maybe my favorite jazz recording ever. Oscar peterson was fun when he was flashy, but I love his restraint and extremely measured pacing here. It makes all the flamboyant bits that much more satisfying.

Consta que o Thelonious Monk afinou esse piano pra ele. kkk Tem uma treta assim na época em que ambos eram vivos. Iriam tocar no mesmo show e não sabiam quem iria se apresentar primeiro. Perguntado sobre a ordem, Thelonious alfinetou Oscar dizendo que ele era antiquado, e Oscar sabendo da declaração disparou: Prefiro entrar depois dele, assim ele já deixa o piano afinado pra mim. Thelonious como se sabe era um grande compositor e líder mas era tecnicamente limitadíssimo.

Talvez um piano de última hora sem a devida afinação, vá se saber né. Sempre aparecem alguns perrengues na carreira profissional dos artistas.
How many strings does a grand piano have? Around 230. All you need is one out of tune string in the middle register and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Glad I play guitar.
This translates almost perfectly to guitar There's something magical in this performance though,kind of haunting. I transcribed and appreciate it that way cause I'm sore don't play piano 🤷♂️
it would be impossible like the song says for oscar not to know the piano was out of tune.just maybe he liked it that way .whos gonna tell him other wise.
