We love this - thanks for putting this together!
My pleasure! Thank you! Very glad to hear that. Appreciate the kind feedback!
My first trip wine tasting in Napa was as a college student at UCDavis in 1978. Different times as we were able to visit a dozen wineries, (including Mondavi, Beringer, Christian Bros) and sample a variety of local wines with no tasting fee. Traffic was minimal and the entire area still had the appearance of a sleepy agricultural region. I've visited the region many, many times (just an hour north of my home) over the years and have fallen in love with the variety of Cabs to be found in the various AVAs.
Thanks very much for weighing in! Very nice that you are so close! Hope that you enjoyed the video. Cheers!
Good timing. I'm in Napa today for the first time. Trefethen is all we'll have time for unfortunately, though we are starting at Ridge.
Very nice! Hope you enjoy it! Ridge is fantastic too! Cheers!
Great video John! 👏👏
Grazie mille, Marco! Very much appreciated!
This is awesome. Going to take notes on it.
Thanks very much! Very glad it was useful!
I love Napa! Some of my favorite producers are Corison, Mayacamas, Bremer and Chapellet! Philip Togni is a must to understand the old style Napa production. I don’t care much for Caymus and other producers that make bold sweet wines . But that’s a matter of preference . Cheers !
Thanks very much! I enjoy many of those producers as well! Cheers!
Stag’s Leap AVA is my favorite.
Thank you! A special AVA for sure.
@@AttorneySommI had a 2012 Isley Cabernet Sauvignon that tasted like a Bordeaux.
@@numanuma20 There are definitely some wines from Napa made in a Bordeaux style. Dominus is another one. The Napanook is an outstanding value. Cheers!
Blown away by this video! Brilliant in every aspect! Clever title; excellent opening; superb flow and chronology of topics; outstanding research and script; intelligent writing; astute analysis; stellar delivery and very engaging style. You’re the ultimate Napa Valley wine authority, and this video is a clear testament to that. Someday, when I go to Napa, your videos and posts will be my guide and inspiration. Thank you for always sharing the best, most helpful, most relevant, and most reliable wine content on social media. Santé, John! Greetings from France!
Bonjour Margaux! Merci beaucoup! Truly appreciate the kind feedback! Very glad it was useful! Hope that you are able to visit before too much longer! I know that you will enjoy it! Cheers!
@@AttorneySomm De rien, John! It’s my absolute pleasure! As for visiting Napa Valley soon, I hope so, too! 😁
Any suggestions for a wonderful restaurants that would be fabulous to go for Christmas Eve ?
Lots of great choices! Of course, French Laundry is a bucket list restaurant. Auberge du Solei is very nice, with stunning views. I enjoyed Farm at Carneros. La Toque is very nice too.
Many thanks !!
😮👏👏👏👏💯🙏🙏🙏
Thanks so much! Cheers! 🍷
Great video! Being from Washington state I sometimes feel guilty for how much I love Napa wines 😉
Thanks so much! There are definitely some world-class wines coming out of Napa! Very glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers!
Thorough analysis as I have come to expect from you 😁. Must be the legal training. 🍷
Thank you! I think it is!
Love tasting in Napa, it has gotten pretty darn expensive though.
Same here! Yes tasting fees are definitely much higher at a lot of places.
Very educational video, thank you
My pleasure! Very glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Amazing video I love it!
Thanks very much! Very glad to hear that! Cheers!
Took a break but I got my money back up so I’m back!!! Looking forward hearing your amazing recommendations and knowledge. Drinking Markham from Napa valley and is their altruist. 2017 I love it.
Welcome back! Thank you! Sounds fantastic! 👍🍷
Great video again. Some amazing wineries for sure. Ummm… 200% new oak? 😂😂😂. Love how the vineyards tend to be planted horizontally across the hills, where by us in the finger lakes where they tend to run vertically down the hills. Thank you!
Thank you! Very glad you enjoyed it. Definitely interesting to hear that they plant differently. Yes! Pretty crazy. Definitely something you don’t hear about often.
@@AttorneySomm significant frost and mildew pressures, that planting type allows greater airflow on the sides of the hills. Not every where, but a lot.
WoW This is an amazing treasure. A book per se. When I want to know about what wineries to visit in Napa Valley and what wines are the most specials, i definitely go to your YT videos or some other of you plataforma’s content. I haven’t find some one that gives such specific and important details as you do. That moment when the eyes of the world turned to Napa Valley is impressive. A before and after in the history of wines from the USA. 1973 Stag’s Leap CS and 1973 Chateaux Montelena Chard. Winners in Paris and showing the world of what you were capable to do. So much to talk about this unbeatable video John. A Napa Valley Bible. No words to thank you enough for this precious gift, John. Santé
Thanks very much, Gabriela! So glad you enjoyed it! It ended up longer than I expected and I even cut it short a bit. 🤣 Definitely one of my favorite wine regions in the world! Hope that the video is a useful resource for those wanting to learn about Napa Valley! Cheers!
@@AttorneySommJohn, this Is The Bible of Napa Valley. Super useful for every one. Beginners, professionals, collectors… Well, if you have more research saved that is not in the video cuz of time, make a book!!! Yesssss!! Thank YOU John. As I said, no words can express my gratitud for your dedication to educate, or increase the knowledge of all this community that truly believe on you.
Truly appreciate it@@gabriela_dng ! That means a lot. I have definitely thought about a book. I think I need an intern. : ). Cheers! Hope you enjoy your evening!
