A very emotional song. Note that the Swedish lyrics are quite different from the English lyrics. The English lyrics cover the 30 Year War as an event, while the Swedish lyrics concentrate on an individual soldier. I love the perspective they used in filming The Great Tour since you see what the performers saw. Please understand this song is slower than most Sabaton songs. Thier faster songs (someone mentioned 40:1 from Poland Woodstock 2012, an absolute must see) get insane with crowd reaction. Many of the crowds will drop down and form "rowing circles" when they play Swedish Pagans. And yes, the drum riser is a tank. They have 2, Audie and Walter. Thanks for allowing us to share the journey down the rabbit hole.
I've been to see them twice in the US. Both times they've been incredible the entire crowd sings along to everyone song. You've got kids I'd definitely recommend taking them along, their concerts are incredibly family friendly. Joachim usually picks a kid from the crowd and gives them his sunglasses, my daughter got them last month in Salt Lake City
@@dadwhatsfordinner ya pretty sure they just finished their US tour, but definitely worth checking out if they come through again next. Someone else at the concert was nice enough to post a video of Joachim's interaction . He titled it something like "Sabaton welcomes 9 year old Lucy" if you want to watch on your time all their fan interactions are great
This arena , Scandinavium (Gothenbourg) takes 14000 at concerts and its believed to have been full 14000 that evening at the Sabaton concert. By the way , Yes!! they were in Denver just recently....after a short break and some Swedish concerts among them the yearly "Sabaton Cruise" an amazing party cruise with ONLY Sabaton fans ! And OF COURSE with Sabaton performing on stage! , ..After Sweden they are heading for Australia in january...I believe.
it about the " Thirty Years' War " some was born under the war and even did die as a soldarer in the same war. En Livstid I Krig = A life time in war !
This is an epic song from an epic concert. I was there and the unity in the audience during this song...coming together..singing, many of us in tears..it was an epic moment that will stay with me forever. The song itself comes from their album Carolus Rex, it's a concept album depicting the rise and fall of the Swedish empire.
One of my favs is an older song "into the fire" there is no official video. Its about a GI just deployed to Vietnam, going to the first mission into the jungle. Back then, the sound was way more rough. Another one is "Gallipoli" from the same period, but there is an official video👍
Time to check out the lead guitarist of Sabaton, Tommy Johansson. He is an incredible good singer and he has his own channel and releases awesome stuff there. Today he released a cover of The Price by Twisted Sister, but you can find a lot of different genres there. I suggest you to listen to Who wants to live forever (Queen cover)
SABATON 🤘🔥 Give me tears in my eyes every time! The heavy message of the Song, the Crowd singing. Magnificent 🔥 Have you seen the Tank on the Stage??? Hannes van Dahl the Drummer is married with FLOOR JANSEN 💙❤️ Nightwish 🤘
Good reaction, and yes, you really stepped into a huge rabbit hole now. So many good songs. There are some more from the great tour, like 'The Red Baron ' and 'Attack of the dead men' that you should check out. (Or Ghostdivision' live from Woodstock, an outstanding show) And dont forget to check out the Sabaton History Channel, lots of good stuff there.
Was there, valentines day 2020 so just before things started to shut down in Europe. Turned out to be the last concert for almost 2 and a half years, so that also made the concert special. But this song is one of the single greatest moments of a concert that I have ever experienced. I think there where about 10 000 in the crowd, many sang the entire song, several had tears in their eyes around me from how emotional the entire song is. The lyrics are roughly correct btw, but a little weird in some word choices and the grammar, but you'll get the gist of it.
Concert footage shot from onstage is not unusual with them. The 2012 Polish Woodstock festival has several great videos, although it is shot from a traditional perspective. Ghost Division, 40:1, Uprising. Huge crowd. I remember when MTV played music videos. LOL
Great reaction. Sabaton sings about old wars. Great history lessons in every song. Can also recommend you to listen do a reaction to. In flames. Stay with me. An other great Swedish band.
Subbed and welcome to the Sabaton Army 😁👌🤙 I've been listening to them since 2008 and seen them live twice definitely worth seeing I believe they are touring the US now
Nice reaction, I was at this show (sitting somewhere in the middle of the platform to the left from this view of the stage) Just before this clip started Joakim asked everyone to hold up their cellphones since no one carries around a lighter anymore. Going by statistics we were around 10 766 people at the arena that night.
sticking to the toppic, there is a great song from an australian Folk Rock Band about the aussie point of view on the Vietnam War. Red Gum - I was only 19. its from the early 80s, but still disturbing...and there´s a recent Hip Hop Version of it by a Group "The Herd" so a double feature would be perfect ;)
And for me it is almost as if they sing about my ancesters. I am off military lineage. I do family history research so I know that many ancestors was in the military but haven´t found anything yet if they actually was fighting in one of the wars Sabaton sings about. And many swedish people today have surnames that hint of ancestors being in the military from the 1600s and up to the 1800s just like I do. My great great great grandfather on my fathers side was a soldier.
I was there and it was magical. I’m standing in the front of the stage in the middle, bit I was sweating sooooo much from the fire from almost every single song 😅😅 then whene the consent almost was over there was a girl behind me that fainted from all the heat😂😂
Great song loved the reaction. Definitely you need to see them live someday. Really would love to see you react to a great band that not many reactions channels will do , GRAILKNIGHTS they have a song called “PUMPING IRON POWER “ Featuring the lead singer of SABATON. Joakim also a song “Turbo Boost “ if you remember the tv show night rider them you would love. Thanks
Not sure the subtitles was auto translated here, they changed a few months ago, and they've been more accurate than they used to. They actually played this one (in Swedish) at the special 2h 40m show in Denver 2021... that audience didn't sing along as much tho :)
