I used my son's old crib and turned it into a nice cage. its 37x24x26 inches. currently have 4 budgies in their. this video has given me ideas about a big aviary though. thanks
I lovee this, this is exactly what i want for my budgies and future budgies too! Then I don't really have to worry if they have enough room for flying or climbing around. Probaply still going to take them outside of the aviary, but still great video, this is good inspiration!!
THAT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE SPOILING YOUR BUDGIES!!!!! if I was a budgie I want a owner that can make me something like that! I want to learn how to make one of those houses for my future budgie! You now have a new subscriber!
Simple, easy to build and low cost. Exactly what I was looking for to build in our greenhouse. Except I'm having doubts about the fake grass, but I can see the positive side on it: easy to remove and to clean (pressurized water with some disinfectant in it), and in the long run cheaper than for example that special sand they sell for birds (20 euros/10 kilo bag >> 1 bag would barely cover the floor). And it looks good too. My biggest concern is that budgies nibble on anything and everything, including plastic grass.... I'm sure you know what I mean. Going to use your already excellent concept, but I'm going to add a second space with a second door for more security. One door leaves to many chances of budgies - or any other birds for that matter - possibly escaping each time you open that door (for maintenance for example). Don't want my birdies to go "buh-bye, see ya!!". LOL Cheers! Subbed.
I built a mobile cage, and when it is time for maintenance I do it indoors, but if you are building your cage outdoors, you must make 2 doors security precaution
As long as you don't stick down the Synthetic grass down you could take out the messy grass replace with a clean bit and hose the one you've took out. ??
I made a few large cages and raised 16 breeding pair of lovebirds also cages for budgies perhaps 8-10 pair so I had to have smaller cage then this guy. Mine were under our car port and covered outside porch BUT I sure like this cage and nice for inside the house if outside it would need a double door so no birds would fly out. BUT seeing this cage gets me all excited for birds again. Sadly I lived only 60 miles from the volcano when it went boom. And getting my family out fast was much more important then more then fifty birds as we had a few other kinds. I covered the cages with plastic the best I could however that fine rock dust is hard on birds so after a heavy rain I sent them all free and they seemed to be flying toward the jungle area about 10-15 miles away away from the volcano. I often have wondered if any survived long enough to raise young. BUT seeing these guys build this aviary makes me want to build one. BUT I am an old man now and my life is watching you tube video's sad to say. But I am very glad for you tube. My wife just reminded me "No more birds remember?" I am just talking honey not buying. Thank you for this video it made my day. I may dream about parakeets for a month even when awake. Old guys are kind of like that. Smiles.
believe me it's never too late :) if I were you I would've built the damn cage and raised budgies again. they are the cutest little things, and I am sure they will brighten your life and make you much happier :) bless you
I'm loving all the videos. Lots of great information. What are some different types of birds that can be safely housed together for a community aviary? I'm wanting to build a large walk in one in my spare room to give them ample room to move around and big enough I can actually walk into.
hey ,if anyone else is searching for aviary building plans try Panlarko Expert Aviary Planner (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my brother in law got amazing success with it.
You prolly dont care but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Rayden Lucca thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is great! I would love to do this with only a couple (maybe a few) alterations. It would be inside my house (when I have space) and have a big split door so could only open top/bottom or both as needed. - Heidi
Está bonita y grande me gusta pero a esa altura las ventanas no ce si es solo para cambiar el agua ya poner comida por qué para la limpieza sería por una puertecita. Gracias por compartir.
If you ever put the aviary outside where the sun is on the turf for 40 min or so, the grass heats up and holds heat. It could burn the bottom of those little feet. Just a heads up.
Great video, thanks so much. My daughter and I enjoy all your videos. I like the idea of the synthetic grass as you’ve used it here, how often and how do you go about cleaning it? Do you have two so you can swap them out for cleaning purposes? Cheers from New Zealand
Thank you for watching :)), yes I have 2 for swapping. I use a mini vacuum cleaner like the one for the cars, to clean all the seeds every 3 to 4 days (depending on the mess) and once a month I do a full cleaning where I swap the clean one with the one you see on the floor, and I wash it off with water and let it dry. (when I make the video about how to clean the cage I will address that as well)
That's an awesome aviary! Next time I need a new cage I'm doing this. Do you know if I can make perches out of pine, Aspen or birch wood for my budgies. I live by the mountains in Wyoming. Would love to make my own perches. 💞🐥🐦🙂
Thank you, and yes you can, I will talk about perches in more details very very soon. Please use this link, I have built a list of trees and I will keep updating it whenever something new comes up, just search you trees, if it's in green then it's safe, if it's in red then it's toxic => bit.ly/BudgieTree
Amazing setup man.. very nice.... But don't they pluck out that artificial grass you used in flooring??? Please do reply.. I want do the same but waried about that plucking issues..
Grass close to the top of the cage they would nibble on it and pluck it, but on the floor, usually they don't unless the height of the cage is less than 50cm in which case they might go down there. either way you can try, and if you find it's a problem, then you can remove it. best of luck
Can you keep budgies outdoors if it temps drop to low 40F? I have a pair that’s indoors in a decent sized, but improvised, cage. It’s very difficult to access far inside the cage for maintenance. And it’s quite messy.
Please do not leave your birds outside If it drops below 60°F. Budgies are not accustomed to cold climates and can get very ill and possibly perish if left in cold weather.
I have 4 budgies eating out of one bowl right now. it just depends on the size of it. mine is 6 inches across and it can fit 2 of them inside while the other two stand on the edge.
I hope those budgies are happy, because there's multiple of them to cheer each other up!
Superb 💖 I'm sure after watching this video no one would spend their money on factory made small cages 👍☺
not only you can make a big cage for cheap, but also you can make it exactly as the size and shape you need :)
@@BudgieWorld That is true 👍

By far the best bird cage I've seen. But minus the synthetic grass.

I would love to know what kinds of wood you’ve bought and used?
This build is amazing!
Awww 🥰 I want one for my budgies.
How do you clean the floor? Doesnt their poop somehow gets stuck inside that synthetic grass?
As long as you don't stick down the Synthetic grass down you could take out the messy grass replace with a clean bit and hose the one you've took out. ??
@paulpte what if you didn’t have extra grass
@@nim3171 when you build buy your synthetic grass so it covers the Avery twice over and you've got enough.
@paulpte ohhh ic thanks for explaining
@@paulpte are you saying you buy twice the amount of synthetic grass and cut it in half?

Hello sir how many feet cage wire did you bought?
There are. Some mistakes like small doors you can't catch them in this aviary so you can make a big door
I want to build a avisar outside but what do you do since the birds need to be covered so they don’t freeze to death? Any pointers
Can u please share the exact size and dimensions of the cage
