Eggs and toast will keep you alive but I like a little bacon and grits, maybe a slice of tomato to round everything out. We don't eat breakfast till mid morning and it's my main meal of the day. A long fast everyday keeps the plump off and the doctors bored. I like that...

It’s 27 degrees here in North Georgia. But my kale, broccoli, brussel sprouts and collards are doing fine. It’s my first time to grow them or anything this time of the year and I’m in awe. Thank you both for giving me the courage to try. And thank you all in the comments who encouraged me as well.

You can make good use of your freeze dryer to preserve your onions. We started freeze drying ours last year, and we didn't have to worry about spoilage. We kept enough to have some slicers, but chopped and freeze dried the rest. They're so handy when it comes to cooking, or even in potato salad. We even freeze dried the extra green onions when the crop was starting to go to seed. We probably have a good two years supply.

Hey y'all, good morning How old are those onion starts right now? I usually take mine after 8-10 weeks and clipping them 2-3 times from the top. For me here in Minnesota Last year and this year I fixed my beds with manure layers and fresh compost leveled out ready to plant covered with 2-3 inches of leaves. So in the spring I can rake away the ;eaves and plant real early in the spring.
I know I use one onion every single day. I like the red, white and yellow all for different meals depending on what I'm fixin. Peace and blessings

Problem is I’m 66 and both parents and now step-father are deceased. I wish I could ask them but can’t. Any suggestions? First year and started out fairly small. 7 tomatoes plants, cucumbers, 2 squash plants, potatoes, watermelon, and blueberry plant. Something is eating blueberries. Would appreciate suggestions.
When do I plant turnip greens? Is it too late to plant some corn, zucchini, green onions, and sweet onions? Sorry for so many questions.

Harvested cauliflower yesterday. In the past week, the heads had grown from 3 inches across to 10 in. Amazing, when we finally got some rain. These were sown as seed in mid March. Have no idea why a 65 day variety would take 8 mths to produce! Intense CME? Typical dry summer? Extreme 100s temperature often? So much of my vegetable garden takes much longer than the seed envelopes say, and this is a banana belt. Zone 9, far north California.

I ordered onions from Dixondale and the temperature here in western North Carolina dropped into the high 20s. I haven't planted the onions. The weather is going to be up and down so I'm not sure what to do. Any advice? Also do you cover your carrots when it dips down cold and leaves a heavy frost?

Plant them and cover till they root good. We cover our carrots if it's going to be a really long freeze.

I noticed in a video from 3 years ago that you used woven ground cover. Do you still recommend it? I knew at one point you kind of got frustrated with it - if I remember correctly.

Starting to go into the 20s to 40s and volunteer onions look good. Wonder if viable next summer or be like an onion set. Brussel sprouts finally started growing sprouts. Hopefully fast but doubts. I often pick them in winter like weather in November.
My new quail after the raccoon slaughter finally started laying eggs. They say they start about 8 weeks. My experience 12 weeks. Getting excess males out of the area may have helped. Could've had stressed females even if their area is quiet.

I pot onions in everything so i love them. If you go in after a bag of onions your going to buy 50 dollars more of something you didn’t need.
