Thank you for doing our city Fresno. I’ve lived here all my life yes we have high crime, but I would rather live here than Oakland, San Francisco, or other neighboring cities near us. We don’t have as many smash and grabs breaking back windows The big thing here was colitic converters theft, the only thing I don’t like about Fresno as most people don’t is our high heat. Anyway, I like your channel and thanks for doing our city. we’ve been made fun ln TV shows and movies for decades thinking we’re just a dirt farmer town well we’re not we feed the world our agriculture industry is something to be proud of ranked in the billions of dollars. Fresno isn’t that bad of a town cheers 😊

America, I believe is the most beautiful country in the whole world. From mountain ranges, to lakes, and deserts, the state parks and the canyons, wow everything is overwhelmingly beautiful. And yes, Fresno is not that bad. It's clean and beautiful. And oh I just love how you talk in this video, a voice that everyone wants to listen to even the kids will probably do. 😊

Moving out of Fresno was the best quality of life improvement I’ve ever experienced. I miss the natural beauty of California from time to time, but thankfully nature exists outside of it.
If you think Fresno is a nice place, you’ve either deluded yourself, or are incredibly unaware how dangerous it is.

I grew up in Fresno from 1945 to 1967. It was approximately 80,000 in population at the time. The Central Valley, also known as the San Joaquin Valley, is considered by many as the fruit and bread basket of the world. The large basin of the Valley collects a lot of smog from the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas plus it's own contribution. The last 20-30 years have seen an improvement of the air quality, but we are experiencing a huge influx of people from SF and LA as a result of the high cost of living. Fresno now has 546,000 people and Clovis next door has 125,000+. It is quickly becoming another Los Angeles with traffic problems, crime and other issues brought by population influx. It is a nice place to live, close to both the coast and mountains, but getting harder to get around. A town southeast of Fresno by the name of Selma used to be the Raisin Capital, but Fresno usurped it. Merced to the north west called itself the Gateway to Yosemite, but Fresno took that away, too, by naming the airport the Fresno Yosemite Airport. The air terminal is still called the Fresno Air Terminal (FAT) by the FAA. Yes, there are lots of homeless - we used to call them bums. Yes, there is trash and graffiti. Most of the poor live "south of the tracks," but there are lots of poor neighborhoods surrounding the immediate downtown. The reason you see clean streets downtown is that most of the city is now government offices (local, state and Federal) and the present mayor tries very hard to keep the area clean. People don't live there in large quantities. They commute from the northern suburbs. The downtown is largely Hispanic now. In the "old" days, there were a number of great, art deco theaters now somewhat run down: the Crest, Hardy's, White, Warnor's and Wilson. Cost of living is better than most places in California. The interesting homes you were looking at about 20 minutes in on the video are called Craftsmen homes - something developed by Sears and Roebuck. Very nicely designed and built. It does get hot in the summer - low 100's, but as we like to joke, "It's dry heat." North Fresno and Clovis are the places to go for shops, restaurants and services. All in all, Fresno is a good place to live, perhaps better than most areas of California. Unfortunately, people are finding us out and moving here. Thanks for your nice review. Many of us hope that Fresno keeps getting bashed to keep the population down, but we are obviously losing.

Born and raised in Visalia, approximately 45 minutes south of Fresno. @brookswilson1072 enjoy your comments on the area. I might add that the hot San Joaquin Valley summers have been part of the landscape for as long as I can remember; the explosive gas/electric bills that doubled for me in the past 3 years have been directly linked to the Biden administration.

    Hi there Joe and Nicole!
I agree with you about the old Fresno courthouse, but remember that Cali is earthquake country, which can affect the life expectancy of our architecture. If you are impressed with Fresno, you will be blown away by our beautful coastal cities, yes! Including Oakland. Be sure to visit the Crocker Highlands, Rockridge, Trestle Glen Road and Montclair districts to see beautiful neighborhoods,
Lake Merritt in the center of downtown, the thousands of acres of surrounding regional parks and the former Mills College now Northeastern. And of course the Oakland Hills and the Jack London Oak Tree downtown; Rockridge is one of the largest examples of pure Craftsman architecture also found in parts of Berkeley; the Oakland Museum of California is very special and check out the Estuary and Jack London Square; in spite of the crime numbers we have felt safe in our 47 years here with NO incidents and of course a Mediterranean climate that is the best in the country! Have fun!

US 99 was the only way through San Juaquin Valley when I was a child, we used to stop at the different fruit/vegetable stands along the road. My favorite stop was near Fresno for watermelon, they kept them floating in old concrete cattle troughs with blocks of ice. My Dad would buy one and they'd split it open for us, we'd sit on the fenders of our '49 Chevy and eat and spit seeds to hearts content. It's weird to be so old...we may have enjoyed the last of the best. I hope there's some watermelons left for the rest of you. 😁😁😎😎👍👍

I saw that on a TV show. A whole little world dug into the ground with open spaces that have orange trees growing up through them. Built to beat the Central Valley heat. California is Spanish for furnace. Spanish missionaries gave it that name when they travelled up the Imperial and Central valleys in the 1700s

Saw in the Fresno Bee, the Underground Gardens is reopening soon…quite a place. Lifelong resident of San Joaquin Valley; work downtown at the regional medical center for years. The mayor and city have been working hard on the homeless problem. Left the Denny’s you featured one morning, a couple of years ago…was parked near the entrance. Was followed to my car by a man hiding around the corner. I sped up, jumped in my car, locked the door, just as he tried to get in back door. He was jerking on the handle as I started the car and sped off! Pismo’s is a great restaurant! Great job, effort, and editing of your video of Fresno! Now a subscriber! Safe travels!

I see a lot more diversity than I used to in southeast Fresno. All cultures are celebrated here & welcomed. It’s not perfect, but it’s a place to call home. Good choice on Pismo’s! Thank you.. This city means a lot to me💕
In Fresno, I studied in 1998 at the University of California, which I hoped would be photographed and depicted because it is located on the largest Blackstone Street in Fresno.
Which has one of the best and most prestigious colleges of agriculture in the world.
There is also an upscale area to enjoy during the weekend . Edwards Theater
With its restaurants, cafes, cinema and shops...
My affection for Fresno and the memories of studying as my first city in America are still there...
Thank you Thank you for bringing back some good memories of Fresno

They think Fresno is nothing but cows and farm, when you talk about the Valley they think your talking about the valley there. I would tell them no, I’m talking about the real valley of Ca. If we are the arse of Ca they must love arse juice because we send our water down there. I’ve been to so many cities in US and every single city has their beautiful parts and decent parts. During the last century California had it all. Beauty, weather, jobs. Fantastically diverse geography, industries, culture and population. By far the most desired state to live in. Unfortunately that popularity caused 100 years of uncontrolled growth, all but ruining paradise by the turn of the century. Now everyone loves to bash her. I left in 1990 and glad I did but I still like to visit.
