Mr. McPhail, i would like to first say thank you for you're expertise and for posting all of the videos you have done so far. I have been tying for myself for only a couple of years and when i look for videos you are the first tying videos i looke for. I appreciate and value you're tying methods to try and institute you're proficiency into my own methods. Thank you again.
Hi Davie.
I have watched most of your videos in the last 6 months, since my interest in flytying began, and i must say that your techniques and the way you explain what and why you do what you do, is absolutely fantastic, and it has taken me a lot further than some of the guys i tie with. Thank you for that :-)
I hope you will keep on uploading your fine work.
and i deep all the best to you.
Morten
Very Nice Davie. Thanx 4 sharing video.
🌴🏄♂️🎣Aloha
Another fantastic fly, Davie, as usual. Your fly tying videos are the best there is out there!
Great Wet Mayfly pattern...especially with the French Partridge...the brownies at a local reservoir love it when there is a Green Mayfly ( Vulgaris) hatch
Saturday 25/6/22 fishing on loch Tay with my local club , noticed a lot of large olive type flies appearing on the surface so I put on a mcphail wet mayfly I tied shortly after watching this video , and within a few hours had five lovely brown trout and dropped many more great fly I can certainly vouch for that.👍
magic stuff again Davie!keep up the good work!
Thanks Davie, much appreciated.
The best fly tyer !
Love this video..i have tied a couple for lough conn co mayo..the french partridge is a great hackle.
WOW what a great fly.
Thank you very much Davie, I didn't think veniard's wax was so sticky, I know where to buy it in France, so tomorrow I'll get one !
Thank you for the answer, best wishes from France, keep on tying such beauties !
thanks for the help davie. looking forward to your new videos. keep them coming :-)
Great Video thank you again - will tie one later
Hi davie i tied a very similar pattern a few years back but instead of using the dyed french partridge i used dyed mallard and i had one of my best days fishing at sweethope loughs. The fly took 24 fish in the space of a 4 hour session. So this is a fly you need in your box. Keep the videos coming and all the best...
Hello Davie. Love the looks and shape of this fly and bet it would do great on those big brown's in the streams. Oh by the way never mind the ones who ask dumb questions like some do. You are a master my friend. Thanks for sharing with us all again. Cheers
Best Regards, Ken
Love it ♥️
A great looking pattern Davie
Saw you tying this on sunday at the open weekend Davie! Brilliant
Regards
Alasdair
Thanks Davie.
well davie.was up with pat nolan Thursday night and got to see your salmon flies that u sent him not so long ago,i don't tie salmon flies but they looked brilliant. keep the brilliant video's coming.
Lovely tie and shape, going to have tie a few and swing them on my favourite stream.
Hey Davie, I finally got some french partridge and now I have to dye some yellow. They must be hard to come by. I am happy I ordered two packets because I got only 6 feathers in each packet! I decided I should raise French partridge in the basement for those prices. I wouldn't need to rent any space just pluck french partridge! If I feed them they will continue to grow feathers :) I will finally be tying some of these, I may do the raffia variant as well. All the best, Sean
Did enjoy it, Davie... this and the melanistic PTN, both... =]
Mike
Cheers Davie
nice fly davie
thanks a million davie. would they work on the Irish lakes. i fish killarney alot, but don't have any good dry olives patterns . would them patterns do to cover the olives or is it just the blue winged olive
nice!
Davie could you do some videos on how to fish these wet flies please.
Yet another fantastic fly from one of the best fly tyers out there. Tell me Mr. McPhail, what camera do you use to shoot your most excellent videos? I am assuming a DSLR of some variety?
Hi davie
I have watched alot of your videos and think there grewt one question I have always been woundering what wax do you use when tying ?
Thanks Davie I will give that a try. I have tried to find reference to the the wax that you use, but cannot find one anywhere. Is it possible to put one up thank you.
Beautiful fly !!!
How would you make the dry version of this one?
Thanks, Davie.
👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Davie, being enjoying your videos for some time now. Just wondering if you could do a few Irish patterns for the coming season. I mainly fish on lough corrib. Thanks
James.
magnifique Davie tankiou
Thank You Guy...👍
Hello Davie,
Thanks for helping me to look at different, and inventive ways of creating wonderful flies. Could you please tell me which knot are you using to tie on the fly at the end of your videos? Many thanks for sharing your immense talent with us.
Best wishes,
Russ
Looks like the French Partridge could be a sub for the nails of a Jungle Cock, The tips like what you clipped from the hackle looks pretty good. Might not be stiff enough. I will be tying some of my own as I really like the colors of this pattern...a real beauty. Do you think it will work on American trout even though it's an Irish pattern. LOL. Got a joke for you. A female American tourist was visiting Ireland and was so taken aback by the beautiful scenery that she waited through several green lights at the intersection. Finally the driver behind her got out and went to her and asked, 'Madam, was there a particular shade of green you were waiting for?'.
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
This style of fly fishes really well in the loughs of Ireland, and if tied smaller to represent other species of mayfly I know it would work well on rivers and lochs of America..I would also tye variants of it if you feel it would help it to fish in your waters...
All the very best Davie
Nice fly Davie, how do you store this fly, since the hackle is so long. Do you keep this in a compartment box to protect the hackle?
Cheers
Great looking fly, are there other color schemes that you use?
Davie, Try as I might unless I read the packets I cannot tell a wet hook from a dry hook.
What primarily is the difference??
Thanks in advance for your time in answering.
Sean
Hello Davie,
thank you for your so nice videos !
What kind of wax do you use ? It seems to be very sticky, did you make it yourself with Rosin ?
Thank you for the answer, and best regards from France !

Hi Carlitos Holguin,

All the very best Davie

Thanks for your time.
Derek

A couple of months ago you where asked to recommend a vice and you recommended a Nor-vise because you were going to try one out, Did you try one out and can i ask your thoughts pleas as i am looking to buy one thanks.
well davie. Patrick from tipp here. just wondering if u had any good dry fly pattern for the blue winged olive. I've been looking for ages but every book i look in there is a different pattern and its hard to tie them all :-). please help. thanks
Hey Davie, what's the music, song you use in this video? Thanks a bunch.
is it any good?
Hi Davie
How do you fish this fly?
No matter how many supplies I buy I find I still have to make variant patterns because I don't have something a pattern calls for. It is frustrating because I would like to tie them original. No French partridge this time!
hi davie ;) i was wondering if you could tie a muddler minnow its a grat fly but i need help to know how to tie it :3 all the bes from me.
