The album is about a damaged relationship, so my interpretation of it is that it's about the two growing apart and being totally different people than they were at the beginning of the relationship. That's why in the second verse he opens it with "I retrace my steps", because he wants to get back to the place he was at the start of the relationship, I haven't read the lyrics to be completely sure of that though.
i have 2 theories with variations, maybe the title is saying it maybe is talking about how it feels to love from a perspective of a person with bordeline disorder, but i incline myself to think more about the posibility that is talking about how a person cross his borderlines to full fill the hole that a beloved person left to him, can be consuming drugs, use prostitution or in a healthier way a person who just uses music and pain to fullfill that emptiness, who knows, its clearly talking about it when he says his skull has kept, defining lines and paved. like a way to say how the person left a mark on him. but thats the beauty of free interpretation.
