include the original cooler. only i don't know if i want to use it i doubt the oc professionalism and greatings from germany

You're very welcome. This is why I do what I do!
@@TechAmbr, fantastic! I will keep watching! Thanks again!
Budget CPUs have really come down recently, which is a huge win for those shopping in that segment.

Great point about getting an APU to get started in this price range. Really nice video overall!
Running a 5500 oc'd to 4.7gh and an undervolted rx 5700xt and its a beast.
Heck yeah!
Both cpu are same performance but i will pick R5 3600X because of pcie 4 support and use a cheap b550 mobo instead of a320 and a520.
VRCDoom!? Did not know that was a thing, interesting!!
good info I have a 1700 system that I'm looking to repurpose into a budget gaming machine. probably a 5600 or 5600x

The 5700X is an extremely compelling value right now! And fast!
Do you think the decrease in cache on the 5500 might've balanced out the increase in overall IPC that was gained over the 3600X?

3600 still sells new in sweden. 80 usd
Ja jag köpte 5500 för ungeför 981 som är värt dt den mycket bättre
@@randomgaming2383 mmmh 7% bättre högst

Thanks
i have the R5 5500 + Gigabyte GTX1080Ti turbo 11GB, in 1080p plays everything
Heck yeah!

Depend on your money. If money is no issues, better go for 5600 but if money is issue just buy cheapest between this 2 CPU
