A lot of the MOCs have Toa Nidhiki in a Toa Metru build, but the members of the Toa Mangai did not have a common source. They were from various different parts of the Matoran Universe, and so would have rather different appearances. Toa Lhikan having the Toa Metru build makes sense, because the Toa Metru would've gotten their appearance from him, having known him more than any of the other Toa Mangai. But, as for Toa Nidhiki, he could have any build you want. Also, I've always preferred him wearing the Kanohi Kualsi, rather than the Kanohi Volitak. As far as I know, it was originally molded to purposefully reflect the appearance of mutated Nidhiki's head, so it suits him. Actually, if it wasn't for the fact that I like the unified design of the Toa Hagah, with presumably all six members having the spears and shields, I'd just make Iruini's set Nidhiki in my head-canon. But as that is the case, I think the best representation of Toa Nidhiki would be something that resembles his mutated torso (but smaller), with a green Kanohi Kualsi on his head, a staff that has one of his claw pieces as the blade, a green and silver color scheme, and some form of legs that I haven't decided upon.
Come-and-go Bionicle fans won't know that the Toa Hagah are actually BACK! During the story serials, the Toa Nuva came up with the genius idea of trapping Roodaka and demanding she turn the Rahaga back into Toa, which she did. Now the Hagah are active once again and the oldest Toa build still in action. It's a shame we didn't get to see the other four, or even just one as one of the Stars, but I'm planning to build Toa Pouks since I have Onewa's Metru body. The Toa Hagah comeback story is one of the most incredible gems in Bionicle; we've never seen Turaga turned BACK into Toa. Though the Rahaga were not technically Turaga, or even mutated Turaga, they were allegedly Rahkshi-Toa hybrids... the size of Turaga. We only knew the Rahaga as old fuddy duddies in Bionicle 3, so it's really touching to know that they're kicking ass again and have been transformed back to their rightful forms.
***** Well...I think the masks are more for show than for power. if he wanted to go and go the Mask Powers route, he would have probably gone with a painted Metru Kanohi.
Not sure if this is fan art but I've seen it around a whole bunch: img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110119184238/bioniclereviews/images/c/c2/Hagah_Toa.png
I just noticed that Norik's chest plate is the same mold as Turaga Dume's torso, while Iruini's is the same Bohrok shield on Nidhiki's chest. That's honestly interesting, seeing the remains of those sets' initial conception as Dume and Nidhiki.
Eljay, 'Lego System' refers to the brick and minifigure building system. For example, Bionicle was a subtheme of the Technic building system, the other 'main' Lego building system.
I miss the pre-2006 Dark Pearl Gold they used in sets. The lighter pearl gold is nice, but certainly not as rich or alluring as its darker predecessor. EDIT: I also realised that silver was made brighter after 2005 alongside the gold. The pre-Ignition metallics were significantly richer and darker.
Tor Johnson Yeah, but keep in mind that Iruni's mask was based upon Nidhiki's mutated face. So it's likely that Nidhiki's mask actually looked like Iruni's, but was a Mask of Stealth. Dume's mask looks like Norik's but has a different power.
Eli J. Brony Actually, the Iruini set was talked about as being Nidhiki for "all of 35 seconds" (as Greg puts it) and he doesn't think a Dume set was discussed.
TomGyroid Besides, Nidhiki and the Toa Mahri were mutants, so the masks would look different from the possible normal masks which we don't know how they look.
Norik was my favorite bionicle figure right after Gali Nuva, and so much so, that I bought him twice. I didn't realize Iruni and Norik were special edition releases... Heh, neat.
Not really, these two just give off the same kind of guardian or sentinel vibes because they have those spears, shields and somewhat similar color schemes. And because we get only 2 toa haga instead of the whole team.
Since they are the "Royal Guard," I especially enjoy the color scheme by adding Silver and/or Gold. I wonder if the other Toa Hagah were released what we would see.
I think what they mean by "Lego system" is the basic system that pretty much all building systems, whether it be Bionicle, Technic, bricks, CCBS, etc. fit into. Think it as the way that you can attach system bricks to Technic rods and whatnot. Everything is compatible with everything, and that compatibility is most likely what they mean by "Lego system" (as can be shown in terms like "out of system").

Yeah these sets are great. I'm still after Norik. I swapped out the gear function on my Iruni so both arms are the same and can hold their own weight in different positions, did the same for all my Toa Metru too.

I think the Hagah are a bit of an improvement on the Metru, as far as the gear function goes. Thanks to the Metru torso's angled arm sockets combined with them all being double-geared, their arms and tools tend to get in one another's way when using the gear gimmick. The double-geared Toa Nuva didn't have that problem, and they also had alternate parts for a single-geared configuration. About the only downside to the Hagah is that in order to match the axle bearing on the right arm, the left arms use pin-with-axle-socket pieces that lack friction ridges. But I suppose the designers figured you'd be holding the arm to aim anyway. I want to make customs of the rest of the Hagah, but Iruini's gold armor (while fetching) is giving me a bit of a dilemma. I would prefer to divvy the armor colors along the lines of Fire+Stone+Earth and Ice+Water+Air, but that would give Kualus the same color scheme as a Toa of Light... Hmm...
we can all agree that iruini's the best looking out of the two since he has an original mask, and gold>silver. also, gold&green color combo? green ranger!
I dunno... He might technically be the better of the two, but Norik is some stiff competition. Without any new parts, he still radiates this power and nobility that Norik SHOULD have, as well as that really awesome chest design. I also like how he has a kind of continuity to his build thanks to using Nuva armor and weapons, and as much as I love it, Iruni's bronze has NOT aged as well as Norik's silver components. I remember being more excited for Iruni, but Norik was the one who ended up following me everywhere as a kid.

It might be worth noting that this video isn't in the large Recap Reviews playlist that has reviews from all of the years, so I guess it would be nice if someone fixed that.
I wish: They made a new mold for Iruni's shoulder. Iruni, the leader, was taller than Norik. New feet for both. (The Toa Mata feet would be great around now.) Different angle for the shields so they can be held upright. Less fragile spears. Better spear tip for Norik. (Rahkshi spear is old and bendy if not very fragile.)
iruni isnt the lead norik is there point was these were designed to be like the metru because that what all toa were like bath then neither of then use rahksi spears norik uses gali nuvas weapon and iruni uses that common spike thing
no its not its a common spike piece introduced in 2004 or 2003 only 3 of the rahksi spear ends made it into other sets other then the rahaga and those were the brown black and blue rahksi staff pieces the most common piece being the blue staff
To be honest if they did Toa Dume and Toa Nidhiki, first Dume had transformed into a Turaga by the time Nidhiki became a Toa so they would have to be very different to stop them from looking like they are on the same team.
shady hunter97 No, these are Toa versions of the Rahaga. Who where originally Toa before Roodaka transformed them. Tuyet was part of Lihkan’s team like Nidhiki was.
You said the Toa were guardians of Brotherhood of Makuta members, how does that take role in the story? Or did you just misspeak? This was confusing and if you could respond in a Q&A video or just reply here that would be much appreciated.
Huh. Always thought Iruini made a perfect Toa Nidhiki. Now I know why.
His mask. Its basically a remake of the vahki head as a mask, has all the features.

Yeah. He constantly bitches and Kvetches about it, and it gets annoying fast.
It's because it detracts from the color scheme and it's annoying to see on the figure, because Lego could easily just use black pins and axles
The only reason lego added them instead of black is so kids build easier knowing which piece it is by the color

Damn, I can't find Norik anywhere :/ I already have Iruini so I was hoping to complete the set, seeing as these two are some of my favorite sets
norik is super rare because he was ONLY released in the combo pack.
***** maybe they where released separately in some places then? Idk every source I read said that he was only released in the twopack
+BIOBA I wishi had some more toa metru. I only have iruni but I'd like more because I have an awesome idea for a moc and I need the torso parts in black.
+SirWalrusII I have a partial Norik and Iruini that I want to complete. Probably the hardest parts will be Iruini's spearhead, and Norik's mask and shield.
You can easily find them on brocklink
I'm curious about why they picked to make the set be Iruni instead of someone else.
I see you have a lot of sets, do you do MOCing? or just reviews?
Both fantastic sets!!!
the bionicle system appeared first in the underrated slizers and throwbots line
I have Iruni! But I got him at a garage sale, without a shield -_-
Eljay you forgot to upload this video to your recap revies youtube plsylist
I can't unsee how Iruini's mask looks so much like Nidhiki's vahki head,
+Andy Iruini's set was originally meant to be Nidikhi before he went rogue. In the end, they simply changed it to Iruini, but the mask remained.
+King328 that doesn't seem to match the lore from the first Bionicle Encyclopedia. Maybe it is just me, but that is to be determined.
+balthazar werner
... or so rumor has it.
I have a whole bunch of parts to one of these guys and I’m sad I can’t put him 100% together
Loved these sets. me and my brother where huge bionicle fans and we saw these as us . I had iruni and he had noric. so many memories :)
It might be worth noting that this video isn't in the large Recap Reviews playlist that has reviews from all of the years, so I guess it would be nice if someone fixed that.
I wish:
They made a new mold for Iruni's shoulder.
Iruni, the leader, was taller than Norik.
New feet for both. (The Toa Mata feet would be great around now.)
Different angle for the shields so they can be held upright.
Less fragile spears.
Better spear tip for Norik. (Rahkshi spear is old and bendy if not very fragile.)
iruni isnt the lead norik is
there point was these were designed to be like the metru because that what all toa were like bath then
neither of then use rahksi spears
norik uses gali nuvas weapon and iruni uses that common spike thing
The common spike is a recolored rahkshi spear end.
no its not its a common spike piece introduced in 2004 or 2003
only 3 of the rahksi spear ends made it into other sets other then the rahaga and those were the brown black and blue rahksi staff pieces the most common piece being the blue staff
Sorry, I knew the spear end was common but I didn't know it originated somewhere else. Regardless, I think its a bad piece.
it is I have at least five and you can find bend marks on all of them
50th anniversary of just lego in general
To be honest if they did Toa Dume and Toa Nidhiki, first Dume had transformed into a Turaga by the time Nidhiki became a Toa so they would have to be very different to stop them from looking like they are on the same team.
Wish I had those
Probably the only sets from 2005 I actually love.
Are they the rahaga?!?!
Was tuyet part of the 6 toa with these 2?
shady hunter97 No, these are Toa versions of the Rahaga. Who where originally Toa before Roodaka transformed them. Tuyet was part of Lihkan’s team like Nidhiki was.
@@icebluekamikaze854 ohh
Did the toa Hagah used to be small villagerz? Because, If u watch "Barraki Creeps from beneath" it showz a villagerz same mask that silver toa.
Hamsterz720 *never mind, i found out by reading the comicz that that is not what happened
They should've put the Metru leg armor on Norik's forearm...
Will you review the 2005 playsets?
I believe he said at some point that he would not be reviewing any of the playsets.
He said in Q&A #4 that he wouldn't be doing any of the playsets.
LukeMCFC 141 Did he say what year he'd be cutting off the reviews? Or is he going to the end?
Commander Shepard
I believe he is doing 2001-2010.
Commander Spencer Oh, good to hear. I want to hear what he has to say on those sets.
It's a shame the other four Hagah members were never made into a set.
You said the Toa were guardians of Brotherhood of Makuta members, how does that take role in the story? Or did you just misspeak? This was confusing and if you could respond in a Q&A video or just reply here that would be much appreciated.
Lego system was a thing Lego has been doing for a while. Not too popular, but was pretty much the predecessor of Lego Technic.
I wish Lego made all of the Toa Mangai: Lhikan, Nidhiki and Tuyet.
Sadly they only did Lhikan.
Technikly they did Nidhiki but in his corupted form
Iruini was my first Bionicle
They mean the lego group itself
YAAAAAAYYYYY!!!
Now I can die happy!
System is used to refer to the bricks.
Isn't Noraak (idk how to spell his name; he is the silver one) really rare by himself?
I think not,but don't take it from me
Ok :)
I believe you couldn't get him by himself. He only came in the combo pack
Ok
Olav yes you can get it separately, or atleast on Spain
I've always wanted those guys. I still want to track them down on ebay for a reasonable price someday.
Both 10/10 sets
Wow.... 2005 recap reviews are already coming to a close :/
These guys are awesome. Must have sets.
Why dose one get two new pieces
But the other one get just one?
does anyone know what irunis mask is called and what its mask power is?
Kualsi: Mask of QuickTravel. Iruini can teleport anywhere he looks with the power of his mask.
Kualsi: Mask of QuickTravel. Iruini can teleport anywhere he looks with the power of his mask.
Okay second question: does it exist in silver?
***** damnit
+Alex Dalton no. Just gold and green :) you can always spray paint it though
What about Lhikan?
Joe Kusmer different team
