    It's definitely not nuts. Living simple is so much better. Why do we need huge houses, it's just wasted space. I hope it turns out like you all want it to.

    I normally wouldn’t like living in an unfinished home but with the high cost of rent these days you can save up and do projects when you get the money saved to do them. Take that rent money and use it for supplies.

    • @HEYWANDERER
      @HEYWANDERER 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's absolutely right. We do not love living in the shed unfinished, but we aren't having to pay any rent and that is really what frees up more money. It's not ideal but it is what it is and we are making the most of it.

    Despite of beeing unfinished, the place is well organized and cozy, looks like you have all you need. Spending winter in that house without insolation must have been a challenge. All the difficulties you are facing gonna make you stronger at the end and all what you are missing right now will feel as a reward. I like the idea of your lifestyle. Some people choose to live in tiny houses, which is not always practical and comfortable, coz we all need to have some space. I definately would choose a small house like yours instead of tiny. When it is finished it is gonna be a totally different house. Looking forward to see your updates 😊Please do add your cookings to your viodeos from time to time. It is intresting how people orginize their food when living off grid..

    Just found you on IG, and came across to see your place. What a brilliant way for 2 friends who get along to save money and build a life! I'm sure you've made many changes since this video, but I love what you've done at this point to make it work. I'd think a pony wall in front of each bed with built-in storage would be a great solution - so just like a partial-wall, the height of a chest of drawers. In fact 2 chests of drawers could do the same thing. Wishing you ladies a wonderful life building your vision!

    My family and I are literally doing the same thing. We have a 12x20 cabin with a loft and planning on adding a second loft. We just got insulation put up on lower level but my daughter (who sleeps in loft) doesn’t want insulation in her loft because she said her room would get too hot. We’re also getting wood pallets for free and sanding and staining them cutting and hanging on walls. I love the set up you guys have!

    I just came up on your channel and have enjoyed watching your journey. I watch a lot of homesteaders in Portugal and a lot of them describe the reasons they purchased land and are living a more sustainable existence. Most talk about the fact that they hated working 24/7 to pay ridiculous rents and big mortgages and they grew tired of lto living in a concrete jungle. They love the fact now that they own their own land, live simple grow their own food and spend their time working with their hands with a slower pace of life. Yes, the work is demanding, but it’s physical and the reward is you see such a change in your land in the structures that you are building and designing with your own hands. They also discuss that they like knowing where their food is coming from, and that their animals are raised in a humane way. I love that your little house shows your capabilities and personalities. I love the kitchen cupboards are painted in the lovely blueish green with the copper handles and then the little red checked curtain covering one of the storage areas, so unique yet cosy too! I live here in Canada in a 200 year old Log Home. It has so much character and I love the logs that must have come from the virgin forest her and we’re hand hewn. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Best of luck in your endeavours.

    Maybe a comprimise on the wall. I don't know how wide this is, so Maybe build two 3' or 4' sections from the outer walls and frame the middle as a large door, and find accordian type closet doors that would be open most of the time and closed when needed, or pocket doors, since your building from scratch, from each side. Might get you both what you want. Lots of work but very rewarding!

    Oh. My. Goodness! I am so excited to have found you! I, too, am going on this adventure that you are on, only I am by myself and am working with only 2 acres of raw land, which is just about all I can handle on my own. So I have a freakin' TON of questions for you! But I subscribed and will try to find the answers in your other videos before I start shooting them off to you! I am glad to see you living in an unfinished shed, because that is what I am figuring I will have to do and work on it while I am living there. People think I am crazy as well, but sometimes, you just have to do what you have to do to get where you want to be! Like I said, I am SO EXCITED to have found you, because I can see what is ahead and use your solutions as well. I was going with a Bluetti instead of a Jackery, so 1st question is why did you choose the Jackery? Is there something I should know? I look forward to catching up with all your other videos! Thanks SO much for sharing!

      We are happy to have you! I would say-if you can avoid it at all- try not to live in your shed while you are working on it. It makes everything 10X slower and harder. It's doable but I wouldn't recommend it. We have the Jackery b/c they sent us one a while ago. It's definitely not our only power source as we mostly use generator and the Jackery keeps things powered at night. Best wishes to you!

    About the orange armchair, to save you the expense and time recovering it, you can easily change the colour. Just clean it well first, vacuum then wash arms or any areas with shampoo or dish wash if grubby/greasy. Blot with towel till just damp. Dampen with spray bottle if not dirty. Paint with watered down acrylic paint,start at back first. Start with half paint to half water, it will depend on the fabric texture/weave, original colour and paint colour. A very flat, close weave would end up looking like leather, nice in black or brown. The paint must be diluted or it will dry hard and shiny. Several coats will be required. In the future you can still remove the fabric and recover if wanted. It’s a very cheap fix up. Check out Furniture Flipping Teacher, she does velvet chairs for profit.
