    I just seen this pedal on gleens channel and saved the site. I was considering a multi effect unit which is cool but im just a bedroom guitarist in a small apartment with paper thin walls with presently just a DS1 boss distortion through a old 1990s peavey bandit 112. instead of the multi effect I was thinking of this Mauler pedal. For $249 on the site. even though for that price id probably get a great multi effect unit. decisions decisions .

    This might be the pedal that convinces my bud to finally give pedals a shot. He's even more belligerent than you are when it comes to his signal chain lol; guitar straight in the front and that's it! I'd absolutely love a shootout between this and the SLO you just posted. Maybe even the Loomis pedal too and make a whole big deal out of it!

    It would be great if you had a cheap and cheerful used Fender Hot Rod to use for pedals. It is the perfect middle ground for a guy with a budget practice amp in the bedroom, garage band or part time weekend warrior to tell how close he can get to one day having a 'Kyle-Vee Fifty Fun Nifty' half stack one day, :-)

    • @KevinTheMetalhead
      @KevinTheMetalhead ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Fender HRD is absolutely not "cheap." Budget is definitely more accurate. "Cheap" refers to the bottom of the barrel stuff that's both super low in cost and poor quality like those small Fender amps that have tiny speakers. The HRD is a good quality amp for a good price so "budget" or even "inexpensive" are definitely better descriptors.

  • @guydude4124
    @guydude4124 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why would they ruin this product by putting his name on it. Its not a bad pedal but for 250 absolutely no. This is no where as good as comparably prices pedals.

  • @brandonjackson5865
    @brandonjackson5865 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I like it seems like it’s be hard to get a bad sound out of it. I’ve never been into distortion pedals but I’ve been thinking about getting one to be able to hopefully achieve inspiring high gain tones without having to crank my amp to paint pealing levels. I’ve been leaning towards the EVH od ( noise gate) and then the Chug sounds great also with a gate built in and now this, no gate but you get two pedals to blend.

  • @NeZversSounds

    In Glen's demonstration with the full left mode, it seemed like volume acted almost like a gain knob for HM2 which seemed like a bug, not a feature. It would be great to know if that's how it actually is or not. I hope it's not like that because it takes away control between distortion and actual volume.

    • @TitaniusAnglesmith

      If you still want an answer, it is unfortunately like that. Kind of wish there was a seperate gain for either side. Makes it very hard to get a good tone without clipping my audio interface.

    The left side is a Boss HM-2 circuit, modded to fit with the 'G' series side smoothly. Great pedal for the guy with that what-ever budget combo set to its clean voice/channel.

    15:25 - Love that riff. Reminds of early Swedish death metal (Dismember?). As for the pedal: it sounds ****'in mean but it's also tonally versatile.

  • @fabianteeske
    @fabianteeske ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sounds definitely cool and versatile. But it's like exactly the same to Kohles Grindstein pedal that has been out for quite some time. Therefore pretty lame in that aspect.

    Yep, those left controls are just a depth section. Presence and resonance controls. Very similar to the amptwewker tight metal pro circuit. This one sounds a little less 5150 though. Pedals are about to become the new “amp sim” in terms of tone chasing.

    • @Paul_Lenard_Ewing
      @Paul_Lenard_Ewing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As the reviewer of Stomp Box Steals I can tell you it all started getting serious when starting in 2014 a few European companies were offering the first MIAB pedals that sounded convincing thru a cheap used budget combo amp that most guys had.

    Kyle, how does it compare to the Grindstein?

    • @belligerentamateur
      @belligerentamateur  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The grindstein is way more scooped, a lot more gain, and way more extreme sounding. This one is much more of a traditional Revv high gain sound but with the ability to add a sort of HM2 flavor without it sounding broken
