You know there’s so many people on earth who would see this video and think ‘who cares?’. But I see it and I think ‘this is absolute gold’, real tennis fans know. Keep em coming tennistv
For me, the most disappointment part is that he was a real meneace to the Big 3 in all the tournaments, and then we didnt have any real succesor until Alcaraz.
@@rm1507 No, this is a frequently repeated misconception. Every player experiences a slump in their career (often repeatedly) that lasts a couple of months or years. It happend to the big 3 and everyone else. Thiem's game was affected by a foot injury in 2021. When his foot got better and he said he was mentally fired up for big time tennis again, then came the carrer-ending wrist injury.
@@Holyspace305 Yes, that's the question. He might still have 3 or 4 years biologically when he could play at reasonable level. One issue is motivation. Will he miss tennis so much? He seems at peace with retiring, he said he tried everything to play well again and it just didn't work. Which refers to his wrist problem. It's probably irreparably damaged, it doesn't allow him to play well anymore.
I hope Thiem can teach his onehanded backhand to the upcoming generations… it was so lethal and beautiful at the same time. Tennis will be less exciting if there are only 2 handed backhands 😢
Tsitsipas backhand was so much better in 2019. Don't know what happened to him. His backhand is all fucked up and it seems Tsitsipas has given up on being a top player.
Yeah, especially when you consider his career effectively ended in June 2021 when he was 27 (his comeback attempt in the next 3 seasons was just complete failure). He could have achieved so much more. But at least he has that one slam title. Many talented players never achieved that dream. Plus we have all these videos that show his incredible game.
Thiem had zero consistency even his prime. Alcaraz is only 21 and he already has reached more Slam QFs and more Masters SFs than Thiem in his whole career. Same goes for Sinner.
@@rm1507 Prime Thiem (2019, 2020) finally developed consistency and was getting to the final rounds of tournaments year-round. He changed his game, it was more mature with more finesse and slices, better defence and footwork etc. But even when he wasn't so consistent, Thiem's peak performances were much better than anything I've ever seen from Sinner, and better than Alcaraz, too.
@@J.-M. Thiem had a 73.5% match win-loss rate in both 2019 and 2020, this is significantly lower than Alcaraz and Sinner's career average (let alone their two best seasons so far).
@@rm1507 I never said he was more consistent than Alcaraz and Sinner. I was replying to your "zero consistency in his prime" nonsense. He wasn't consistent before 2019, but he developed a consistently reliable game in 2019 when he got to 7 finals, and his 2020 was similar. I was also talking about his PEAK performance, which has nothing to do with consistency. His peak was uniquely insane.

Well said!
What a shame he had to retire so young because of injury. He had the potential to win so many more slams.
For me, the most disappointment part is that he was a real meneace to the Big 3 in all the tournaments, and then we didnt have any real succesor until Alcaraz.
I don't think so. He was already declining quickly in the first 6 months of 2021 before the nasty wrist injury in Mallorca.

@@J.-M.hopefully thiem can come out of retirement someday

This version of Thiem is simply ruthless. He should have become one of the best in the history of the sport.
that backhand down the line is a thing of beauty
Would have been nice to see prime Thiem against Sinner and Alcaraz !
I think he would have been nuisance to them but I don't think he would be able to beat them in the biggest matches
What a excellent performance Thiem ! Congrats !
On Murrays reaction you can see he was surprised by thiems performance 😄
Miss Thiem and his tennis. Would have produced some epic matches against Alcaraz and Sinner if he stayed healthy and maintained his top level form.

It was great to watch Thiem when he played like that !
He was the most entertaining player in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Thiem Brillians!!😊
That match vs Gasquet was basically a one hand BH battle 😂
This version of Thiem would win the AO and USO, in 2022 and 2024. He would also probably win the FO in 2024
He played better than this in world tour finals 2019 and 2020 but lost both the events .
Easily
Agreed, if not for Thiems career ending wrist injury, Thiem would have won at least 6 slams.
Looked like a real bromance with Tsitsipas at the end!
yeah Thiem is friend with a lot of top players, because there's no reason to hate Thiem.
All players who participated in the ATP finals2020 said they were friends with domi
@@sag-x1y yeah he's a very nice guy. actually he was too much of a nice guy in his early career, his coach had to help him develop a killer instinct.
Thiem si ritira dal tennis grazie dominic
he had so much faith in his plays back then 😭
11:30 you can see how he is in the Zone damn
more thiem videos!
Back when Tsitsipas could play the backhand
原来北京的比赛这么清静是个传统啊😂

The quality of tennis in the final is so bad compared to Sinner and Alcaraz.
Thiem would've shi**ed them in his prime
Prime thiem better than alcaraz and sinner
Maybe !
