This cadence always stuck with me. I’m a musician, and before I left for boot camp, I visited the Motown museum in Detroit. It’s a holy spot for us bassists and Motown lovers. I won’t lie in boot camp I got pretty depressed at times. Then we learned this cadence. There was something about it that just felt so familiar though I’ve never heard it before. I got a Motown feel just from the melody. It was a comforting cadence to me. I remember the day before graduation, near sunset, our AROC began this cadence. Marching loud and proud back to our ship, donning our 8 point covers, we sang this cadence. I felt almost every emotion encompass within me. I felt exhausted, sad, but most importantly, accomplished. Because at that point I could finally say, “and it won’t be long, till I get on back home”. One of the most beautiful things about music, is it makes good times better, and those hard times just a little more bearable. Bravo Zulu to all who’ve overcome the journey of becoming a sailor.
This was my favorite cadence in boot camp back in 2022! Thank you for putting this up! Just a quick note, I was marching along to it and the cadence started on the right foot. It should have started on the left - just an FYI.
I'm gonna beg to differ. 😁If a cadence has the words 'left' or 'right' in the lyrics, 9 times out of ten those lyrics are meant to be sung when the corresponding foot hits the pavement. But I'm kind of a noob, I could be wrong. Show me the instruction and I'll post a public apology 🤣
@calvey not just that - in this cadence, he said "three to the front and six to the rear" when it should be the other way around - "six to the front and three to the rear"
Espirto del corps . I love my beloved Navy ! Hooyah corepsmen up sempre fortis god im ready to go back to the fleet i tired the cilvlian life wasnt for me , i knoe the navy and my brothers and sister next to me is meant for me . honor courage commimnet
Perhaps if these are the cadences used in the training of the Best military in the World, then they can be used to motivate/inspire anyone, military or not, just sayin'
