I hope you keep listening to Pink Floyd. Their music is beautiful, cerebral, and emotional. I've been listening to it for many years and it still moves me every time. 🌈💗
On the album The Dark Side of the Moon this track transitions directly into "The Great Gig in the Sky" which is the deepest dive into the emotions surrounding Death you will ever hear! When you can't put something into words..... don't try!
You don't simply listen to Pink Floyd...you EXPERIENCE them as you have just found out. They did not make singles, they made albums that need to be listened to in one sitting. You can however listen to Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Shine On you Crazy Diamond, High Hopes, On The Turning Away (live) and many more. Always try to have the lyrics with you as they are always very deep and meaningful. Welcome to the rabbit hole.
This whole album needs to be listed to in its entirety from beginning to end to really appreciate it. I've done it hundreds of times over the past 5 decades
As a singer, you should love the next song on the album after Time. It is called The Great Gig In The Sky. Do the studio version, not the live version. The singer's name is Clare Torry. It will blow you away! Great reaction!
This song changes over your life. Listening to it as a teenager in the 80's, later as a middle aged father in the 90's, now as I near retirement age its changes yet again. This is lyrically an amazing song.
The song "Echos" from the Meddle album is considered the precursor to the "Dark Side of the Moon" album. I think the studio version is better. It is 24 minutes long, and there are 2 live versions. Live at Pompeii 1972 and live at Gdansk 2015.
If you watch "pulse 1994" ( their last concert except for "live aide" reunion)the second half of the concert they do all of the DSOTM start to finish. As in some comments I have read that several times on reaction. It's an experience you hear. There is so much music to listen to. Along with solo work from David Gilmour and Roger Waters. " pulse 1994 " 'comfortably numb" " sorrow" High Hopes" " Keep talking" " Wish you were here" any song off this concert.
Make sure you listen to their music without headphones, with multiple speakers (Front L/R, Rear L/R, minimum). They didn't just play their music but manipulated how it flowed around you from speaker to speaker. Even reducing sound to coming out of just one speaker at the end of a song. Then the next song starting with that same speaker.
Smiles, same effect with headphones, i understand what you are saying.... Seriously though I'm a singer but t I still wonder how that was possible.... Thanks so much for watching
At the beginning of your reaction, I said to myself; "It's certainly not the musical style that she is used to listening to". But the poetry and the depth of the lyrics accompanied by this captivating music, successfully managed to capture all your attention. Not surprising since it's generally the result that the magic of Pink Floyd operates on those who bother to listen to it.
I'm happy that you enjoyed your first step into Pink Floyd... Actually this is my favorite song from them, from my favorite album EVER; As you might have already been told, they got 4 albums above anything: Dark Side of the Moon (this one), Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall... It's a band with a great "lore". The founder, Syd Barrett, also a good friends of most of them, had a tragic trajectory. This man was some kind of "genius", a poet, a painter, an artist. He had some kind of "mental breakdown", a lot is speculated about what happen in his head, but my guess is that the "show business" disgusted him, the bad side of humans disgusted him, and some drugs and high sensitivity made him a recluse. In the 4 albums I mentioned, there's the ghost of SYD in a lot of pieces. More or less explicit, Roger Waters (the main writer of those albums) lyrics, beside being deep and mature, reference Syd Barrett often. It's adds to the universal beauty of their production, because at the same time: it's beautiful to listen, almost everybody can relate to them, and it's the thoughts of a very special case: a "rock star" (celebrity, money, wasted life, wasted time, lost loved ones, etc.) I'm listening to them since I was 12, I'm 46 and still losing tears at their work. I've been lucky to see what was left of them when I was 18, for the well known and heavily reacted "Division Bell Tour" (produced as "live" as Pulse). They helped me a lot of time in my life. "The song is over, thought I'd something more to say..."
As Euphonious Houston said, listen to whole album in one sitting, but set the mood first. Darkened room, a glass of wine or recreational substance of choice, and some headphones. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Hello Royal Tehillah. Youve just started your Pink Floyd journey. This always touches me deeply when i see people hear Pink Floyd for the 1st time. This band will change the way you see music forever. You are about to find some precious gems in this band. Please keep going, you will be happy you did. The Pink Floyd albums i recommend are: *Dark Side of the Moon *Wish you were Here *Animals *Division Bell ...these will give you a good introductory to the incredible musicians this band is. *Note: Most Pink Floyd albums need to be listened to from start to finish, as they tell a story. If its too much to react to a whole album, then please do it for yourself in your own time. Enjoy.
I’m sure you’ll hear this a lot but it’s best to listen to the album all at once or at least 1/2 one day and then the other 1/2 the next day. They wrote their albums this way, with most songs leading into the next, or at least the subject matter continuing into the next, or previous sometimes…:) enjoy your Pink Floyd journey my friend…:)to get something closer to the whole experience, check out ‘Comfortably Numb’ live from the ‘94 Pulse concert or ‘Echoes’ part 1 live from Pompei
I really enjoyed that reaction vid, thank you. When you get a couple of hours to yourself listen to an album in full, it doesn’t really matter which one you choose but I would recommend the pulse live album.
A Pink Floyd song, by its own, is generaly very hard to fully comprehend. To get a good understanding, you really have to listen to the full album, from begining to end. Most of Pink Floyd song are like movie score. The music (and few lyrics) guides you through your own life's experiences and the movie occurs in your head. It's for you alone!
Im 24 nearly 25 and have every pink floyd album made. This song, these lyrics, this is what made me realize that life is more then just going and going.
Pink Floyd made (actually created) the "Concept Album" All of their albums deal with a single subject or theme and was created to be listened to in full.
@@curtpoppenhouse2621 My error, I thought you were referencing Dark Side of the Moon. Also, I'm fond of Piper at the Gates of Dawn, but never thought of it as a concept album.
@@ROYALTEHILLAHTVREACT You should check out the album cut first, as it's kinda miraculous. They had trouble communicating what they wanted to the guest vocalist, but once it was understood, the next take -- entirely improvisation in collaboration -- went into the album and earned the singer writing credits. It's one of the standout vocal performances in rock. But live, Pink Floyd has usually brought in several vocalists with choral arrangements to try to live up to the album performance. And while improvisation is a natural part of the piece, and each performer brings their own interpretation, frankly, those seem to be universally incredible, too, both paying homage to the original and digging deep within to find expression from their own soul. It's a very vulnerable and inspiring piece. I highly recommend the version from Pink Floyd's Pulse Concert in 1995.
@ Royal Tehillah: The sounds you hear at the beginning of the song represent the sounds that various old time mechanical clocks would make. The heartbeat sound that comes in, is just that. All the sounds represent the passage of time.
People are going to constantly tell you that you HAVE to listen to Pink Floyd albums all at once, but that's not necessary to appreciate their music. While it's true that several of their albums have an overarching theme and listening to each of them all at once is a great experience, each song is also made to be listened to individually. I mean, their concerts aren't all the songs off their albums in order, and if they can present them to us that way then you can listen to them that way, too. ✌🏽
You can read a book with random chapters at a time, but it won't convey the meaning well. A concert usually consists of old songs and songs off the new album. If a concert is one complete album, that would be the concert. Most fans want to hear their favorite songs as well as new ones.
After the clocks chiming at the beginning of the song, Pink Floyd's drummer Nick Mason is playing rototoms, not congas. The metronome ticktock sound was produced by Roger Waters picking two muted strings on his bass guitar.
PLEASE review Great Gig in the Sky it follows time on the album and is about accepting death, no words but you will recieve the meaning by the time the song ends.
Pink Floyd's guitarist David Gilmour is amazing. Check the video David Gilmour, Comfortably Numb live at Pompei 2016. David is 70 years old in this video and you would never guess it. A true treasure! The music, the sound and the lights of this video gives you a taste of the Pink Floyd experience. You won't be disappointed.
Love the chickens squawking in the background and BTW, listen to the whole album. Dark Side of the Moon heard in fragmented pieces can't be appreciated fully...
I have to recommend "Great Gig in the Sky". And if you do, please read the lyrics (softly spoken words, but important to understand the emotion of the performance).
Great Reaction! You should definitely check out some Radiohead's songs. Street Spirit (Fade Out), Paranoid Android, Nude, Let Down, How to Disappear Completely and Jigsaw Falling Falling Into Place are all beautiful songs.

Is this song about Death?....NO. I met David Gilmour back stage at a concert in California 1984. I asked him about the meaning - reason for “Great Gig In The Sky”…. David’s answer was something like…. .I was asked if Pink Floyd would ever do a song about Religion like some others have… so I said, You are referring to the great gig in the sky they call “God“. What words could be used to describe all the pain and suffering caused by religious beliefs. All the crying and wailing from mothers who lost their husbands or sons in a war fought over religious differences. The only vocals should be just the sound of a mothers crying with pain and suffering. That’s the true intentions of the song. We didn’t want to make that public so as to avoid any religious boycott like what happened to the Beatles after Lennon made his comment about Jesus. We could not tell the singer so as to avoid her making any comments that would end up in the media. The speaking heard at the beginning was recorded at Apple records prior to the recording of the song. Roger Waters placed a recorder at the door asking anyone who walked by to answer some questions into the microphone. The doorman-janitor stopped and recorded his answer to the question….”Are You Afraid Of Dying”?. It was decided to add the recording to the start of “Great Gig In The Sky”. It leads people to believe the song is about dying, but that is actually not the case. The Great Gig In The Sky…is GOD … The incredible vocals from Clare Torry happened when she did not know what they wanted. David Gilmour told her to pretend her voice is a Saxophone like on other songs on the album, no words, just tones. Results are legendary.
Listen to the entire album, start to finish. It is a continuous journey of musical genius
