    Hello, I’m removing my braces myself because I can’t afford to pay for the orthodontist to remove them, my gums are swelling and I haven’t had treatment for 3 years now. After I remove them I want the glue gone so I’m going to my college to do a cleaning, because they do free cleanings and it’s a dental school. Can a dental hygienist remove and clean all the glue and do they have the tools to do so?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YIKES!!! I really can't support that but to answer your question, its really depends on the laws in your state or country and the dental practice act. Some hygienists can remove SUPRA GINGIVAL (above the gumline) composite like this, some can't. It would be illegal in some states and legal in others. You'd have to ask

    My orthodontist removed my braces but put this permanent retainer on the back of my teeth, it's just a wire. The wire broke and I just used pliers to pull it out but now I'm wondering if it's glue or cement I feel on back of teeth. I ask because if its glue I hear 12% peroxide + baking soda can remove it through brushing with it but if it's cement then I should go to my orthodontist.
    From your experience, do you know what they use for retainers vs braces? I assume it was a retainer since it only covered 6 teeth
    If it's glue, do you agree the peroxide & baking soda would remove it and I can do it at home?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Had these brackets on since age 13 when I had braces removed, doc said it last 50 yrs but they broke loose from accidentally biting into bone of ribs few months ago. I wonder if my teeth will separate eventually, not sure if given almost 30 years of wear, if teeth will remain straight. Yeah that was a question I always wondered, how long they have to remain, maybe it's different for everyone.
