I grew up on classic rock - Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, Clapton, Who, etc. They made some great music. But looking back in retrospect, nobody can compete with the originators. Carl, Elvis, Chuck, Richard, Buddy, Jerry Lee - what those musicians accomplished is almost impossible to comprehend from 70 years later - but they invented it all. Carl Perkins is an amazing singer, songwriter and guitarist.
Oh yeah, same here. If you ever read about the classic rock staples they generally always mention the same players you just did verbatim. That's how it is, music certainly is an inspirational thing
This man... Well, Elvis did what he did...but... this man...the fact check...there wouldn't be The Beatles without this man...So...Elvis might be the king of Rock & Roll...but this man is most definitely the King of the Rockabilly!!!! Hail to King Carl!!!
And carl is able to do solo not like Elvis Who only played by chords When You listen Elvis singing the reals guitarists are scotty moore and James burton..Who really play the technical part of the guitar in historique songs riff solo and during this time elvis moove his body. ... Are there really musicians among elvis fans.?
"Even Elvis had his idols. Here's one of them." Elvis admired his work because Elvis had great taste in music, but Carl basically switched from country (like "Movie Magg" and "Turn Around") to rock and roll on his records because of the influence of Elvis on him.
+Joseph Scott You're exactly right. I also couldn't help but notice another poster at the top of the page omitted Elvis from his 'list' of people on Sun Records who "upset the establishment". Whether he likes it or not, it's a 'given' that Elvis should top that list. In fact, Elvis put Sun Records on the map!
@@user-rr2eo7gb7z Perkins is way better than Elvis. I don't care what anyone says. Carl is way more authentic than Elvis who didn't even write his own shit most of the time and also very rarely played good leads in his younger years.
R I P Carl , You had us “Rocking & Bopping” when we young and You still are ROCKIN” US NOW !!! A buddy of mine said he heard thunder the other day but i told him...Nope , THAT’S CARL !!!!!!
Sam Phillips said that Carl Perkins was the most talented of all the great artists who came out of Sun records. That includes the likes of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and even BB King. That’s pretty high praise from someone who should know
Yes, sure, that's why Elvis triumphed until the 70s and Perkins was just an old glory from the 50s that no one remembered anymore. Sam Phillips let the king escape but could not find a replacement and it upset him.
I've read that he was in a serious car accident that put him in the hospital for months just as he was getting started. He wrote Blue Swade Shoes and while he was recuperating Elvis went and recorded it first.
Questa e' la musica che mi ha fatto innamorare dell' America, dall' Italia. Durante la guerra fredda. Ero un bambino. E mi piace ancora oggi a quasi 55 anni.
The "original" rock & roll guru. Yes, Carl certainly changed the way music is played in USA. Carl, Jerry Lee, Roy Orbison, J Cash, these are the Sun Records guys who upset the establishment. Amazing musician and guitar player. We luv him. mos60
Согласен .поздний Пиркенс смотрелся очень респектабельного и сексуально , как исполнителя можно слушать и смотреть вечно , рассуждения на эту тему не уместны.
WELL STATED, JOHN.......Carl could sit in a chair and not say a thing and would still make today’s “singers” look like beginner rejects. WE MISS YOU CARL !!

I was lucky enough to meet Carl several times after concerts in the UK. He was one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet as well as being a fabulous performer.
The man that inspired the Beatles to have a go in a band. No Carl no Beatles. Elvis was fake compared to Carl Perkins. Cheers Carl we owe you big time! (still you done well in Copyright. Where you still boppin' when Beatles Anthologies came out?).
John Lennon's Quarrymen predated the Beatles and it was Lonnie Donegan's Skiffle craze that inspired them. Your comment 'No Carl, no Beatles' is nonsense.
We love you Carl. Classic Rock fans owe you everything.

Totalmente de acuerdo todos los que nombras de los principios, de los orígenes serán los mejores
'Matchbox' was like Carl Perkins' signature song. Absolutely brilliant.
I'd say Blue Suede Shoes is his signature song

@@subg8858 Elvis stole it sadly
I'd argue Boppin the Blues is superior to both of those songs, though

Talented doesn't always equate with successful.
Mr. Perkins was a singer, songwriter, and guitarist! Talented indeed! ☮️🖖🏽
Great performance by Carl and the boys! I also enjoy seeing the woman in the audience when she realizes she's on camera!
The King of Rockabilly is Carl !! it's not me who says this is johnny...Cash.

He was doing the rock n roll version of Blue Moon of Kentucky since the 40s that Elvis made famous too. Elvis just beat him into the studio.
