Also the metal they use for the frame is cheap, in the video by Spats Bear of Emerson Collie destroying one of those while wearing his fursuit, he was able to get part of the frame to bend in deep just by stomping on it while it was sitting sideways. But I do see the handle and blades coming in handy.

Nice video of parting of a Lasko 3733 Box Fan Jordan! I wonder, when you first got the fan, & it was in horrible condition when you got it, is it needing to be donated anywhere?
I need to replace a broken blade from a newer Lasko box fan. I have another old box fan with a plastic blade that looks to be the same size so I thought I'd trade them out. I was able to pop the newer broken blade off but the OLD plastic blade does not want to come off. We tried your method of putting it on the floor and pulling the blade. My husband has tried to remove it too and it just does not want to come off. Do you know if these box fans always have fan blades that just pull off? Even the old ones? I don't want to break it! Is there something else we can try to get the plastic blade off the old fan? And are these plastic blades standard sized? My luck...I'll finally get the blade off and it won't fit the newer fan! Any suggestions? Thanks for posting this video!
You can try a little heat, but that's about it. It's press-fit onto the shaft, nothing but brute force will remove it. The age of the fan will determine the blade, 10-15 years ago the blades started to get smaller and thinner (cheaper).
Nice video. Do you know where I can find a replacement fan motor for an older model Lasko Box Fan with the larger "deeper 20" box" ? I'm having trouble finding one. Thank you.
I have an old Galaxy 3733 that runs fine though it was thrown out because it's missing the knob and has a broken blade, finding a blade is the hard part, the knob is easy enough, once I get it fixed I will have 2 Galaxy 3733s, I've also captured a brace blade and am working on a Lakewood HV-18 stand fan though I'm still not sure if I will be able to get the Lakewood, brace blade has the patent pending motor and hardwired cord so I think it's a model 201, it's still around most likely because it's had an easy life with little use
Another reason you don't want to scratch your blades because they catch particles in the air easier and the more scratches the faster the dust buildup on the blades and the faster the dust buildup on the blades the slower your fan gets in the less productive it is for you or whoever is using it so it's ideal to keep the blades as clean as possible and as smooth as possible I've found that if you get them scratched or however you get grooves in them to where the dust builds up quickly clean them with soap and water and then do a wet sand with the final sandpaper you can find and if need be but I real quick spray of clear coat over it but make sure it's a good job because if not you're going to be cleaning your blades once every week or two unless you don't mind slow jankwd up shit sticks flapping in the wind. ;)
@@JordanU i have two 30$ stand up ones and one has scratched blades and it makes a world of difference with dust build up and speed performance, just throwing out info, thank you
I think I can understand why 1 is high speed and 3 is low speed. 1 is the "unrestricted speed", as in the fan would run at that speed with no switch and just directly connected to AC power. 2 has some current limiting, and 3 is even greater.
These box fans are worth $25. Literally. They cost $25 to buy these at the home depot. For that price I think the quality is somewhat decent but they certainly do not make them the way they used to. Blades are flimsy pieces of junk. The box mine came in advertises 3 quiet speeds, they sure aren't quiet! Oh and the bearings are barely oiled from the factory.

I'm not sure what the part number is, and I'm even less sure that the part would be available for purchase by itself. Regardless, any 3-speed switch you can make fit will work.

There's a fan similar like this in the classroom, come to find out it's dead. Why Lasko is so pathetic when it comes to 3733s? Every Walmart fan is just meh!
wow you're just like teh millenials who do all the life hack videos. just hackin the life. these are the box fan models commonly sold at grocery stores or dollar general. i had two of them that were old. one rattled, one blew slow. couldn't figure out how to get the blade off. put some life hack muscle into it and swapped out the blade to the good motor one. and wallah ! saved me $20
Wow, your work area is the best example of what I want lol. Everything had its place, a nice workbench and lots of space.
If only you saw what it looked like behind the camera!
Thanks fixed my son fan in 2 second with this video, all i did is change the blades from my old fan to the new fan that got wet and burned out
You're welcome.
I had one of those for 8 years and I gave it to my mom and it still runs
Thanks for letting me know.
Do you have a part number for the fan blade
No, I don't believe replacement blades are sold.

@@JordanU - I don't know. I was just wondering if it was going to be donated anywhere. Do you have a Goodwill Thrift Store in your area?
Actually, I just Googled it & unfortunately there is no Goodwill Thrift Store in your area.
How do you know what my area is?
@@JordanU - The answer to that question is, well, it's personal to you but not personal to me.
Jordan on your Lasko when you increase your motor speed does your blade spin the same speed or faster

There are no direct replacements that I'm aware of. You would have to get one of similar specification and retrofit.

While that is true, and perhaps would make a significant difference in a precision application, I'm not sure such is a big deal with a cheap box fan.

mine walks. it vibrates. what's the deal?
The blade was probably not molded properly or a piece of it has broken off causing it to be out of balance..
