Thanks for posting this! I saw Sidetrack Adventures' video on this place, and "Desert Steve" Ragsdale; interesting to get a glimpse of what this place looked like when it was still alive! One had to make a deliberate effort to make a video like this in the days before smart phones. Pull out the camcorder, load up a VHS tape, make sure the battery was charged, and the thing weighed like 20 lbs . . . . nowadays we just take pix and vid of "everything" 'cause pssht . . . I can always delete it later if I don't like it!
I visited that town everyday. Drove for Swift Transportation on the shuttle. Enjoyed hanging out at the cafe and talking with the locals. Great memories!
As an over the road trucker, I used to stop there back in the 80's. Damned shame, but without the needed co-operation things can easily go to hell in a hand basket.
Sweet video!!! I have pics somewhere of myself and a couple of pals outside of the then closed hamburger stand Jan 3, 93. 3 broke punk rock kids in a thirsty 66 Cadillac headed back to Phoenix from a weekend in Hollywood lol

As to date all that operates is the Post Office. The town is graffiti and in shambles with vacant building in collapse, The circle of palm trees is dead, with scattered junk cars and trucks.

Wow I just did a video here sad to see how bad it is now!
I just seen an updated video of this place, apparently the Cafe finally closed in 2012, but the post office still remains.

There's a couple nearby mobile home parks that use the post office
Drove through there in 1998. It was still there, what happened???

I was there 92 and there's a guy upfront stopping up and down on a hamburger. Made a helluva mess.
Steve’s kids unfortunately let the place go to s**t after he moved away and eventually sold it. Great memories of that place as a kid.
caboose is gone now
Yes, it is sold.
