    Hello. I am watching all the video series you have recorded. Especially those related to RF systems. Please continue like this. I have been doing business in this industry for 20 years but I have a lot to learn from you 🤓

    Viorel, why we are not using Ferrite rings as wire noise suppressors ?..are they relevant especially in outdoor antenna installations ?.. thanks

      I followed the original RAK 8dB...there are no feritte, antenna i shorted by the last element..

      @@viocaia I'm talking in general. Why not use Ferrite noise suppressors? just rings on the antenna wires. Do they help ? thanks

      @@waila8200 It's useful when the outer shield of the feeding line is hot with RF so a toroid is blocking RF to reach the miner..In our case there is no need, antenna is in short, the other coaxial collinear designed I've used I plant a ferrite toroid at 1/2 wave length from the feeding point..not necessary with this RAK design..

    Very nice, really looking forward to know how it works, I would like to see your final measurements as I have calculated mine but would like to compare before cutting a good piece of coax, I'm mostly interested to know what you have done at the bottom part, that thinner piece that connects to the antenna via that small PCB, did you change the measurement there too , need that measurement too as I think it should be half the length of the elements 114 / 2 = 57 ( 1/4 wave ). thanks.. also I think the original 8dB RAK have 8 elements if not mistaken.

    • @viocaia
      @viocaia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right..8 elements, I didn't change the feed line, that small piece to N connector is the original..

    • @jacoleroux5569
      @jacoleroux5569 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@viocaia OK, yes the 8 elements is 8 x 114 and the little top piece is basic a termination point, (extra) also makes the antenna DC shorted thus not a necessity to add a lightning arrestor , just ground the antenna and any static discharges will go to ground.

      Is in the middle of the Antenna to get easy downtilt.

    • @viocaia
      @viocaia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      IT was nothing but cutting the top of the antenna, that small element until the right SWR reached, I had to build like 3 new ones , it's a very thin margin of error, once you shorted even 1 mm is gone..a new tip should be made..It's long and boring process..passion is the word..

    • @Brdar90
      @Brdar90 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@viocaia after several days of trying I actually developed the same technique. I was cutting last 1/4 element of the antenna until I reached good enough swr. I was using design from antenna that you did with RG58 cable. After I was done with shorting (cutting down to correct size) of the last element, I was just pulling in and out copper wire for best swr. Technique to build antenna without soldering is just perfect, probably will cut build time by half and build quality will be much better. I have similar cable and I will try it at evening. Can't wait :D And thank you for doing this and sharing your knowledge with the world. You also inspired me to try to build yagi antenna and I'm in the process of collecting parts.

      @@Brdar90 Nice to hear that Milos! Try this last design it's working great..I forgot to draw the schematic, anyway the feed line is 81.1mm..the short thin tube in the video..those 2 pieces of PCB are for mechanical only.

      @@viocaia I finished antenna, unfortunately I didn't get good results with the new antenna design but I got amazing results with your old antenna design (one that you created with RG58 cable) . Build quality is very good, and build time is significantly reduced. Can you post schema for the new antenna (antenna from this video) design?

    • @viocaia
      @viocaia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Brdar90 I will ..it's very simple fi you follow the video..7x114mm, last one 1/8 wave in short..that's important to tune the antenna to the right swr
