That's partially correct! It all depends on what kind of system you are running of course. Things like intake, turbo size, exhaust pipe diameter all contribute to how much power you are making and if the back pressure is holding you back or slightly increasing your performance! :)
@bejeweld yeah was going to ask about powergains and stuff like that but ive just done stage 2 on my 1.2 tsi and its like a pocket rocket. Did you have any problems with reliability tho?
The Polo was stage 2+ as well. The turbo was the main problem after a while. These engines arent really made for more than stage 1 to be honest. The turbo wore out very quickly with stage 2 and was only pushing about 111hp after a while (id say a year). The garage that bought the car from me replaced the turbo but didn’t re-tune it so it was suddenly building way too much boost which blew up the engine (rookie mistake in my opinion). I don’t want to make you scared but running stage 2 just keep everything in check. You should be fine if you don’t push it hard every time you drive and keep an eye on the oil and sparkplugs. A boost meter isnt a bad idea as well to see if after a while the turbo still makes the same boost. (Lower boost = failing turbo.)
@bejeweld thats really helpful. I change oil every 9k km and changing sparks soon. Tbh im kinda over the car and i want to revert it to stock. Pops and bangs now and its a police magnet, its a fun car but it has done enough.

It's a 2.5-inch downpipe with a sport (200 cells) cat. After that comes a 2.5-inch cat-back with a sport resonator and back-box. So basically it has all the 'silencers' to create a nice tone and then a sports cat to make more volume.
such a nice deep stone, I have stock downpipe then cat delete and straight pipe exhaust. The tone is a bit raspy so I might get a back box installed
Yeah a sport back-box or resonator should clean up the sound for sure!
I could be wrong but a cat converter would actually help the turbo with back pressure.coz every1 would be doing it

Did the check engine light turn on? Did you do an ecu remap to turn it off after the upgrade?
It got a stage 2+ tune when upgrading the downpipe. Never got a check engine light!
Can u change 5 speed to a 6 speed or do u need a new gearbox
