Sometimes it’s quite easy just to replace the main section of line every few years. I did that after blowing and vacuuming and pouring stuff in there none of which got the main crud out

Yea idk if its required where you are but our condensate lines have to go to the sewer. Secondary lines can do outside

I don't know where you're from, but here in the State of Mississippi, we always add a tee fitting with a capped-off clean out.
We don't glue the cap on. That way, if the condensate drain line ever needs to be cleaned out in the future, it can easily be serviced.
I use my trusty Gallo tool, just as you did in this video. 😏

I love how hvac guys come up with all kinds of reason these clog. 😂😂😂
Undersized and no vent hole above the flood plane. It’s ain’t gotta be up high. Just use a tee to drop down instead of an elbow. Use 1” tight wad. Every single one I replace like this has zero call backs. 14 years been doing it as a plumbing service.

Spray vinegar in it. It will desolvethe algae.

Not true, I work in Florida rule of thumb is one cup of vinegar with your filter change. Does not stop the problem.

    • @omarantonetti8417

Only prevents calcium hardening. Does not stop build up. Unless your drain is pitched perfectly. I also work in Florida (11 years HVAC) and i have seen drains maintain themselves clean with vinegar and steamy warm water flush but ultimately it still clogs. A solid $40 wet/dry vac will work wonders with the flush so you don't have to call us out for something simple (prices for drain clearing are getting silly)

Vacuuming leaves crap in the line also, don’t be fooled a shop vac does not have that powerful of suction to get it all either.
If you use a shop vac I recommend placing outside at the exit point and pouring water through the secondary drain/float location on the evaporator pan this will ensure that you have something to help pull the algae out with the suction of the shop vac you will come to find out that it may take 2-3 gallons to fully flush along with a shop vac. Shop vacs and air are temporary clog solutions.
Look up easy tee flushing with a water hose is the best solution as it carries the volume and pressure. Combine an easy tee and a drain solvent to make your line good as new. As this algae overtime calcified into a hard sludge if not addressed properly causing the need for a new drain line.
The source of the problem is still in the evaporator pan and will need to be addressed via filtration, maintenance and or uv light.
And his drain line was real short and part of the home’s primary drain system not allowed in my area but to be honest makes his life easier and less to worry about. So good luck finding that point of hook up. Both practices work as temporary solutions. @mrjoey1570
@worldofhvac I recommend checking out HVACschool on TH-cam also known as Kalos services in Florida drain line are our enemies and they go over all parts of primary drain health cleaning and causes.

@mrjoey1570 you’re gonna cut the line to shop vac it when it’s that short?
Shop vac is not a permanent solution to clearing a drain line either. You will need to flush the drain line with water and a shop vac to get the volume of algae to carry out , or the shop vac will just suck around the algae. Problem with suction or blowing the line is that the air takes the path of least resistance and if it isn’t clogged it will leave most of the algae in its place. Which is why with both methods you have to pair water with it. Which is messy and time consuming. If you do the shop vac method place 1-3 gallons of water through the evaporator pan via float switch or secondary pan outlet with the shop vac at the exit point for the best result the water volume will help carry the algae out
Look into a A/C easy tee flushing it is the best method to clearing a drain line especially paired with a drain solvent. This is a more permanent solution to clearing a line.
The problem starts at maintenance, filtration and uv lights from the return side of the system.
@worldofhvac check out HVACschool (kalos services) here on TH-cam they do great in-depth presentations and information on drain line health/causes.

The tremendous force produced by the best man-made vacuums is equivalent to the force produced by 440 thousand billion psi of positive pressure. However, the average vacuum that we use is only between a mere 0 psia - 14.7 psia.
So, it would actually be better to blow out the condensate drain lines using positive pressure instead of a vacuum cleaner.
