Yes was a special band. Each time a member left/replaced, the new guy enhanced the direction of their music according to new guys talents, and new creativity and consequently, larger audiences. Be it, Wakeman, White, Moraz, and finally Rabin, those skills led to greater success. Remarkable.
I ashamed to admit it but I didn't even know about Yes until 90125 came out. I loved that album and I bought Big Generator when it came out a couple of years later. I was working at the Royal Mail when I heard on the radio playing that they were selling tickets to the Union tour. I had to go so I took a blind date with me. Our seats were right at the back wall of Wembley Arena. I should have brought bino's. The sound was incredible. It was great to see everyone who were Yes playing at the same time. Bruford doing his stand up playing the Simmons bit and everything else. I ended up dating the bird for a couple of months and then she said nah. I didn't care. I'd seen Yes live! I don't know why but Trevor seemed to get a lot of stick from Yes fans ????
Many Yes fans thought they went too pop music when Howe was replaced by Rabin, however now it is considered very good even though less progressive. 90125 Live is a good album to buy, to me better than the studio version.
Beethoven never had a number 1 hit... neither did Mozart.... Art isnt about who sells the most or who has the biggest drop...... I really like Owner of a lonely heart...... but you cant put it next to Close to the Edge....... Owner of a lonely heart is a great piece of commerce.... Close to the Edge is an incredible piece of art.
"Owner of a Lonely Heart" is one of the greatest songs of the 1980's. And it's still one of my top ten favorites.
Great interview! Trevor is far and away my favorite musician. The new album is so good!
Thanks for this, Trevor is great. I love all versions of Yes but grew up in the 80s. Really liked Anderson/Rabin/Wakeman with Lou and Lee too
That was a fun interview. Some different questions.
Great interview. I wish you had asked Trevor about the recording of 90125.

The Talk album is so underrated.
The 40th anniversary of this album was on Tuesday!
