@@ellensburgamplifier that 4v switch is because of the high and low level input... if you have an old head unit with no rca and plug it to the amp with the speaker wires u switch to 4v
What is nominal for input voltage ? Less than 4 volts ? Just curious . I have a ppi par245 and a first year audio control eqx. 8 and 9 volts output max. On the 245 the volume controls output . The eqx i can set inputs and outputs. Would i have issues using the par245 with a unit like this if max input is 4 volts ?
Thank you for the great question! When you have an amplifier that has a 4v input voltage and you send it let's say, 6 volts to the input all that will happen is you will run into significant clipping of the signal. For the most part, the pre-amp will be ok. So the bottom line is a clipping of the output signal. Most head units and amplifiers are 4v but I am seeing more amplifiers now with higher input voltages.
Thanks for the reply . I almost bought a couple older Alpines but backed off for this reason and they just weren't in pretty enough condition . I got one more question for you . I'm looking at a brand new Sherwood A250 . What's your thoughts on that amp . I actually sold Sherwood for a couple years at my parents business . I liked the 80s amps they made early on
@@MikeMcChiken They are decent amplifiers that remind me of how Orion put their amps together. That is if this the original a250 you are looking at with the 2 piece transistor clamps. It uses the TO247 style outputs which depending on the type it suits the power supply section well. For the right price, I would not hesitate to get one.
👍👀✌
Thank you for your support!
