To off road in snow you really need good set of offroad tyres which the thar already have
I am from Himachal and driving on snow is my daily routine, it's more about the tyre you are using, skinny stock tyre which comes with vitara will not work here. Even thar cant do anything with such tyres

Maruti/Toyota should have provided an AT tyre atleast in AWD variant as it is not cheap and customers are also paying a healthy premium over FWD variant.
but maruti gives S/M(snow and mud) tyres in all variants but also they have very less grip
I think Grand Vitara comes with AT tyres as stock... It is not hardcore offroader like thar and gurkha

Thar is actually an off road vehicle.. what you expect from a Grand Vitara.. Lucky that Thar was there to pull you out .. Hills are always beautiful to watch..
Actually Tyres play a major role on such slippery terrains... At least they should have used snow chain.

It's all about tyres , which are used . As Vitara was having stock tyres that is the reason why it was not able to pull itself . Otherwise the Vitara is a very much capable car . At least we should respect that with stock tyres it was able to pull itself in the starting. So we should not say ' Tati ' directly . Don't try to judge a car or anything by just one failure .
Try to analyze the fault first why is it happening then you should speak . I am very sure if the Vitara had all terrain tyres it came out from snow by itself without any help.
This man Vikash only appreciate things owned by himself else everything in this world is shit according to him .

Snow chains would really help in these types of situations, if you don't have a snow chain then carry a thick rope and tie it around the tyre like a snow chain.

Issue with Grand Vitara was smaller tire size and also possibly absence of all season tyres.

Grand vitara needs at tyres. Those highway focussed ecopia tyres are for normal roads and occasional mud and slush. Need block tyres for snow
