What a great Scots accent this lady has. I really enjoyed listening to her. She has amazing resilience, amazing talent and is a credit to those who taught her. I live in Renfrew (Ferguson St), and it was a great joy to see Renfrew on film and the places I know well. Ely represents all that is good about Renfrew. Her love for the town, and its people, is all too evident in this film. And against all of the odds, a wee lassie frae Renfrew is now an award-winning writer. I''d love to see her talking to Scots artist and playright John Byrne of The Slab Boys and Tuttie Fruttie fame. There would be a play in there somewhere. Perhaps that's where Ely is headed next. A playright. Good luck, girl. You are not only a lovely speaker and writer, but a lovely person too. Yes, this was a brilliant film. Thank you.

I have to read this book . I’m a Renfrew person . I loved “ How late it was how late” and “Shuggie Bain “ .

Shuggie Bain is a great book. It is loosely based on real people with the names and situations twisted around.
And Pit Head is in Stepps
