    I wish that there were Gay Cafes or Brunches instead of only bars. Sometimes we don't want to go to dark, sketchy, adult bars. It would be great because it could be a great space for LGBTQ youth as well.

      Xavier Sage gay bars exist because mafia run spaces were the only places that gay people could be in at a time when being gay was illegal. the first riots were all at gay bars, and now it's time to move past it and get non alcoholic gay spaces (im saying gay as an umbrella term i guess, idk)

    One problem I have with mainstream gay culture (which I might actually do a video on someday) is the obsessive focus on sex and promiscuity. It seems that so many pride events and forms of gay media praise hookup culture in a way that often feels unhealthy. Don't get me wrong: I'm not here to slut shame. Having sex is natural and hooking up can be fun. Plus with sexuality being the focus of these conversations it needs to be talked about. I just can't help but feel that simply expecting gays to be super sexually active and perpetuating that stereotype as the norm does a lot of harm to gay youth. Especially the ones exploring sex for the first time and even more so for the ones growing up in conservative areas without access to proper sex Ed.

    • @roontownonline
      @roontownonline 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      like other commenters mentioned, it excludes the youth from the community and I feel like discussing and representing these things in a more responsible and positive way is really important for queer youth to see.

      This was exactly what I was thinking! As a bi person the comments I hear a lot from strangers is asking then if I just want to sleep with anyone, how much I must live orgies, and that I would be perfect for theesomes. I say that is absolutely not true. I am fairly conservative in my sexual expression because that’s just another aspect of who I am. I’m lucky that I’ve had decent sex ed but I’m still not a promiscuous person. Sexual orientation deals with attraction not our actions and I feel this gets lost a lot of the time and thus makes it harder for some in the lgbtq+ community to be taken seriously.

Thank you Tyler your an inspiration.

      Emmy_2003_ Shane would be interesting because he's come to terms with his sexuality quite late in adult life in comparison to these guests, whom I believe for the most part all came out in their teens/early 20's. Shane also had quite a dark upbringing so it would be interesting to see how that may have shaped his relationship with his sexuality.

      OMG Tyler! You just made my day :) My favorite bi youtuber is MissFenderr. You should look her up. She makes great content about how a bi person doesn't quite feel accepted in a straight community or gay community and how they are always defined based on who they are in a relationship with at the time.

    I would love for this to become a regular occurrence. There are still so many things that need to be discussed and I loved that there was a lot of representation throughout.

    Since this community is so loving and supportive, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my current situation. I've known that I am bi for about a year now, and I feel ready to come out, but my parents are very religious and I feel that if I told them they might overreact to it. I know that my friends will love me for it, but eventually my parents would hear the news through them. I keep running through my head the right time or place to do it, but so far I've held it off out of fear of rejection. Should I just stay in the closet until I move out in a few years, or should I tell them and see what they say? I'm open to any advice from you guys and girls; you feel like my best friends and I think you'll help me make my decision.

      hoshidan piglet Why do you need to tell them ? Also if you care about your parents that much....you could always just date guys. Since your bi

      Last name First name I guess I wanted them to know because I respect them, but you're right, when it comes down to it I should do what makes me happy. It's my life and I shouldnt have to live it hiding and pretending to be someone else. Thank you so much for the advice! :D

      hoshidan piglet if you feel like telling your parents puts your safety at risk, don't tell them. Perhaps bring up the subject and see their reaction, like eg one of your classmates is gay or something (make it up?). Your safety is of the most importance:) you could wait a few more years unless you get a partner and want to tell them them rather than coming out first? please be careful and look after yourself :) hugs from a fellow bi :)
