Phil you should start logging serials with a log of what you did to each console. Something real short hand that you can look back on if something similar happens. Then also compare the sticker serial with the on system serial as well. This is why I think.
Because its possible they just swapped the motherboard you fixed originaly with an other with a problem, an went back for a "warranty repair" with repair london. So in this scenario the serial number on the bottom of the screen/ chassis would not match the serial when the switch is on. But if you or repair London check the sticker serial its sure does come up as having a warranty.
Because I'm sure no one has thought about matching up sticker serials with in system serials. That's a real sneaky way to get a 2 for 1 repair.

@@TheCod3r No it's great man. And I like the little bit of humor you throw in here and there. It makes the video a little more interesting. Along with the actual repair work being done and presented. Hopefully here soon, I will fix my first Nintendo Switch that has a docking problem. I kind of regret jumping the gun and taking the P13USB chip off the board. And in the process ruining a capacitor that will be a pain to replace. lol But the good thing, is it is my personal Switch I bought broken in the fist place. I have 3 or 4 to repair for various issues. I have been buying broken consoles to practice on. So I will be more knowledgeable and know more. So when I work on somebody elese's console. I will know what to do and get it right the first time.

If you are still having a problem. Verify your TV is on correct input. Put both joy cons on the switch. Insert Switch into the dock with joycons still attached. Verify green LED is OFF on the bottom front left switch dock. If green led is on, Press the power button on the switch quickly. Just a single press. Press the power button once the LED is OFF, and it will turn green and And your switch may display on the tv. You’re able to remove the joycons after the Switch is displaying on the TV. This worked for me.

Just a suggestion as I do this, I've had people come back (very rare) when something stops working, 9/10 times it has nothing to do with the repair done I've found, however I do keep an Excel spreadsheet with the persons name, phone number, serial # of the console, what was wrong, what parts I used to fix it and the outcome of the repair (as well as price, profit, etc).
This way when one does come back within the warranty timeframe I can quickly punch in the serial # and see what I've done to said unit already.

You should right away after spotting that someone tempered with device stop ✋ give them a call and say that you can fix it but not under warranty as someone else messed it up and you have proof. They agree or no but you can not accept warranty on fix if someone else messed up. You can't be too nice in this business because people always will try use your kindness to gain free service. Maybe consider putting some kind of warranty sticker somewhere on repaired device so you can clearly see if someone opened device. Broken sticker = no warranty also try keep records what device you repair and when so you can track 3 months. Excel sheet is enough I think.
Good job anyway You have my subscription 😉

No they're filters. Filters are designed to filter out noise on the circuit, where as indicators are designed to store energy

I have put an Access database together where i record all my jobs, serial numbers etc and put notes in so that if anyone ever comes back i KNOW what i iv done and if anyone has been in it since. Happy to share my database if you wanted it.

I offer 3 month warranty on any work I do also. However If I get one back for warranty repair and I can 100% tell someone else has been inside it after its left my shop. The customer gets billed for the repair.

    • @TheCod3r

Come on Phil, get with it! warranty you should of got your log book out checked the date of repair, serial number, model number what the repair was components used etc.
This should be automatic, none of this saying I cannot remember the repair then figuring it out during your repair what you did, be professional.
    Enjoy the content!

I know you don't want to deface customer board but I'd mark the boards anyway. I mark all the board I work on, can't tell you how many times someone has switched boards and brought them back for warranty work. They buy broken consoles off ebay and switch the boards so they can get it repaired for free.
