- The Lake Champlain Basin Program partnered with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Peregrine Productions to share the history and restoration efforts of Land Locked Atlantic Salmon in this documentary which weaves together the stories of community efforts to improve river habitat through an important dam removal, history and recent salmon research, school projects, and current restoration efforts. Props to the film maker for actually getting footage of the correct salmon species for this! I shake my head over so many documentaries about Salmon in the NW where the narrator talks about Chinook, then they continuous show b-roll of Coho or other salmon species the whole way through.

Would be nice to see salmon in the back bay and east near Whitehall. West over Glens Falls on up into the mountains and the salmon and the trout rivers near Constable and Malone,New York.

Isn't there a lot of hybridisation between brown trout and landlocked salmon?
And is this monitored?
The river are in Scotland was is an extremely small river in it's prime fishermen could catch up to three 40lb salmon a day then a dam was put in plus farmed salmon cages in the mouth of the river in the sea loch now the river is a shadow of its former self

So you kill off Sea Lamphries which have been around longer just to put salmon in? I forgot that salmon anglers pay more. What is the effct of this peticide on other species?
Landlocked Atlantic salmon are native to Lake Champlain and have been present in these waters since the recession of the Champlain Sea following the last ice age. Salmon numbers declined following the arrival of invasive sea lamprey that gained access to the lake through the construction of the lock and canal systems at the south end of the lake providing fish passage around barriers between Champlain and the Hudson River. Salmon numbers also were affected by widespread development and deforestation in Vermont that lead to siltation and clogging of salmon spawning gravel in rivers, and the construction of dams that blocked their migration upriver.

I California Gavin Newsom says, "eat almonds" and the ex governor, Arnold Schwarsenegger says, who cares about the fish". There shall be no salmon fishing in California and the water barons in California could give a rat's ass....
Fish hatcheries are better than nothing.
But nothing is a really low bar.
