Love the overview of the new Adapt series, cannot wait to start selling them. Very clear and concise and has me excited for your future videos of all models!
What an informative video! Just shared your channel with my team and I think everyone's going to really benefit from watching your videos, thanks in advance!
Hello Mike. By far the best source for Tempurpedic info on TH-cam. No cheesy puns or scripted dialogue, it translates very well for the viewer! I tested all of the Adapt models in-store a few days ago and regardless of price as it honestly wasn't an issue, we both preferred the standard/cheapest Adapt (all foam, medium) model the best. There wasn't a Pro-Adapt medium in-store to test but we did try a Pro-Adapt firm and that was second place. We both felt that the standard Adapt medium was pretty close to perfect for cushioning depth and softness. We both prefer a medium firm to firm mattress and are combo sleepers but I am personally on my side 8 out of 10 times. The ProAdapt firm felt a tad too hard for side sleeping IMO, at least on the store model (don't know how long it's been on display). My concern is that the standard Adapt medium will increase in cushioning depth another 15-30% over the first year leading to too much sinkage. Whereas if the same thing happened on the ProAdapt firm, it would then be closer to the standard Adapt medium after "breaking it in". In your professional opinion having dealt with and being around Tempurpedic, can you put an educated guess on how much the "cushioning depth" changes on the all foam models (pecifically the Adapt medium and ProAdapt firm) after say 3-6 months of regular use? I've been sleeping on a full 12" Dunlop latex mattress for the last ten years and generally like the feeling on being on-top of the mattress instead of being in it. Neither the Adapt medium nor ProAdapt firm felt like we were in it too much but worried that the Adapt medium will end up that way in 3-6 months. I'd put up with less than ideal sleep comfort for a few months if it meant that the firm would transition closer to medium after break-in. Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Hi there -- Thanks so much for your kind words! It's always nice to hear that our honest, straightforward approach resonates with people. Re: your question, I can do even better than an educated guess in this case, since we've actually done some pertinent fatigue testing here, which simulates 10 years of use. The answer here will actually depend on your weight. Can you give me a rough idea of how much you weigh? Also, FWIW, we found the ProAdapt Medium to have the same softness level as the Adapt Medium, with slightly less cushioning depth. The hybrid versions, as you probably already found, are a little softer. I created a comparison of all the mediums in the Adapt collection for you here: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=tempur-adapt-medium&mod=tempur-adapt-medium-hybrid&mod=tempur-pedic-medium-1&mod=tempur-proadapt-medium-hybrid&mod=tempur-luxeadapt-medium-hybrid I hope that's helpful.
@goodbed Thanks for the prompt response! That would match up with our findings as we definitely felt the hybrid model to have too much sinkage or cushioning depth for our tastes. I am 6'0", 200lbs and my girlfriend is 5'10, 155lbs while both having "athletic" build types. In that case, it sounds like it may be worthwhile finding a local retailer that has a ProAdapt medium on display to test against the Adapt medium and ProAdapt firm as we do prefer that less sinkage or cushioning depth feeling. I'll check out your provided comparison link in the meantime and look forward to hearing about your fatigue testing based upon our weights!
@@FisherFAST OK, sounds good. In your case I wouldn't expect the cushioning depth on these T-P models to change more than 1/4" during that time frame. Is that helpful for you?
@goodbed Thanks! Sounds like if it's generally only a 1/4" more depression or softening and not something like 1/2-3/4", then the firm would probably still be too hard for my weight during side sleeping.
@@FisherFAST Yeah, if you were looking at only the difference in cushioning depth, those two models aren't that far apart to start with, so it's possible the Firm could get close to the Medium. But on Softness, they are much further apart. So if you're looking for its softness to change in order to aid with pressure relief when side sleeping, I don't think it's going to get anywhere close to the Medium on that front.
@@goodbedquestion: is there such thing as too firm of a base to support a higher end mattress like tempur-pedic? We just changed our bed and added a bunkie board. It’s now much firmer of a feel. Is there such thing as too much support?
I hope Costco will carry the 2018 Tempurpedic line being that it’s discontinued, like they did for the contour supreme and cloud supreme. The ones they currently offer, looks cheaper in comparison to what they used to carry.
Hey there! We've discussed these models internally, but haven't seen them firsthand. In our opinion, these look similar to an older version of the Adapt line, although there are a few things in the stated specs that are a bit confusing to us. On balance, we generally feel more comfortable recommending the Adapt models.
We purchased a adjustable spilt King twin mattresses. My husband selected the Tempur-pedic ProAdapt hybrid. He really like it and it gives him support. I selected the LuxeAdapt soft. However, it really hurts my shoulder. What is the difference. We had the Sealy Posterpedic Hybrid Elite. I really like this bed, but switched for my husband. What is the difference with these mattress?
We got the Luxeadapt Medium Hybrid and have had it for a week. Definitely needs to break in because we are finding it quite firm. Shoulder pain for me and hip pain for my partner. Also sleeps hot for us. Going to give it 30 days to see if we adjust to it. We used to have a Cloud Supreme Breeze that we loved but wanted to try out a hybrid. May have to look at an all foam model again. Thanks for the great and informative review.
That's understandable. And yep, Tempur-Pedic generally has a bit more of a break-in relative to other brands in our experience. We'd recommend trying to give it at least a few weeks before you make up your mind on an exchange or return. I hope that's helpful.
@@luvladydi we ended up returning ours. It did soften and get more comfortable but retained a lot of heat and we couldn't make it work. It really is a nice mattress though! I bet you will love it!
One thing Im wondering, then I swear ill try to have more positive things to say in future comments, is how much will the reduction in quality in the polyfoam support and transition layers on tempurs effect the overall reliability. Ive read that they used to include 2.2lb foam for these layers in their beds, but now its all only 1.6lb poly. To me when youre sending upwards of $5k on some of these Tempur beds, to only have 1.6lb poly is kind of cheaping out on the customer. I do realize it's usually the comfort layers which go out on you first, and they still mostly use very high quality 4.8-5.5lb memory foam there with the exception of their entry level line of beds. I wonder if this is something where they just felt like 1.6lb poly is good enough to outlast the comfort layer. I actually like Tempur as a bed, just feel they are a bit overpriced and at that price point their customers deserve the highest quality foams.
@@samch9031 We all know that will NEVER happen with Tempur-Pedic. Lucky to ever see a couple to few hundred off ever. Maybe few bucks more on Cloud models.
@@johnnyBqwazy it's possible. I actually got 65% off MSRP on a Tempur-pedic prima. Although it is with a competitor pricing. As for bargaining $1000 off a $2800 tempur-pedic, I think it wouldn't be easy but definitely possible. I actually only paid $1000+tax for the tempur-pedic that MSRP at $2849.
@@johnnyBqwazyor you can work at a retailer for a bit. Employee sales looking at up to 75 Percent off ! Can’t resist at that point. Going for a luxe adapt pro smart base combo !
in canada were limited on tempur available models. i was looking at the probreeze medium non hybrid, or the luxeadpt medium hybrid (we dont have the breeze hybrids available here for whatever dumb reason). we do have a luxebreeze but non hybrid. the luxeadpt hybrid medium and probreeze non hybrid medium are very close in price from2. rretailers i looked at. which one would u recomend?
Hi there -- Have you used our comparison tool? This is going to provide the most detailed and precise answer to this question. Here's a full side-by-side comparison of those two models: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=tempur-pro-breeze-medium&mod=tempur-luxeadapt-medium-hybrid In terms of feel, they are going to have very similar cushioning depth and conformance, but the Medium Hybrid is a LOT softer. We found the LuxeAdapt Medium Hybrid to be a bit better fit for lighter side sleepers while the ProBreeze Medium will match up better with a wider variety of sleep positions. As you'll see in the comparison, there are a number of other differences as well. I hope that's helpful.
Better is a bit tricky here, but most people would consider the Breeze line to be an upgrade, yes. The Breeze mattresses have more cooling features which are prioritized with memory foam mattresses. They also have a slightly firmer feel, in our experience.
@@goodbed in canada we only have the probreeze in medium NON hybrid. the only way to get a hybrid is the luxe adapt. its a tough choice as their both very close in price. i figured maybe the hybrid would be cooler as much as the breeze since the inner coil springs have a ton of open air space vs an all dense foam?
Good question. Taking a look at this now, and it appears like the Align Pro Lo had a slightly different formulation of internal foam than the Adapt Pillows. Both are available in different heights, but the Adapt Pillows appear to be more of a single slab of memory foam than the Align Pillows. Hope that helps.
@ thanks for the reply and yes it does help me out a bit! So is a single slab better or worse in your opinion? I can barely find info on these pillows online. Seems like stores carry different models though
@ Yeah I’ve tried them in person all feel quite similar but couldn’t get direct comparison as different retailers have different models or model names. The Tempur adapt definitely felt nice as well as the Tempur Align Pro (lo,mid/high). At this point I will just spend my money with who treats me better cause it seems like they’re all the same. Including mattresses and pillows alike. And all retailers big box or family owned I’ve visited just seem to say “nah those guys suck (when talking about competitors) blah blah they don’t know what they’re talking about”
@@zureai Well, we can certainly help with mattresses! With pillows it's a bit more difficult, although we can say that "cooling" treatments are nice but are typically short-lived and come at a premium price. Also, we generally think highly of Tempur's foams, so probably can't go wrong there.
Hello! I would like to know the differences between the new version of LuxeAdapt Soft and the old version of LuxeAdapt Soft: memory effect, softness, and sink depth. Thank you! 😊
one more thing,The Tempur material is a type of temperature-sensitive material. All its performance characteristics are related to a specific temperature. Therefore, I’d like to know approximately what the indoor temperature was during your testing. 🌡
Can you tell a little more about the new hybrid material? Since it it faster responding im wondering if it would also have a lower density or lower quality and durability than the other foams. Thanks!
Great question. The ProAdapt Firm has a bit less Tempur Material and will feel pretty firm. The LuxeAdapt has more Tempur Material but will actually feel slightly firmer but with more cushioning depth. The LuxeAdapt also adds a zoned transition layer for a bit of extra support in the hips. Here's a full side-by-side comparison of the two with more details: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=tempur-pro-adapt-firm&mod=tempur-luxeadapt-firm Hope that helps!
Hello! Regarding the newly added 5-zone support layer in the LuxeAdapt mattress, is it symmetrical from head to toe? I noticed one diagram showing its core positioned in the center, which is relatively firm and supports the hip area. However, another diagram indicates that the hips are placed in a softer region. These two diagrams seem contradictory. If the mattress is symmetrical and interchangeable, it should align with the first scenario.
This is something we noticed as well. You have a very good eye! So we believe this is a symmetrical five-zone poly foam layer in the style of most five-zone mattress layers -- ie, with the center zone positioned in the middle of the mattress and squarely under a person's hips. The one image showing otherwise is likely to be a mistake, in our opinion. With regards to your other question - this version is very near to the last generation, but with the addition of this five-zone poly foam layer to allow for additional conformance and support.
Can you do a review of the Costco Tempur pedicure Supreme hybrid? At $2,200.00 for a King hybrid. I’d like to know where they compare between the adapt and Pro Adapt hybrid which I’m looking at.
Generally speaking, stomach sleepers do best with a mattress in the medium to firm range. However, sometimes softer options can still work for this depending on their construction. We'd feel most comfortable recommending the Medium options. The Medium all-foam models are also a tiny bit firmer than the Hybrids, and might be worth looking at for this reason.
Hey there! So we do think that the Hybrid should be the cooler option here, as the underlying pocket springs should allow for more airflow than a foam base. Hope that helps!
This a great video but I'm hoping you can guide me a bit here... Found a mattress store that is selling the pro adapt soft mattress for 50 percent off the floor model to make room for the pro adapt 2.0 line ... No one else around is offering this deal. Is there, in your opinion enough of a difference between the pro adapt soft and the pro adapt soft 2.0 to just wait for the new line? Nobody has the 2.0 on the floor to even compare the difference... I would be saving almost $3000 to buy the floor model but if there is enough of a difference I would wait for the new line... What are your thoughts?
Hi Michael -- There may be a few things to factor in here: 1. The difference between 1.0 and 2.0 2. The difference between a floor model and a new model 3. The difference in the return policy for the floor model vs a new model 4. The difference in warranty support for the floor model vs a new model IMHO, #1 is not enough to pay an extra $3,000. However, #2 could be very significant, and in many cases would be worth an extra $3,000 on its own. And of course, #3 and #4 are also relevant factors to consider, since floor models typically don't have any kind of return policy, and may or may not even come with a normal warranty. I hope that's helpful.
So would you say the new LuxeAdapt firm is more firm than the outgoing model? I have the ProAdapt Firm and yes it was ultra firm but now 2 years in it’s become pretty soft and I’m actually working on a warranty claim now because it’s become indented using the quarter method they requested. So I’m trying to figure out knowing that I am a stomach sleeper over 230, what would be a good replacement as I can buy up and pay the difference. Also yes @goodbed I appreciate your reviews the most. The most informative and where I don’t feel you are just saying positive comments to help sell beds. You give honest feedback.
Great video Review. I have the Tempur Pedic Classic II mattress and it's the best mattress I've ever slept on. It's more on the firm side and I do like to sleep a little firmer. How would you compare the Adapt medium foam to the Pro Adapt Firm in firmness? Looking to buy another mattress now. Thanks in advance!
Hey Sam! So we'd say the Adapt Medium is about a Medium Firm and the Pro Adapt Firm is closer to a Very Firm or Ultra Firm. You can check both in our written overviews here: www.goodbed.com/reviews/tempur-adapt-mattress-preview/
@@goodbed thanks for the reply! I went to the store to test sleep them myself. The adapt was too soft. Pro adapt firm is the closest thing to my current mattress(but still a tiny bit softer). I ended up getting the Prima firm (different name from different stores) from sleep country. It's a bit more firm than my current one but it was such a great deal couldn't resist. $1100cad or $800usd for a Twin! I'm putting that beside my current double bed. Awesome videos btw!
I have been reading the luxeadapt 2.0 medium hybrid is a little more soft compared to the luxebreeze 2.0 medium hybrid? I can't find a direct comparison video. I have just been reading threads online. I am going to a tempurpedic store tomorrow to try them out.
I tried the activebreeze in medium hybrid and tbh, I am not sold on it. The fans are so so, imo. I have tried the luxebreeze in medium hybrid and I don't see much of a difference. Though, I am curious now with both luxeadapt and luxebreeze medium hybrids. I have been reading the feel is softer with the luxeadapt.
Hi Nick, I can confirm that our testing showed the LuxeBreeze Hybrid to have slightly deeper cushioning, but the LuxeAdapt Hybrid to indeed be the softer of the two. Here is a full side-by-side comparison of them both: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=tempur-luxeadapt-medium-hybrid&mod=tempur-breeze-luxebreeze-hybrid-medium Obviously, our assessments of the LuxeAdapt Hybrid can be seen in this video. looking for some guidance... we are Original Tempur-Pedic user from 20 years ago... It was time to replace. We Purchased the LuxAdapt 2.0 firm and currently we’re 45 days into the Tempur-Pedic LuxAdapt Firm set. My wife and I are both experiencing issues (pain) we’ve never had before and interrupted sleep. I'm having symptoms with Shoulder pain and Collar Bone pain which I'd never had before.... I'm 6'1" 180lbs. mostly side sleeper. I went to the Orthopedic DR and had my shoulders checked X-ray. No issues with arthritis or tears... and concluded its the mattress.
Firm is probably too hard for side sleepers. When I had a mattress that was too hard I was waking up with shoulder and neck pain and a numb arm if I slept on my side. Perhaps see if you can swap for a softer mattress.
Hi, is it worth to pay more for the pro adapt instead of the adapt? Is there that much of a difference between the two? I am looking at the medium firmness for both models since I am combo sleeper. Thanks for the help.
Hey great question! Memory foam tends to be an exceptional material with regards to pressure relief, and even firm memory foam can still do an excellent job of relieving pressure. That said, pressure relief is a complicated thing, and not everyone likes the feel of firm memory foam. As such, we'd recommend giving these a try in person if you can. Does that make sense? We also have a store locator on our website that might be helpful: www.goodbed.com/mattress-store-locator/tempur-pedic/
@@goodbed yea it’s a tough call. When I bought the contour elite there was one firmer model that I didn’t opt for. I love this conout elite but it’s time. I’m wondering if the 2024 foams smell any better than 2023. I got 2 of the adjustable pillows with the removeable shredded foam. Smelled so bad I threw them away.
@@HeidiLovesNYC They don’t make Tempur like they used too. They have gone away using higher density foam like the contour elite had. Your best bet is to get the pro adapt firm, it’s closest to the contour elite in my honest opinion. Kinda disappointing.
@@johnb7411 yea I have to go over there. But the showroom beds are always broken in anyway so who can tell. The luxe firm sounds like a rock which would be a problem.
I found the luxe adapt medium hybrid too firm for me as a lightweight side sleeper but like it for back sleeping. Would you say that the Pro adapt medium hybrid might be a little softer and better for a side sleeper as the coil system is not double layered?
That one should be coming in a bit! Using a coil unit as a ventilated air chamber is a fascinating and innovative bit of design and we can't wait to test it in a more significant capacity. So yeah, we're excited about it too.
So we've discussed the Costco Supreme line internally, and some of the choices there don't make a ton of sense to us? Namely, they seem to reverse the Comfort and Support layers on these models to keep them distinct from the regular Adapt line. And while this could be a mistake on their website, we generally feel more comfortable recommending the Adapt models for this reason. Otherwise they seem very similar. Hope that helps.
Hi Bill, you can use a "foundation" - and Tempur sells matching foundations to go with their mattresses. You can also put these on any kind of solid platform or adjustable base. However you cannot use an old-school "box spring" (ie, one that actually has springs in it), because that will not provide adequate underlying support for this style of mattress. I hope that's helpful.
@@billl1451 OK, got it. Just FYI, the term "box spring" refers specifically to the old kind of mattress foundation that was literally a wood box with springs in it. In any case, the key determinant for use of a modern wooden foundation will be how structurally solid it is and how close together are the wood slats going across the top of it (gaps of 3" or less should be OK). I hope that's helpful.
Bought a pro adapt medium hybrid in February and love it but now we’re torn since they released a newer version whether we use the 100 night trial and swap out our 1.0 for the 2.0. It’s like buying a new iPhone and then a new model releasing not even two months later. Part of me wants the latest and greatest
Yeah it's a fair question. We don't think there are a lot of discernible differences between those models. Both are high-quality. And if you're already sleeping well, then I definitely wouldn't exchange and potentially lose that!
@@RadSurfDad843 They've tweaked the foams slightly (though the full details on these changes are not available). That's really about it. These are very very similar to the previous builds.
Hi... how's it going? Hope all is well. Im in a market for mattress, we liked the cushion with luxeadapt for comfort but wanting more cooler. Is probreeze a better one? Thanks in advance.🙏👌
@@evox6245 You've nailed it yep! The LuxeBreeze models are the slightly more conforming models in the overall Breeze Collection. We pulled the trigger on the Luxe adapt medium hybrid. It's comfy and my wife loves it but for some reason it's hot and I'm a hot sleeper. Trying to do some research and might change my protector and bed sheets. Hopefully it helps and i don't have to switch to Luxebreeze💰 🤑🤑. Thanks 🙏
I got the proAdapt medium hybrid. I feel like it is too soft and my lower back is sore. What matress should I get. The firm or medium? I dont like the hybrid.
We're sorry to hear that. Can we ask how long have you had the ProAdapt Hybrid? It's possible that it might still be breaking-in and your alignment may improve in the coming weeks.
Do you know of any high density foam mattresses that would give you a similar feel to the TP but at a fraction of the cost? I know it can never be the same, but there has to be one that is similar right? We tried Helix Sunset, that foam felt similar to latex and it seems like most of those online companies have that kind of foam. We did get a chance to lay on a MLily Supreme hybrid and it seems pretty close. Would you agree and would you have any other recommendations?
So this is a question we get a lot. Off the top of my head, there's not much that's widely available that has the same slow-responding, dense feel of a Tempur-Pedic. You could try some of the Beautyrest Black Hybrids in Medium and Firm (and these will also be updated soon), but there's not much else that comes to mind on a national level. Alternatively, you could also take a look at our new filtered search on our website. Here's a link with "lots of memory feel" already selected: www.goodbed.com/mattress-models/?memory-feel=3 I hope that's helpful.
It really depends on what's causing the back pain. If your current mattress is worn out or unsupportive in general, then you might just need a new mattress. However, if you want extra support in your lower back, then you might want to look at mattresses with some amount of "zoning," or reinforced support in the middle third of the mattress. Serta's new models all have some amount of this, as does Tempur's LuxeAdapt collection. Many other online brands have hybrids with some amount of zoned support - some of these are included in the link below. Hope that helps! www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-brenham-soft&mod=winkbeds-winkbed&mod=brooklyn-bedding-aurora-medium&mod=nolah-evolution-15-hybrid
Purchased a Luxe Breeze 2.0 Firm a year ago but is way too firm for me (I have lower back pain and a side/back sleeper). I’m going to give it to my brother and looking at the Luxe Adapt Hybrid Medium or Luxe Breeze Hybrid Medium. Is the $1300 worth the cooling technology? Also is a medium Hybrid good for pain relief over a Firm Memory Foam? Thanks 🙏
So this is a question we get sometimes and it's a little difficult to answer as we don't have accurate specs on the Costco models. That said, if we go by the diagrams on the Costco pages it appears that the memory foam layers have been reversed on their models. As such we have more confidence in recommending the more widely available Tempur line. Hope that helps!
Always the best bed reviews, nice job! This is the first change they have made to their mattresses ( non-breeze) in 5-6 years. I am so disappointed and underwhelmed. They literally put the same product back out with adding a hybrid, which should’ve always been there in the luxe line. An adding a new layer of foam in pro adapt and up are the only changes of note. A very uninspiring, apathetic effort from Sealy-Tempur.
Hey there! We can understand some frustration here (sometimes "new" is very exciting and it can be disappointing when a new release doesn't look so new), but we'd also make the point that there are some distinctly new things in these models. Here's a quick list. 1. There have been some subtle tweaks to existing foams to improve pressure relief and diminish heat retention. 2. There is a relatively new foam in the Hybrid Material. We first saw this on last year's Breeze update, and it's now being used more broadly on select hybrid models. 3. The LuxeAdapt Hybrid has a unique coil-on-coil design that's distinctly different from the Adapt and ProAdapt Hybrids. 4. The LuxeAdapt Soft and Firm now also have a zoned transition foam to allow for a little more conformance and support. So there've been a few subtle changes to the Adapt and ProAdapt models and a few major ones to the LuxeAdapt line. You should be able to read more about these in our written overviews linked above. I hope that's helpful.
@@goodbed I get it that they improved on some cooling features by using vented Tempur foam on the pro adapt/ lux adapt, also by adding hybrid to the luxeadapt this time around. But what I’m disappointed about is that Tempur-pedic is not disclosing what kind of foams was they using now. They’ve gone away from the terms like Tempur-HD or Tempur-ES for “Tempur material”. Not real transparent if I’m being honest. As much as I appreciate the cooling features they add to this line of mattresses, but I believe using lower density foams is a big draw back for Tempur, I know the previous Contour/Rhapsody line used higher densities in their foams
@@johnb7411agree. I wish they were not hiding the foam densities also. Coming from a contour elite I want the same quality not something that’s going to sag on me in a short time
@@johnb7411Yep, it is a bit confusing. And we understand that "Tempur Material" can sound a bit vague. Tempur-APR is also now just "Advanced Relief Material." That said, we've not seen a significant decrease in quality or density on their memory foam relative to last generation. Most of their memory foam still meet our standards for HD and UHD foam. The only possible exception there would be the previously mentioned Tempur-ES Material, which we suspect is probably a slightly lower density to allow for surface softness. Still, this was present in the last generation as well.
@@goodbed Really? As far as I know, the previous generation of LuxeAdapt Soft extensively used Tempur-ES material to enhance its soft feel. If the new generation of LuxeAdapt Soft no longer uses Tempur-ES material, the overall sensory experience should be quite different from the previous version.
I just purchased two Twin XL Adaptpro Medium Hybrids today and Innova bases for a Split King. I hope I made a wise decision. I have 3 diseased and damaged discs in my back with nerve pain throughout my back, legs, and hips. I have had several people recommend this line of mattresses to me.
All good but the memory feel rating was based on the thickness of the foam but not how it felt to you. The number is unimportant compared to what it actually feels like and the 2 are not necessarily equivalent.
Hi there -- Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure where you got that impression, however our Memory Feel ratings are all based entirely on the feel of the memory foam, not the amount of it. The amount of memory foam plays into the feel of course, but often it's not as important as the nature of that memory foam and how responsive it really is. This is why sometimes a mattress with, say, one inch of high-density, slow-responding memory foam can be rated to have more Memory Feel in our assessments than a mattress with, say, 3 inches of quick-recovery lower-density memory foam. I hope that's helpful.
What confuses me in your rating scale is that it is the opposite of what seems to be the standard 1-10 scale used by mattress companies-I.e., 1-3 is soft, 4-6 is medium firmness, and 7-10 is the firm. In my opinion, if you used the same 1-10 scale for your Softness rating, a firm rating would be between 7-10; in the video you rated the softness of the mattress you were on as 1 saying it was firm on the softness scale. I think that’s confusing.
Hi there, thanks for your feedback. I do understand that it can be frustrating for our scale to be different. FWIW, there are a few reasons we do it this way. First, in the construction of a mattress, "firmness" is not a feature -- it is the absence of a feature. If you were truly maximizing firmness, you would just sleep on the floor with no mattress at all. So, assigning a high number when a mattress has very little of something or a low number when a mattress has a lot of something just doesn't make intuitive sense. The other reason we don't use a "firmness" scale is that the word "firm" can be very confusing and misleading for mattress shoppers. We've seen countless people make the mistake of buying a "firm" mattress thinking that when it comes to mattresses, "firm" simply means "good" or "good support." The reality is that what the industry today calls a "firm" mattress is about comfort, not support. Good support can be found on both "firm" and "soft" mattresses, and in fact some people will not actually be able to get the proper spinal alignment they need (let alone pressure relief, comfort, etc.) on a "firm" mattress. Knowing this, we felt that giving firmer mattresses a higher rating would make them seem "better" and therefore would lean into that confusion. Unfortunately, the backstory here is that about 10 years ago, a bunch of people who knew nothing about mattresses started websites to review mattresses. Knowing nothing, they thought firm really did mean good, so they created "firmness" scales. And they proceeded to blanket the internet with this flawed concept to the point that many manufacturers today have even followed suit, as you noted. But this is not how the industry used to think about this. And in our humble opinion, having been doing this longer than anyone on the internet (since 2008), it is not the right way to think about it. Net, we do things differently than other sites because we know more than them about mattresses, and we actually care about making sure our readers pick the right mattress. This example you cited is just one of many. Another obvious one you may have noticed is that we are the only mattress information website that doesn't publish "best mattress" lists. Mattresses are an extremely personal product, meaning the best mattresses for me will be very different from the best ones for you. Thus, any "best mattress" list is both meaningless and highly misleading -- and that's to say nothing of the fact that every one of those review sites simply sells the spots on their lists to the brands who pay them the most money. Anyway, I'm sure that's way more than you ever wanted to know , but hopefully you can at least appreciate that we do in fact have a thoughtful rationale for why we do things the way we do. Thanks again for your comment.
Love the overview of the new Adapt series, cannot wait to start selling them. Very clear and concise and has me excited for your future videos of all models!
Hey glad to hear it!
What an informative video! Just shared your channel with my team and I think everyone's going to really benefit from watching your videos, thanks in advance!
Thanks very much!
I created a comparison of all the mediums in the Adapt collection for you here: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=tempur-adapt-medium&mod=tempur-adapt-medium-hybrid&mod=tempur-pedic-medium-1&mod=tempur-proadapt-medium-hybrid&mod=tempur-luxeadapt-medium-hybrid
I hope that's helpful.
Best video of tempurpedic out there
Hey thanks very much!
@@goodbedquestion: is there such thing as too firm of a base to support a higher end mattress like tempur-pedic? We just changed our bed and added a bunkie board. It’s now much firmer of a feel. Is there such thing as too much support?
good video, i wonder if you guys would ever look at the new Tempur-Pedic offerings from Costco and where they would sit compared to these models
I hope Costco will carry the 2018 Tempurpedic line being that it’s discontinued, like they did for the contour supreme and cloud supreme. The ones they currently offer, looks cheaper in comparison to what they used to carry.
I wish I could get a contour elite. Amazing bed
Just started selling at a furniture store. I appreciate your video. Thank you!
I am shopping the Adapt line now. What a great comparison of the models. I needed that ❤
We got the Luxeadapt Medium Hybrid and have had it for a week.
@@goodbed yes very helpful! Thanks! Definitely a quality mattress and really hoping it works out!
Oh dear. Just ordered the luxehybrid myself. It will replace all foam one. Hope it won't be to firm... 😮
@@luvladydi we ended up returning ours. It did soften and get more comfortable but retained a lot of heat and we couldn't make it work. It really is a nice mattress though! I bet you will love it!
I'm actually thinking about going for the lux hybrid. I had the pro adapt hybrid and it wasn't as supportive as the lux hybrid.
Try to get around 50% off the MSRP. Then it won't feel as bad. Tempur Pedic are really quite expensive.
I actually only paid $1000+tax for the tempur-pedic that MSRP at $2849.

in canada were limited on tempur available models. i was looking at the probreeze medium non hybrid, or the luxeadpt medium hybrid (we dont have the breeze hybrids available here for whatever dumb reason). we do have a luxebreeze but non hybrid. the luxeadpt hybrid medium and probreeze non hybrid medium are very close in price from2. rretailers i looked at. which one would u recomend?
Hi there -- Have you used our comparison tool? This is going to provide the most detailed and precise answer to this question. Here's a full side-by-side comparison of those two models: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=tempur-pro-breeze-medium&mod=tempur-luxeadapt-medium-hybrid
In terms of feel, they are going to have very similar cushioning depth and conformance, but the Medium Hybrid is a LOT softer. We found the LuxeAdapt Medium Hybrid to be a bit better fit for lighter side sleepers while the ProBreeze Medium will match up better with a wider variety of sleep positions. As you'll see in the comparison, there are a number of other differences as well. I hope that's helpful.
Can you give us your take on the costco supreme version as it relates to what we can get in other stores?
would the breeze line up be "betteR" then the adapt line up?
Better is a bit tricky here, but most people would consider the Breeze line to be an upgrade, yes. The Breeze mattresses have more cooling features which are prioritized with memory foam mattresses. They also have a slightly firmer feel, in our experience.
@@goodbed in canada we only have the probreeze in medium NON hybrid. the only way to get a hybrid is the luxe adapt. its a tough choice as their both very close in price. i figured maybe the hybrid would be cooler as much as the breeze since the inner coil springs have a ton of open air space vs an all dense foam?
The adapt lineup conforms much better to the body
What’s the difference between tempur align pro lo and tempur adapt pillows?? Haahah this is such a trip. Just older model name im assuming?
Good question. Taking a look at this now, and it appears like the Align Pro Lo had a slightly different formulation of internal foam than the Adapt Pillows. Both are available in different heights, but the Adapt Pillows appear to be more of a single slab of memory foam than the Align Pillows. Hope that helps.
@ thanks for the reply and yes it does help me out a bit! So is a single slab better or worse in your opinion? I can barely find info on these pillows online. Seems like stores carry different models though
@@zureai Pillows are pretty variable and there's not really a clear best here. Have you been able to try either in person?
Thanks!
What is the difference between ProAdapt Firm and Luxe Adapt Firm? They seem very similar.
Here's a full side-by-side comparison of the two with more details: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=tempur-pro-adapt-firm&mod=tempur-luxeadapt-firm

@@goodbed It does! Thank you so much for your help!
Great video. Thanks!
So for the money, which one would you recommend?
I am sleeping in a luxe breeze medium hybrid and it’s hurting my back and I’m a side sleeper. What bed would you recommend for me to try next.
Qq for ya: Is the Luxe Adapt Soft the “softest”/plushest bed in Tempur Pedic’s 2024 line up? I think so but wanted to ask your opinion. Thanks 🙏🏼
Yep! We think so.
What’s the recommended one for stomach sleepers?
Generally speaking, stomach sleepers do best with a mattress in the medium to firm range. However, sometimes softer options can still work for this depending on their construction.
We'd feel most comfortable recommending the Medium options. The Medium all-foam models are also a tiny bit firmer than the Hybrids, and might be worth looking at for this reason.
If comparing Adapt all-foam medium vs Adapt hybrid, would one sleep cooler than the other? I am aware that Pro Adapt is supposed to be cooler
Hi Michael -- There may be a few things to factor in here:
1. The difference between 1.0 and 2.0
2. The difference between a floor model and a new model
3. The difference in the return policy for the floor model vs a new model
4. The difference in warranty support for the floor model vs a new model
IMHO, #1 is not enough to pay an extra $3,000.
It's a bit more firm than my current one but it was such a great deal couldn't resist. $1100cad or $800usd for a Twin! I'm putting that beside my current double bed.

I tried the activebreeze in medium hybrid and tbh, I am not sold on it. The fans are so so, imo. I have tried the luxebreeze in medium hybrid and I don't see much of a difference. Though, I am curious now with both luxeadapt and luxebreeze medium hybrids. I have been reading the feel is softer with the luxeadapt.

looking for some guidance... we are Original Tempur-Pedic user from 20 years ago...
This does sound like a mattress firmness issue, yes. If it doesn't improve, then you might consider swapping out to a less firm model.
Hi, is it worth to pay more for the pro adapt instead of the adapt? Is there that much of a difference between the two? I am looking at the medium firmness for both models since I am combo sleeper. Thanks for the help.
I found the Adapt medium hybrid to be MUCH firmer than the Proadapt medium hybrid, so yes there is a significant difference
I am going to be buying a tempurpedic to replace my old one. This is so helpful to have your input. Would either firm be pressure point relieving?
Hey great question! Memory foam tends to be an exceptional material with regards to pressure relief, and even firm memory foam can still do an excellent job of relieving pressure. That said, pressure relief is a complicated thing, and not everyone likes the feel of firm memory foam. As such, we'd recommend giving these a try in person if you can. Does that make sense?

I found the luxe adapt medium hybrid too firm for me as a lightweight side sleeper but like it for back sleeping. Would you say that the Pro adapt medium hybrid might be a little softer and better for a side sleeper as the coil system is not double layered?
I found the Proadapt medium hybrid to definitely be softer than the Luxeadapt version. I think the extra foam in the Luxeadapt version makes it firmer

Where do the newer supreme costco models land? its a newer supreme.. but has the classic 11.5 profile.. theres a hybrid option in medium.
I feel the best one I love and want to buy is the Adapt hybrid medium full size for me because I dont need anything bigger then that mattress.
can you use a box spring with these mattresses
Hi Bill, you can use a "foundation" - and Tempur sells matching foundations to go with their mattresses. You can also put these on any kind of solid platform or adjustable base. However you cannot use an old-school "box spring" (ie, one that actually has springs in it), because that will not provide adequate underlying support for this style of mattress.
I hope that's helpful.
@@goodbed well i was speaking about box springs made on wood just not solid all the way across

Here's a link with "lots of memory feel" already selected: www.goodbed.com/mattress-models/?memory-feel=3

MLily and Tempur are not the same. Tempur is way better
@@johnyang1420 We do think Tempur uses unique memory foams and is generally hard to match, yep.
What do you suggest for side sleepers with really bad lower back pain?
It really depends on what's causing the back pain. If your current mattress is worn out or unsupportive in general, then you might just need a new mattress. However, if you want extra support in your lower back, then you might want to look at mattresses with some amount of "zoning," or reinforced support in the middle third of the mattress. Serta's new models all have some amount of this, as does Tempur's LuxeAdapt collection. Many other online brands have hybrids with some amount of zoned support - some of these are included in the link below. Hope that helps!

I’m going to give it to my brother and looking at the Luxe Adapt Hybrid Medium or Luxe Breeze Hybrid Medium. Is the $1300 worth the cooling technology? Also is a medium Hybrid good for pain relief over a Firm Memory Foam? Thanks 🙏
No…..the cooling technology interferes with conforming. Luxe has cooling features too. Luxe Adapt is more conforming than Luxe Breeze.
Just wondering whats the version on market verses the version in Costco?
So this is a question we get sometimes and it's a little difficult to answer as we don't have accurate specs on the Costco models. That said, if we go by the diagrams on the Costco pages it appears that the memory foam layers have been reversed on their models. As such we have more confidence in recommending the more widely available Tempur line. Hope that helps!
I bought a adapt medium hybrid have had it for 3 weeks still experiencing lower back pain would it be worth it to upgrade to the pro or the luxe?
Go with the Luxe…..much better
Tempur-APR is also now just "Advanced Relief Material."
That said, we've not seen a significant decrease in quality or density on their memory foam relative to last generation.
