I LOVE this feature with the instruments. It was actually an instinct whenever I came into the town to run up to the house and activate the instruments so the town sounds actually good

Of all the types of music I enjoy, by far I love Nintendo songs the most.
Of all the Nintendo series I enjoy, I love the Pokemon series' music the absolute most - It can be as hectic and exciting as Red and Blue's wild Pokemon theme, as adventurous as Diamond/Pearl's Route 209, or as relaxing as the Pokemon Center theme.
But, out of all the Pokemon tunes I love, **this** stupid, simple, Starman-esque loop takes the cake for me. No matter how many times I listen to the 20-second loop, it never gets old. The brilliant combination of instruments, melody, and upbeat mood give this song more charm than I never thought was possible for a computer file.
The way the piano and flute mix together for the first part of the song is beautiful, but the way they separate and do their own thing near the end is just downright brilliant, and gives the song a sense of messiness that makes me feel like a kid again.
The only thing I do not like about this song is the fact that it's only ever used once in the series, in a small town with absolutely nothing in it. Any time I ever traveled to Accumula Town for whatever reason, I would always prolong the stay as long as possible, just to listen to the music. I desperately hope Pokemon Z has a town with a Name Rater, Move Tutor, long road for egg hatching, literally ANYTHING that could keep me there for more than five seconds.

I dont think realize how much musical depth this piece has.
The piano solo in the second part is absolutely mesmerizing, perfectly performed and fits perfectly with the backing track, synchronously rising and falling in intensity.
The bass in the second half of the tune is geniously written, maintaining a profound simplicity without getting boring.
The chord progression (still talking about the second part) creates tension that leads to an absolutely perfect resolution on the last bar (the bass is a big player in the tension and resolution on the last 2 bars, try and listen to see what I mean), which then seamlessly loops back into the original theme of the piece. That's also part of why its so pleasant to just listen to on repeat.
The drums give the piece a solid foundation, with a tight 16th note groove, and helps increase intensity and tension (listen to how the drums change in the second part, and how it supports the groove). The drums also contribute to the first half of the piece by accenting breaks in the melody. It does so with an open high hat at the right time, using call and response perfectly.
This absolute piece of art takes you on a journey, going from a place of childlike simplicity, to a groove that would take the most skilled of musicians to achieve in a live setting.
It's the most known score of the entire game, and is still criminally underrated.
(I listened to the entire video on repeat about 5 times while writing this and will continue listening for an indefinite time)

I always loved this music, especially when you could go up those stairs to the left of the Pokemon Center, and go inside the house, and you could have the little man and woman play the piano and drums from their house, and it always sounded so good while I walked around the town...

Man, this takes me back to the first night I played this game. This game felt so fresh and exciting, it was the first Pokemon game that I played that wasn't a remake
It’s so beautiful looking at people talking about how much they love this song. I’m currently listening to this crying in my bathroom remembering how much joy this game and song brought me. I have over 500 hours in this game finding as much as I could and forgot this songs title. When I found 3 years later it I was overjoyed, and I sit hear now thinking how such a simple thing could bring me to tears. The simplicity of the song, the way it seems to dance on your ears as each chord shifts into something somehow more beautiful than it once was. A feeling of serene calm that seems to transcend all conceivable stress or sadness. Life is short and scary, some thoughts if dwelled upon can destroy us. But life is also beautiful, and the simple act of standing in a simulated town can bring me so much joy, or at least the memory of joy. The memory of joy is sometimes all we need to carry on
I am now 24y/o and I now just realized that there's this version when talking to the pianist and the drummer. This brings back good memories I feel like a kid again. 😭😁

I'd been unimpressed with the music up to and including Accumula Town when I first got there. Then I found the house and added the piano and drums to the mix, and it solved everything. Got my hopes up for the rest of it, like "well, maybe it won't be so bad after all". :)

I first played Pokémon White 8 years ago and this song is stuck in my head since then and pops up in my mind from time to time.

Everytime i went back to play my old Pokémon black on the DS, this song always felt incredibly nostalgic and i would sit there listening for at least 10 minutes thinking about the fun i had playing this game as a kid. Good old memories that will never fade.

Most of the overworld themes were kinda meh
the battle themes were quite nice tho (except the wild theme and the elite 4 theme), but Gen 3-4 def had better music

I played Gen 5 for the first time a couple weeks ago and this has to be one of my favorite moments in gaming. To me these two don't just add instruments to the track, but they're literally inviting you to jam with them. Which I did, picked up my guitar and we played some of the greatest music Unova has ever heard.

I love the second part of it. The melody and harmony rise up and down like the tides, like two friends having a laugh with one another :D It's the spirit of joy and a life starting anew.

John Hanx They are SO worth it! Seriously, they barely miss being my favorite gen of all time. They're 1 million times better than any of the gen 6 games, so if you enjoyed those definitely pick them up. Even if you didn't like gen 6, though, I would still recommend S/M.

I almost had a stroke when I played pokemon black for the first time and walked into accumula town.
I never knew where this song was from, so it was certainly a jolt to learn it'd been sitting under my nose the entire time.

I remember first playing this game and discovering you could add instruments to the town theme. Every game following this one I have been disappointed that they never brought back this feature. Ngl, it actually brought tears of joy the first time.
