I always thought the original backseat freestyle was missing something. I didn’t think that the thing it was missing was the take on me instrumental but it turns out that’s exactly what it was.
I love this mashup because the vocals actually react to the instrumental, unlike with many mashups where the instrumental is just there while the vocals go on.
The best part is once his voice changes at the most aggressive and climatic part of the song the background instrumentals cut out and it is just beautiful (it happens at around 2:14)

I second the recommendation of Neil Cicierega. He's a master of the form. He's also hilarious, but that might be a negative to some people that are wanting something similar to Kendrick rapping over A-HA. But Neil's mashup of the Interstellar soundtrack and the YMCA is my favorite mashup of all time. It's called "T.I.M.E." and it is amazing.

Was listening to Take On Me and when the instrumental chorus came I found myself rapping Backstreet Freestyle's chorus. I say you've done a really good job of the mashup.
