Great band War with or without Eric Burdon. "Slippin into Darkness" is a good one.

The live version has a much more powerful impact. Ten times more. The visual of the band, the sheer size, the instrument utilization, and then Eric. The lead singer, ambling towards the microphone, with a casual confidence and performance that made the video unique. And carrying (reportedly) a side pouch on him containing his "enhancements". And he was the white lead singer in an incredibly diverse multicultural band. And you know what? Nobody cared. If you don't cover the video, Daniel, at least take a few minutes and watch it on your own. Also just finished the Dayton King interview. It's an hour well-spent. Highly recommend.

A great WAR track that I love is " the World is a Ghetto ". The album version over the single for the long,

Always listen to the studio version as your first listen. *There are a few exceptions where are a particular live performance has become the definitive version... such as Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry/People Get Ready", or Bob Seger's "Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser"... but those are few and far between.

War had a series of hits after this song my favorite is probably “The Cisco Kid” but there others just as good. War was all about the feel and the groove. Eric Burden was only with them for a short while, some crazy stuff from that period. This song was very popular, nobody really knew what it was about but so extremely groovy with a conversational lyric and the leaping gnome vocal. The live “Beat Club” is fantastic, definitely check that out or do another reaction. Great reaction. Thanks.

You should check out "The Hall of the Mountain King". It is one of the GREATEST and FUNKIEST pieces of CLASSICAL music you will ever hear...(.In fact you probably have heard part of it before, and not know it.)..This piece as well as the opening movement from Edvard Grieg's, Peer Gynt Suite," Morning" have been used countless times in TV commercials. ENJOY

I've always understood that spill the wine, dig that pearl as a reference to heroin use. Someone injecting spills some blood - wine, and then digs the pearl - of the orient. Heroin.

Daniel, I see you're getting a spammer in the comments section. I'm seeing more of this on YT, but don't know and won't find out what its about. Just sending a heads up at you. Be careful.
As far as War goes, if you want a deep cut instrumental that no one else will recommend from them, give "City, Country, City" a listen [there are 2 versions 7:21 and 13:20]. I saw Eric Burdon at the HOB many years perform "Spill the Wine" and many Animals songs and the now
Low Rider band [comprised of all but one of War's original members] at a free concert on Bayou St John in New Orleans about 5 years back and the vocalist/guitarist stated that City, Country, City was his favorite song by them too.

Tool? Psychedelic? Nooo . At least, not what we thought of as psychedelic back then. The Doors, The Moody Blues, Iron Butterfly, Jimi Hendrix (especially, Are You Experienced), Country Joe and the Fish….some of The Grateful Dead…certainly Pink Floyd. It was music that lent itself to a good stone. Nothing terribly hard or frenetic…that could bring on a “bad trip”. Could make you paranoid. You didn’t want “jittery” music…that could freak you out. I cannot even imagine listening to Tool stoned……except maybe Pneuma or Parabol. But maybe young folk do these days. We sure didn’t.

I was not very clear with my language here, I didn't really mean the music, I was thinking of Tool's associated visuals in their videos and artwork. It was a bad example that doesn't make much sense in hindsight heh..
Anyways, Spill the Wine is an amazing song.
