I am a nurse in the Netherlands and we never go in scrubs to work or go home in scrubs. We have to get the scrubs every shift in the hospital and when your shift is over you leave the scrubs there. Let's be clear: you get your scrubs by scanning your badge and your size will come automatically. We are not allowed to take the scrubs home, dress there and get to work in scrubs due to hygienic reasons but I must admit it does happen sometimes. I only did it once. So we change in the hospital. I find it very strange that in the US people are walking outside in their scrubs or coming/leaving in scrubs. No after a shift I'd liked to wear my own clothes.
I no longer work in the hospital for nearly 10 years now and I haven't wore any scrubs since then. I am still a nurse but scrubs are mot requierd, so just regular clothing which I like better 😁

People need to understand that dress codes have lightened up and eased off a whole lot over the century especially since the 60s and 70s. Unfortunately some people still don't get it that some jobs and personal style/expressions just don't mix. Especially those crazy manicures and big hairdo don't belong in a health and care environment. Ooo, I can't dress that wound, coz my 💅 expensive manicure with get messed up....
