- Through the dust of the canyon comes another cover from the SNES gem "Terranigma". This time, I worked on the lovely theme of the suspenseful and very atmospheric "Grecliff" level. The piece combines both a very dramatic yet melancholic main theme and some really smashing faster parts.

The outstanding soundtrack of Terranigma was originally composed by Miyoko Kobayashi (Takaoka) and Masanori Hikichi.

Bei Terranigma habe ich öfter mal das Super Nintendo angelassen einfach nur um die Musik genießen zu können.
Jetzt diese "aufbereiteten" Stücke mit mehr Klangumfang genießen zu können ist herrlich.

It makes me so happy that there are people out there who recognize just how exquisite and beautiful Terranigma's soundtrack was. Your arrangements and covers are masterful and beautiful and they for-real bring tears to my eyes. I can tell how much you also love Terranigma's music.
Wholeheatedly agree. Sometimes a composer has a period of brilliance, Terranigma is an amazing blend of Western-inspired Japanese classical music. Exquisite is the word.

It's such an incredible game and the soundtrack couldn't have been any more fitting. These orchestrated covers are the only way that it could be better. It's a shame the United States never got an official release

I love that you loop twice on the theme, allowing you to build up the tension for the second to have more intensity and catharsis by the end.

If I ever go to the Rocky Mountains in real life I want to have this song playing while I'm climbing them.
This music is so dramatic, it sounds like action music, adventure music, and battle music combined into one track.

What an *amazing* way to start the day. I didn't know I wanted this and I didn't see it coming and I was blown away. I'm really grateful you created this cover, it's sooooo good. I think a great orchestral cover captures the best parts of the original and improves upon them to create something even better. That is exactly what you did. Hat dir schon Mal einer gesagt, dass diese Orchestral Covers qualitativ weit, WEIT über der Norm stehen? Zumindest aus meinem empfinden und ich hab mir schon viele, gerade von Videospiel-Soundtracks angehört.
Sehr abwechslungsreiche arrangements immer und... Keine Ahnung, der Klang, die instrumente, alles passt und schafft wahnsinns Atmosphäre
Terranigma ist aber auch ne verdammt starke Vorlage.. :D

I still love coming back to listen to this, and I think I remember when the track was uploaded. There's just some damn power I feel in especially the drums which made me appreciate even the original alot more. A full 10/10 from me definitely!

Komischerweise erinnert mich das Herbst Thema von Stardew Valley an Crecliff, das ist auch der Grund, dass ich dieses Video hier fand. Daumen hoch echt gut gelungen. :-)

Listening to it lately, I'm reminded a lot of Halo actually, and in the good way. Feels like this song would feature well in a remake with immersive-sandbox-style influences.

Von deinen Terranigma Tracks gefällt mit Grecliff am besten! Ein tolles Upgrade zum Original, man kann es prima im loop laufen lassen und es ist nicht zu dominant und eignet sich damit gut als Hintergrundmusik zum P&P spielen :) Wir haben das Cover letztes jahr oft für für Warhammer Fantasy verwendet

Besonders bei diesem Track will ich ein Dank aussprechen. Denn als Kind hab ich den hier auf Dauer gehasst. Ich hab mich früher gerne mal in Grecliff verlaufen und musste da teilweise stundenlang diesem Track hören und ich hab einfach wegen der Musik oft das Spiel geschlossen, weil der mir so aufgeregt hat. Aber hätte er damals so geklungen, hätte ich diese Stunden mit Freuden gespielt. Einfach hammer geworden

Wow, what an amazing remix. Terranigma ist my favorite game and this is one of my favorite pieces. And this version perfectly captures the feeling of the original while still adding so much depth and breath to it. :)
Dude! Fucking amazing stuff. I played the shit out of this game and I even more loved to listen to the music. If Terranigma will be remastered, I would like to have the original sound, Orchestra, Metal and Electro available. That would be just more than amazing ;)

Normalerweise kommentiere ich auf YT ja nicht, aber mein Bruder hat mir deine Songs gezeigt und die sind einfach HAMMER, bombastisch. Perfekte Mischung aus Nostalgie und Modernisierung (Grecliff ist dabei mein Fav). Ich weiß, aus verschiedenen Gründen ist LP/Spotify sicher schwierig, aber ich würde mich riesig freuen und natürlich zuschlagen, wenn du die Songs mal zum Verkauf anbietest!

It would need to account for new generation evils and innovations like the internet, W0KE-avists, Cyber physical systems ect. It would also need new themes Example: The 4th industrial revolution. It would also need to be HONEST. Chapter 3 of Terranigma had all the town development in it, so...NEW Geniuses I.E. Elon Musk, 3D-Printing Guy, Twitter guy???, ect.

Ich bin sehr überzeugt von deinen qualitativ hochwertigen Rearrangements! Einen kleinen Vorschlag zur Verbesserung möchte ich Dir hier jedoch gerne unterbreiten: Die Bassgitarre und das Schlagzeug klingen in dieser Aufnahme leider ein wenig künstlich (mit Schlagzeug meine ich vor allem die Hihat und die Snare). Das liegt auch an dem Fehlen von Dynamik. Ich kann Dir sehr empfehlen, hier vielleicht die Plugins zu ändern, oder falls das mit deinen derzeitigen Drums/Bass-Plugins geht, die Humanize-Funktion zu nutzen. Ansonsten, wie gesagt, tolle Arbeit!!!

Ah Terranigma. Lang ists her. Damals schon so aktuell wie heute, weil die Welt in dem Spiel schon so am Arsch ist wie unsere heute. Ich hoffe die Petition für die Neuauflage hat Erfolg.

Hey there, many thanks for your feedback, great to hear you like this one! Regarding the sample libs: Strings are mainly MS Soaring Strings in this one, layered with solo instruments from CS Cinestrings Solo. Woodwinds are EW Hollywood Orch. Woodwinds. When it comes to brass, I combined EW Hollywood Brass with PS Caspian for this cover. They are really good in supporting each other, I like their combined sound. Drums are XLN Addictive Drums 2. Percussion is a mix of SF Albion (Legacy) for the cymbals, Soundiron APE for the big ethnic drums and some patches from PS Orchestral Essentials 1 for additional percussion (like Timpani, Tubular Bells etc.). And of course several supporting patches for layering and atmosphere :). Hope this helps!
One little notice: this track is from early 2019, so there were quite some changes in my template since then. The recent "Dungeon" cover is quite different e.g., so if you're interested, I can of course give you some insight into this, too.

Wenn ich zu Soundtrack-Covern Vorschläge machen darf: Golden Sun und Final Fantasy 9 haben auch sehr atmosphärische Themen, vielleicht könntest du damit auch so etwas wunderbares, wie mit Terranigma anstellen.
Dachte da gerade insbesondere an "Terra" aus FF9

Hi there! Yeah, I'd really love to, but it's a very difficult task to obtain the appropriate licenses. I already tried it once with my "Overworld" cover to make it available on iTunes, Spotify etc.. But my publishing service (Distrokid) wasn't able to obtain licenses for it so I couldn't publish it. Unfortunately, platforms that once offered these services especially for Video Game music aren't active anymore. That's why it could be very hard to secure all rights before releasing the covers on Spotify and other platforms.
