The thing I hate about these videos is that the title says: How much did VW charge for my Golf R service... the thing I want to know is how much did VW charge for your Golf R service and not about S class and not about E class and bullshit... man 22 min video on thing that you could solve in 22 seconds including intro and outro

The noise is from the SBC pump which is part of the ABS system. It was only in the first generation of the W211 models. The face lifted model had a different system without this pump as people didn't like the pump intrusion
That sound is the SBC pump pressurizing. These cars don't have brake servo's to multiply brake pressure they have pump's that generate immense modulated pressure so your brakes work and work well.

Vindis Bedford are actually really good, I took my Dads Golf TDI for a cambelt/waterpump and they were cheaper than 3 local specialists . they paid for my taxi home after dropping the car off, paid for the taxi to collect me when it was done, the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful! In case anybody asks I'm not employed by them lol....
I charge around £285 with genuine parts at my garage ,am I close on price ?
It was 2 years ago and can't remember what I paid but that sounds like a good price to me, whats the name of your garage ? As I'll make a note of it if I need anything doing in the future.
I’ve found that too. People write off main dealerships too quickly without taking a further look. Also, and most won’t care about this, but it’s nice going somewhere clean and have nice polite staff who look after you. Having a video of your car being serviced and the tech explaining what’s needed and what’s done is awesome too.

That noise on an ML is the 2nd coolant pump - the bearings wear out - easy change - I think the engines are the same - mine did that noise as well - top video bro !!
I don't mind on fact I really like these slightly/older vehicles only worry I have is if the profit margins on these vehicles are any good :)
Years ago I had a k reg Renault 19 16v, and it used to make exactly the same noise as your merc estate and in the same way, it was the ABS pump just doing its thing.

Top tip fill your washer bottle before the car goes for its service. But VW still try to bill you for this, complain to service reception that what else are you being ripped off for.
Main dealer do rip you I think they charge around 112 pound a hour. I needed pads and disc changing that I already had and they wanted 340pound and I needed a MOT too so the best part of 400 pound. I then found a place at Mansfield call R&M vw specialist and they fitted my pads and discs with a MOT for 184. The guy there was amazing and so friendly with so much knowledge. It is nice to have the main dearer stamp but you definitely pay for it,nice video mate and I spend more time watching them then driving my R 👌

How do you insure yourself on every car you drive? Is it temp insurance or does ur insurance company let you drive any car?

Doesn't a car default to Radio 2 when you factory reset it? Everytime I have done mine, when it comes back on, it's comes onto R2 straight away.
Haven’t read all the comments but the noise in the E class is the SBC pump, as I’ve got a 270 CDI for last 11 years. It’s supposed to do that as it’s electronic breaking :)

Pre facelift E’s have what’s called SBC braking system. It’s really complicated and known for going wrong. I have an old E500 it does the same vibration, very normal for these cars, nothing to worry about.....until it breaks. 😉

That humming sound from merc is the Sbc system (Sensotronic brake control). It’s telling u it’s working.

How can the radio need a software update to work properly? Surely it's a standalone unit that just picks up a radio signal and sends sound to the speakers. How could it suddenly not be working properly?

That "noise" you're referring to is the SBC breaking system, and its completely normal to hear it when you start it and drive around normally nothing is wrong with it. Its basically an electronically controlled hydraulic pump breaking system just google mercedes SBC if you want to know more about it.

You say the DSG is great? But how long do they last like in mileage before they breakdown and there's the six speed wet clutch and the 7 speed dry clutch which do you recommend?

Does the steering wheel sit to the left of the drivers seat in the S-Class Calvin?
Used a merc C-Class for a few days and that wheel offset was so obvious it drove me nuts..
AJ all Mercedes have this problem from what I hear. Go with bmw or Audi, they don’t cut corners

A £200 pound service at VW is known as a minor service , they literally change the oil and thats it , such a rip off a full service is around £400

That noise will be the SBC pump (mine was changed 2 years ago), my E270 does it all the time - funnily enough I’m just running it until we move house and I can buy myself a Golf R Estate 😉

Hello in your experience how big a difference does a car with 2 owners compared to 1 affect resale
Jake Hammond depends on the car. Like if it was a 20 year old M3, 1 owner would be a huge factor but a 2 year old M3, wouldn’t matter at all. And pretty much all run-of-mill cars the same applies. I’ve never had a buyer not buy a car because it’s got 2 owners instead of 1. If anything a high amount of owners can sometimes be more of an issue.

Mechanics cant fix ECU lol, they needed an auto electrician the qualified one. Once we had an Astra same reg as urs and we replaced an ECU for customer, happy days.

How did you manage to get it so cheap? I rang up vw the other day about a oil service and inspection and they said will be in the region of 350 to 400??? Yet yours was only 200?
For my S3 it was £240 for a full service from Audi. You are definitely getting charged too much.
