I appreciate this video very much, have watched it many times. I struggled a lot with some of the markings, and eventually found it helpful to trace a sports bra for the top front of my pattern. Just wanted to put this tip out there for anyone else!
making the back part was kinda confusing for me so it took me some time to make it but I got a hang of it at some point....this tutorial was very useful and i shrieked when I saw this cuz i really needed this tutorial
Thankyou!! I am starting my sewing journey today, and have wanted to make corsets, stays, bodices ever since my love for fantasy sparked. Outlander 18th century stays are my goal, but starting small. These videos are so wonderful and helpful for a newbie!
I'm also starting my journey too I'm currently sewing a 17th century dress. I'm working on thr bodice but I had a guide but might try this technique looks alot easier than what my guide was. Thank you for sharing such a great video
This is great, thank you so much! I just started sewing and it’s so hard to find tutorials that really break down each step. With this method you can really create any shape you want, I’m so excited to start making my own bodice pattern :)
I actually am using this to make a corset I cut the straps and gave it a sweet heart neckline. Lol it’s just my mock up but I think this great for my very first pattern. Thank you!!!
Ive been trying to find a tutorial in how to make a bodice pattern (since Im from Asia and I dont know how to even get hold of the bodice patterns that youtubers link to) but Im so glad to finally see a tutorial! Im so excited to actually start making this :))
@@PeldynMakes so from your other video about sewing a reversible peasant bodice, I was wondering if I could add poofy sleeves on it? I dont need it to be reversible but Im still following your tutorial because its very straight forward.
I think it's amazing how you have patterns and tools from your grandmother. Its so wonderful her things are still being loved and used. ❤ Thank you very much for this video. I am brand new to pattern drafting and you make it so accessible! I'm using it to make a lace front bodice (sort of like short stays?) to go over a tank top or tshirt (in place of a shift) for everyday wear around the house in place of a bra, hoping for more comfort and back support. Thanks again!
Thank you! I have been trying to figure out how to make a reversible bodice for renaissance style clothing for years and years! ❤️ I usually just wear a vest lol
this is perfect!!! exactly what I was looking for! I am working on an elf/fairy costume for the Texas Ren Fest in a few weeks. Thank you thank thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I came from your reversible bodice video and paused many times and followed along and now I have my first ever pattern and I'm so excited to make my own reversible things I've already sketched three styles to consider/remember and I haven't even made a mock up yet!
SO excited to try this!! It has been a while since I have sewn anything - but you make the steps super easy to understand with your videos! Can't wait until your new videos come out!
My goal is to get my sewing room cleaned up this week. I let it all get crazy and now feel overwhelmed. I bought a bin to put some of the fabric in because I think it had fabric babies. I don’t remember the pile being so big!
I stumbled on your channel today and you're a godsend 🙏 I've always struggled with the instructions that come with patterns but you break it down so easily
Have fun at faire! It has been so long for me. I am going to Southern on April 30th. Probably going to wear a very old middle class outfit I made back in 2001
This is so helpful! I'm hoping to go to a fair this fall but wanted my costume to be homemade. Except my bodice attempts have always been uneven in the past. This makes it so much less nerve-wracking and a lot more exciting to do!
Omg finally, someone made a tutorial on how to make a pattern of a corset. I wanted to make one for myself but every tutorial I watch has just a link to a pattern which n.1 I don´t even know if that´s gonna fit me (there also aren't any measurements) and n.2 you have to print, I don´t have a printer.
I feel you. I have been trying to find a pattern for a men’s bowling shirt and not having any luck. If I manage to get my sewing room cleaned, I am going to take one of his old shirts and draft a pattern off of it.
I have so many planned and a sewing room that is such a mess I can’t bear to walk into it. I might do a “clean along with me” video as motivation. The pandemic really damaged me. Sorry
Thank you! I promise to make new content. My cat died a month ago and I have been very upset over it. I put some projects on the back burner until I can deal with the grief.
@@PeldynMakes so sorry to hear about your kitty. I know how you feel. My childhood cat died a few years ago (she was 20+!) and I still tear up when I look at old pictures and videos... So hard to lose a beloved companion.
Can you please make a video how to make a mock up, I'm new to sewing+English is not my first language. It will be easier for me to understand by watching you. P.S. thanks for the pattern tutorial! Very handy😊

My mind is blown.
This eliminates the frustrating process of pinching and pinning a woven cloth.
I wish I’d seen this sooner!
I am glad you found this helpful

I do love wearing a good bodice for back support.
once I run out of pattern paper im using paper bags from then on. Its so simple but so smart
I do it because that is what my grandmother did. I have patterns she made over 50 years ago. Sometimes the cheap way is the best way :)

I hate most commercial patterns. They make it harder than it should be
I might be going to the Muskogee renfaire this weekend and I JUST MIGHT be able to get something like this wearable in a few days, thank you so much!

The video on how to pin fit uses a mock up and explains it.
Do you have any tips for a newbie on getting the size of the armhole/neck hole right? I want it to look "period', but also fit my body!
The trick is to do a mock up and make adjustments for fit an comfort :)
Genius! Although I worry because the t-shirt is stretchy. Have you found a need to add any ease?
So far no, the garment is meant to have negative ease.
Ty lovely 😘
Thank you!
You are very welcome ❤️
Im so glad I found this
Teri roni if I can break out of this pandemic depression, I will make more videos. I have so many planned!
@@PeldynMakes I get you ): You inspired me! If it helps, I will definitely watch every single one of your vids because I love them!
Teri roni Thank you!
So I have to make this
Could you add sleeves to this pattern?
Yes you could. I have made tie on sleeves, but you could sew them in by hand so the bodice is still reversible
I'm wondering how you would adjust the pattern for a particularly busty girl?
While most patterns like this in period did not use darts or curved seams, you can definitely add those.
Is this do-able for beginners? I've never sewn clothing before, but I have a tiny bit of experience with a sewing machine.
If you have sewn before, you can probably do this. I am available to help with any questions you might have :)
