The actor who played Mike Barnes actually had an internal injury from one of the first scenes he shot and after a hospital visit and a couple weeks off came back and shot the rest in a lot of pain and risking further complications. The original idea was to have Kreese return as the main antagonist, but Martin Kove had a conflict with his schedule, so they subbed in Terry Silver and put Kreese on the periphery giving Kove a schedule he could work with. Definitely glad that happened. And the mindblower... Ralph Macchio is older than Thomas Ian Griffith, the actor who played Silver.
It actually makes more sense for them to be just friends..Ali had dumped him... And Kumiko wasn't coming either.. That was two serious dumpings in less than 3 months..
I also heard that orginally Silver wasn't going to be a martial artist master. But when they cast Thomas Ian Griffin they found out he had black belts in Karate and taikwondo. So that helped in making his part bigger

Cobra Kai took a crappy movie and made it better after the fact. It filled in a lot of plot holes and explains stuff that did not make sense because KK3 was so disjointed. Almost none of the people responsible for KK3 wanted to do the movie at the time. Ralph Macchio did not want to do it but was obligated to because when he signed his contract to do KK1, it stipulated that he must do it at least 3 movies if they ever made sequels. As for the writer of KK3, Robert Kamen, he wanted to write a totally different story, about Mr. Miyagi going back in time to the beginning of how Miyagi karate came to be back in China. However, the studio rejected that idea, so Kamen had to quickly come up with another story in a short amount of time. Also, Martin Kove, the actor who played Kreese, had to fulfill his obligation to his role on a TV show he was filming at the time, so he was not fully available to film KK3. That is how the character of Terry Silver came to be born as the main villain of KK3. In conclusion, KK3 was just done for the money and was a terrible movie that made little sense. But Cobra Kai took all of that mess that was KK3 and made it epic almost 40 years later.

As a karateka that practices a somewhat traditional karate (SKIF) as well as sport points based karate, let me tell you, this isn't really that far off from reality (Daniel winning the tournament, I mean). At this point in time, Daniel has been practicing karate for a little over a year. That's a beginner by every measurable account. I've been doing it for a little over 5 years, and progression has been as fast as the rules will allow (save for the pandemic that set me back about a year because of the lockdowns), and I'm still brown belt. 2 or 3 more years minimum to reach black. And yet, I was still a white belt when I won my first tournament, against more experienced karateka. It was a mix of luck and dedication. In Daniel's case, it's a mix of a good teacher and good plot armor. In this last fight, Barnes could have won, easily. He's a way more experienced fighter, and a more brutal one. And Daniel's mind was "poisoned" with fear. It would have been easy if not for the revenge issue, which made Barnes lose every point he got so they could keep on torturing Daniel. What gave Daniel the win began with him making a kata. Look at the kata as if it was a fight between Daniel and an imaginary opponent (it's used to develop muscle memory and to teach by repetition). In this case, if we want to be poetic, the imaginary opponent was Daniel's fear. But what the kata actually accomplished was to confuse Barnes. As far as I know, most American dojos don't teach kata (which is one of the three pillars of karate). For Barnes, that was like a dance, and his thought was probably "why the hell is this guy dancing in the middle of a fight? Did I hit him too hard on the head?". When he finally attacked, he did so because he was being ordered by Silver and Kreese. But he had no idea what was happening. Well, what happened is that Daniel used that confusion to score a point (not that hard if you are focused and your opponent is not). Since the match was already in sudden death, one point was all it took. Keep in mind, then, Daniel is the worst fighter of the franchise. Johnny, Chozen and Barnes are all better. On the street, they would win (Chozen's defeat was entirely due to plot armor, there's no way he'd loose because of the "drum technique", which is a cool way of saying "move your hips"). But even being the worst, it's not impossible for him to win the tournament.

The reason Daniel seems so tall here is because Pat Morita is like 5’1. Ralph Macchio is like 5’9 I think, so that would make him look pretty tall. Also he was a little thinner here and not wearing a suit so that probably makes him look taller too.
And while she's not a love interest .i will say at this point pre Cobra Kai Jessica Andrews was by far the most important and significant woman in Daniel's life you will soon come to find out. And Jessica didn't become a bitch and just leave.. She was already scheduled to leave before Daniel blew up.. They were going out on a last night in town because she was leaving..i will say it was abrupt in the film though.. but her importance in the universe will become much more clear in the future of Cobra Kai.

I know this movie is not loved by some fans and I didn't like Karate Kid part 3 at all because of it going down a dark path for Daniel, it was like Anakin Skywalker becoming Darth Vader. Mike F-ing Barnes is the Nightmare on Elm's Street for this film. But the song Listen to your Heart is an inspiration for the film for us to learn a lesson. Don't let someone force you to join a bad gang and do things you don't want to do either 💯. Terry Silver was worse than Kreese back in the days, he's much worser then once he makes an appearance in Cobra Kai. The whole movie is pretty mad. Even Mr. Miyagi. The show does it justice
The reason Daniel seems so tall here is because Pat Morita is like 5’1. Ralph Macchio is like 5’9 I think, so that would make him look pretty tall. Also he was a little thinner here and not wearing a suit so that probably makes him look taller too.

And while she's not a love interest .i will say at this point pre Cobra Kai Jessica Andrews was by far the most important and significant woman in Daniel's life you will soon come to find out.
And Jessica didn't become a bitch and just leave.. She was already scheduled to leave before Daniel blew up.. They were going out on a last night in town because she was leaving..i will say it was abrupt in the film though.. but her importance in the universe will become much more clear in the future of Cobra Kai.
And now the whole committee scene in S01 to get Cobra Kai reinstated makes more sense.

As a kid i enjoyed karate kids. Rewatched them a couple years ago, realised how whining, complaining Daniel is ... makes it hard to watch
I know this movie is not loved by some fans and I didn't like Karate Kid part 3 at all because of it going down a dark path for Daniel, it was like Anakin Skywalker becoming Darth Vader. Mike F-ing Barnes is the Nightmare on Elm's Street for this film.
But the song Listen to your Heart is an inspiration for the film for us to learn a lesson. Don't let someone force you to join a bad gang and do things you don't want to do either 💯. Terry Silver was worse than Kreese back in the days, he's much worser then once he makes an appearance in Cobra Kai. Doesn't everything seems to be always convincing when it comes to that Quicksilver villain? It's like Emperor Palpatine!
