I've got another split hair dye tutorial for you but this time I'm dying my hair half and half: top and underneath.

Sophie Hannah Richardson oooh! what drugstore shampoo and conditioner do you find keeps your hair feeling soft and healthy? i like to use the one from my hairdressers but it's so expensive and the ones from drugstores either make my hair greasy or looking gross and dry x
use matrix shampoo ,it keeps hair straight ,it is affordable and keeps hair silky nd shiny.I love the results.if u need the link please tell me.nd it is suggested by my hairdresser too.its so good.try it once
I'm not sure why so many people say the best results come from clean hair?? It's actually pretty good to dye your hair unnatural colors when it's a couple days after you've washed it because the oils from your hair help the dye stick better.
Cloe R. Taylor because there's a difference between permanent hair dyes and semi permanent... And most of these color types aren't filled with the same type of harsh chemicals so it won't take to the hair strands if they're coated with oil and residue of hairspray etc. but with regular dyes you're absolutely right

Cloe R. Taylor that’s for regular permanent dyes. Not fashion colors. Fashion colors stain your hair vs getting absorbed by the hair. So yes, you want a clean base. Meaning shampooed and dry. No conditioner. Most if not all fashion “dyes” are very conditioning and can even be slept in.
(Cover it of course or everything your head touches will be covered in whatever color you chose)
@@mommasaurusk7644 Wrong weather it's fashion hair color or other color HAIR MUST BE CLEAN WITHOUT STYLING PRODUCTS AND DIRT OR OIL!!!!! And hair color cannot ever be slept in. And as far as conditioner goes YOU MUST USE CONDITIONER OR YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO COMB THROUGH IT WITHOUT IT!!!!!!!! I'm a licensed hairstylist so yea I do know what I'm talking about.
@@kiadavis6371 crazy colours can be slept in, they're actually conditioning for your hair and cause no damage whatsoever seeing as they wash out so quickly
How does your hair look so healthy..to say you dye it lots? Do you use any particular products to keep it healthy and in good condition?

The coloring does not damage unless you use developer in fact it is just pure pigment in most cases. It conditions your hair :). Bleach and developer are the damaging products not the color.
However i have no clue what is in colorista. I would never put that on my head.

While I absolutely love the idea, and your execution is pretty spot on, the coverage on this specific dye confirms why I don't use Colorista.

I used to have my hair half purple half blue in 2013, but the opposite way round to what yours is, with purple at the top and blue underneath. Makes me miss it so much! Also in relation to what you said about the colours merging: it doesn't matter. They won't merge because you aren't giving them time to set.

I know a few people are bashing you in the comments but honest to God, it's so hard to dye your own hair perfectly with no help. You can't see the back of your head and angling the mirror while you do it is hard af. I think you did a swell job, considering.
Plus you have awesome hair, it looks real healthy for someone who dyes it! :)
Love the colour and love how healthy your hair looked at the end! Just some advice though; next time you colour your hair make sure you take small sections so that you don't end up missing some hair. I can easily see some missed parts from the blue colour and thats most likely because you did bigger sections of hair, which allows the hair in between to "escape" and hide from the hair colour. You can also use foil strips to place on the bottom sections of hair in order to protect it from other colours. One other suggestion is to not pin up your coloured hair; using foils will allow all the hair to lay out evenly to oxidise properly. I took a few years of hair school so i know what I'm talking about. Best of luck to you!

that aqua is so patchy! except for that, the color combo and placement are fab, the the indigo ombre into your old color, just those blonde patches tho!

Ooooh my God, this is my first time trying to do a style of dyed hair, instead of straight. I was gonna go for just a simple ombre, and a single streak of another color. But now I'm going to try this with it!!!!! So panicked, I'mma mess it up BIG time, but also so super psyched!!! It's tutorial super inspired me, I can't wait!

Great video! I always wondered how I could prevent mixing of dyes. Foil is not in my DIY capability tool bag. The baggie method looks effective and easy.

I'm a hair stylist and have a cosmetology license and I enjoy changing my hair up like you do and I just purchased the colorista bleach and your indigo shade to try out ..I normally use pravana and my last shade in the pravana was green it's almost completely pretty faded so thought I'd try colorista..I love watching your videos not just for the hair colors and hacks but the makeup as well ..I look forward to seeing more colors you like to try and your process and how they turn out ...and

U always pick the best colours 4 ur hair and it turns out the best
an old headband or one that is easy to clean up works good for holding that bag in place (or hey a princess crown for former princess types would work). Thanks for the video, I usually have a friend do mine but she has been busy so figured I'd do my own and this helps with confidence at least. I usually do dark blue with bleached under which are the colours of child abuse awareness. I looked, blue and purple is arthritis and stroke awareness. Kinda fun when your colours actually have a reason. It's also not a bad idea to do the top first in case you goop and it falls, you can always bleach the bottom and dye it if you have sudden need of a fixed oops like that.

She used more than two tubes of it tho, it's crap dye then if you need so much and it's still not enough to get a decent job on short hair. I mean, it looked like it was all saturated.

Love the colors together. I know you said darker color on bottom. But my daughter wants the darker color on top. She going with a darker purple on top with a Aqua color underneath. We will be bleaching her hair today. But not coloring it till tomorrow. So when we color it do we do what you did by using a plastic bag to separate it.

Coconut oil is my bestfriend for everything, especially my hair lol. I use it for deep conditioning, and also put a tiny bit on my ends in the morning. and on my roots at night before bed.

RosieIsNosie56 Absolutely. Ones a week I mix coconut, argan and castor oil and massage it into my scalp and put into the length and ends of my hair. I leave it in at least three hours and wash it out. That part can be quite annoying since the castor oil is so thick, but l don't even need conditioner afterwards.

hi, I've got a question about the colorista hairdye. I want to use it myself but I want it to be permanent and not have to apply it every week or so. So how long does the color stay bright? How often do you have to use it to make it bright again? My hair is black and red but I keep struggling with the right color of red so I wanted to try it out since I've seen it in the shops but I've always been afraid to try it for this reason.

chrstina gardella Well, in order to buy certain color lines, (like Kenra, Matrix, Guy Tangs collabs, ect.) You must have a cosmetology permit. It is like a Sally's, but a store where only permitted professionals can go! That's probably why she is stuck on certain products. Although, I think she should try arctic fox!
Yeah I dyed my hair basically the same colors with arctic fox and it was so bright and stayed like that for almost a month

impressed with the white tees, Im doing this same style with iris and bright purple.same dark on the bottom for same reasons. My hair is layered a lot, Im sleeping with a strand test of the iris on top still have pale shades of green because it does not come out

I have never heard of loreal colourista might have to look into that as I have been using Schwartzkopf live colour or loreal feria to go purple but now I am going dark blue for a change

Really pretty hair
The L'Oreal Colourista stays from between 3 to 10 washes, depending on the colour you choose. They are semi permanent colours, so will eventually wash out.

That darker blue looked more purple to me when applied 😱. And the aqua looked more shark blue when applied at first😱.And the back turned more blotchy with blonde patches.
I got that dye in light pink and left it in for 2 hours and it didn't even dye my hair
