I remember when I found my first comic book hidden in the bushes down a side alley, it was all crinkled and a bit soggy. I remember flicking through it and being amazed at what I was seeing! I became obsessed with comic books from that moment...
Uncle E, the comic book industry is booming. Now that superhero movies are popular, more and more people are reading comic books. Every time I go to my local store, I see at least 50 other people there at any time
uncle e, you have no idea how perfectly timed these videos where. It was my birthday so these videos where like a gift, for you see I'm a comic collector myself, and I also found the morning wood video very funny, so, thank you
I've only read comic books when I was in the hospital because I don't really have money but another patient had a bunch of comics and I always wore marvel clothes (I like the movies and I read about it online) so he lent me some. My favorite of the ones I've read was Old Man Logan
Thank you so much for making this uncle E. after watching this i went on ebay and bought 2 dozen or so comics and began my collection. You are my 8th grade new kid!
I love the comic book videos you do. I’m rewatching them right now cuz I’m going to the comic book store later and want recommendations on what to pick up
If I could recommend one series from Image that you may or may not have heard of, it's Saga! It's a space opera that covers themes of family, war, sex, drugs and love while featuring a range of bizarre and beautiful creatures, landscapes and ideas. It's fairly graphic too. I love it.
What mic setup do you use? The sounds are so soft and warm, they sound great! Like when you folded the sleeve in and said it might have been too loud, I found it really relaxing because of the softness of the sound. Most other mics it would be too loud and harsh.
Alan Moore's Swamp Thing will always be one of my favorite comic book runs. Grant Morrison's JLA and Doom Patrol runs are also some of my favorites. A good comic that's also more recent that I recommend is House of Penance.
would recommend Osama Tezuka works and Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo. yes, it's manga but the flashy insanity that characterizes much (not all) manga today is removed. this is what I think makes most people dislike manga anyway. so, good story telling and with your time.
If you want to pick up some comic books here is some i would recommend getting into: Preacher and the punisher (both by garth ennis), the sandman by neil Gaiman, old man logan (since you said you found wolverine a bit bland, or something along those lines, i think you might enjoy that one), providence by alan moore, saga and the manhattan projects. Of course there are many other comics to recommend but judging from your channel i think you might like those.
Had to quit loooong ago for same reason as E.R. - $ and time. Loved titles from DC's Vertigo imprint - Sandman, Doom Patrol, Preacher, Hellblazer, Animal Man. A cousin gave me a huge stash of comics from the 1960s, love artists Jack Kirby & Steve Ditko from back then. Kirby on Fantastic Four, Thor, Captain America. Ditko on Dr. Strange, SpiderMan. Also Hulk, Sub-Mariner, many more. Would be interested in update on the comic scene in general. Great video & talk, thanks.
Uncle E Thank you soo much for making this video! I actually first subscribed to your channel and got interested in ASMR from your original comic recommendation video. I will actually be starting my own channel where I focus on comics and ASMR called The Comicbook Asmrtist. I am also an aspiring comicbook maker. My regular pull list includes Batman, Detective Comics, All Star Batman, Nightwing, Batwoman, Teen Titans, Supersons, Superman, Action Comics, Captain America, Spawn, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Rockstars. I highly recommend Superman. I actually started picking it up because of the creative team of Tomasi and Gleason. They did the Batman & Robin book before. I like this book alot because it focuses on Superman and his son's dynamic like they did with Batman and his son. I like the Action Comics book because there has been several mysteries involved in it. I also recommend the Ninja Turtles just because it has been a solid series so far. I also like Rockstars because it's about conspiracy theories in music. Snyder is currently working on All Star Batman, by the way. Thanks!
Hello Ephemeral Rift. Fans of comic book art who remember The Swamp Thing may have heard that talented artist Bernie Wrightson just recently passed away. Here to help take the edge off. Thanks.
Right now i'm really into some of the DC Rebirth series. Red Hood and the outlaws, Super Sons, The Flash, and The Titans. This era is so amazing! Give it a read!
I agree with you on the whole Wolverine in the sense that he usually faces whoever his team is facing, but he does have his own villains, for example, sabertooth and lady deathstrike are some of his own more prominent villains, but it doesn't he doesn't have very many. Also, if you want to start collecting comics again, they are making a new series coming out in april called Weapon X, which features Old man Logan, Sabertooth, Lady deathstrike, X-23, Deadpool, and Warpath if I'm not mistaken
I only bought graphic novels between 07-09, I like them, but didn't have the time or money for another hobby and still don't I have too many passions as it is. Favorite comic ever though is 100 Bullets, essential reading for all fans of smart writing and detective noir fiction.
ER, you really need to see Logan. It is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time and it completely revolutionizes the superhero movie genre. SO much emotion and action packed into one movie. It gives so much depth to Wolverine and Professor X and is some of Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart's best acting.
Hey Rift, I'd recommend picking up or ordering Saga and/ or Monstress they're by far the best comics I have read so far and the world building, story and characters in all three are phenomenal!
Don't know if you'd read this, but I highly recommend IDW Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye comics. So far its my all time favorite, they have interesting characters and good development, and the story/plot is quite unique than the other transformers series. Again, I highly recommend it. Love your vids Uncle E 😁
I'm not really a comic book fan but if you are interested in trying some graphic novels I definitely recommend picking up The Crow by James O' Barr or V For Vendetta by Alan Moore. They're both short reads and they're a great place to start for beginners.
It's about time, man! I'm mainly a DC fan. I'm all about the Bat-Family. Detective is really good so is Redhood and the outlaws. Tom Kings Batman is ok...I'm just not digging Bats voice. SuperSons is solid, mostly due to Damian Wayne. My favorite image book is Rick Remnder's Deadly Class. It's just incredible.
You should definitely go see Logan, it's one of the best movies I've seen in a while. It does an absolutely amazing job mixing action with deep storytelling and I would 100% recommend it.
This is exciting- the first videos of yours I watched were comic book related! If you wanted to pick up a title that is wacky and fun I'd look into Gerard Way's current run of Doom Patrol, it's part of a new DC imprint called Young Animal. It's only 5 issues in, so it shouldn't damage the wallet too much.
Hey rift, I know you say you don't have time to read comics, but why don't you make some weekly reading comics videos . Then you can incorporate both passions and not use up any extra time. Great video :)
If you want to buy single issues buy the annual books. You can't really just buy random issues, as comics have long running stories with multiple arcs. Buying graphic novels is good for getting a whole arc. Most comic shops will sell full arcs in issue form as well.
The industry is doing pretty well currently. DC rebirth is booming and going steady. Marvel is doing okay with the new Secret Empire event coming up. And Valiant is going pretty good with their new digital series coming out soon.
I have a tendency to buy my comics once the release in volumes , I don't have the time to collect the individual issues , I'll pick them up here and there to add to me collection but I just don't have the time. I do however have a growing collection of all things harley quinn , I collect figurines and props and really anything I can get my hands on that is harley quinn related .
I mainly collect manga, but I've got a side collection of dark Crystal comics. I have the marvel adaptation of the film, the tokyopop manga prequel series, and a digital copy of the power of the dark Crystal #1. (I also have several children's books revolving around that movie from both the 80's and more recently) as for manga I have the full collection of the kodansha release of Sailor Moon, the full No. 6 manga collection (also kodansha), the omnibus edition of Uzumaki, an older one shot manga called "call me princess" which I read from the library as a kid. incomplete I have "Kamichama Karin", "fruits basket", "paradise kiss", and "3x3 eyes". I have Cardcaptor Sakura omnibus #1 in the mail, as well as a few fruits basket volumes. I also have several Simpsons comics and Avatar: The last Airbender "the promise".
it's older, I didn't hear the part about "new comics you can go pick up easily" till after I typed that. But maybe you can read them online. There's only 7 main issues. Plus a smaller side character series called Squee, and a couple other related comics. But the main 7 are great! (they reprint a graphic novel of them once in a while)
I wasn't really into comics as a kid/teen, but Im so hooked on the Supergirl television show that I'm buying the rebirth series and being super (male in my late 30s)
The comic industry is doing so so. Not as good as they use to be, comics I use to buy as a kid are now about $15 to $20. A good title right now is Hulk World War. Some Im currently collecting is Marval vs DC. came out a few years ago and think theres only 10 comics to that.
love this video, would like to see some more comic related stuff. the industry seems pretty strong right now, though marvel is sort of hurting at the moment, DC and Image are going strong. would recommend a bunch of stuff from Image; Lazarus, Kill or be Killed, Descender (anything by Jeff Lemire), Saga, Outcast, Paper Girls. There are so many really, they're worth a look, probably at least one you'll like.
I'm new to comic book collecting but I've gathered all the Harley Quinn comics I can get the title off. still need new 52 volume 6 ( and the new suicide squad as of august 2016) but will have it as soon as financialy viable 😍
Well, Dc-Rebirth is pretty big right now. If you wont have time to read all the single issues that get thrown out there, maybe the tpb are for you? first volumes of Rebirth got released a month ago or something.
the question was a fantastic hero to read into! also if you find yourself contemplating on anime or manga let us know your thoughts or experiences with that! id be interested atleast, that stuff can be fun!
I remember when I found my first comic book hidden in the bushes down a side alley, it was all crinkled and a bit soggy. I remember flicking through it and being amazed at what I was seeing! I became obsessed with comic books from that moment...
first I got to watch you play with your wood now I get to watch you use protection like a responsible adult.
The Real EmmyJ LOLOLL
The Real EmmyJ holy hell that was funny.
"Long overdue"? I'd say that's an understatement. That first bagging & boarding vid was the very first vid of yours that I watched!
StraightOuttaAUburn haha, thanks for still being here!
Uncle E, the comic book industry is booming. Now that superhero movies are popular, more and more people are reading comic books. Every time I go to my local store, I see at least 50 other people there at any time
Im still in the morning wood
Gnome your channel name and picture is an old and dead meme, change it
Anton Kottorp I don't like the way your last name is spelled, change it.
Deadleech I don't like how you're breathing oxygen, change it
+Jacob Gomez I don't like how you exist, change it.
Yassssss! I'm so happy to see you doing comic book videos again! Love it! I especially love your D.C. COMICS related ones.
uncle e, you have no idea how perfectly timed these videos where. It was my birthday so these videos where like a gift, for you see I'm a comic collector myself, and I also found the morning wood video very funny, so, thank you
pendomic A happy birthday
Still watch your old comic book roleplay from years ago. Like 2012. Cool to see more of this again.
Qzarz Thank you
Are we gonna acknowledge the whole morning wood thing or what?
I wood if i could.
DManVI. The puns...
That title was a bit of a cock up I suppose...
Gavin Faircloth I'm not sure
he must've been high when he made that
You uploaded 2 videos in a row on a single day? What is this? Christmas?
ChristmASMR
doesn't really count since his first video was 4 minutes long.
No, it's just his morning wood
Hamburger should I say 4 inches long. badum tss
I've only read comic books when I was in the hospital because I don't really have money but another patient had a bunch of comics and I always wore marvel clothes (I like the movies and I read about it online) so he lent me some. My favorite of the ones I've read was Old Man Logan
+TheOddKitten Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan was... interesting.
Yes! Comic books return to the channel once more. The thing that got me started on this weirdly awesome channel!
Faintest Of Breath haha thanks for still being here!
Thank you so much for making this uncle E. after watching this i went on ebay and bought 2 dozen or so comics and began my collection. You are my 8th grade new kid!
Been collecting comics for the better part of a year now, I love the artwork and appreciate a good story. Great video, well done
I wish I could collect hard copies of comics. I have a buncha PDF versions and all that, but it's so much better to feel it in your hand
I really miss the beer reviews. They were my absolute favorite. Would it be possible to just do some form of a beverage review?
Jason Givens I Support this idea
He can do sodas or other non-alcoholic beverages.
Yes, back in January I believe.
I'll see what I can do
where is the club penguin magazine?
I love the comic book videos you do. I’m rewatching them right now cuz I’m going to the comic book store later and want recommendations on what to pick up

Austin Skywalker that last issue though 😢😢😭😭
Austin Skywalker Think I've seen a couple other folks recommend Saga so adding it to my list.

zaephod beeblebrox Thanks!
You are my favorite ASMR Channel, so dedicated and such good quality content keep it up man.
Had to quit loooong ago for same reason as E.R. - $ and time. Loved titles from DC's Vertigo imprint - Sandman, Doom Patrol, Preacher, Hellblazer, Animal Man. I liked the Calvin and Hobbes comics and I still read them over and over again
Rcbees 2001 same.
The Walking dead comic books are some of the best I have ever read. The artwork and flow is beautiful, much better than the show.
Uncle E Thank you soo much for making this video! I actually first subscribed to your channel and got interested in ASMR from your original comic recommendation video. Nice! I've been wanting to get into comics so I will check your stuff out :)
the comicbook asmrtist Thanks and best of luck to you
Ephemeral Rift Thanks! That means a lot to me! You've just made my night.
I love your channel man. You deserve to have One Million subscribers, I wish you did.
Hello Ephemeral Rift. Fans of comic book art who remember The Swamp Thing may have heard that talented artist Bernie Wrightson just recently passed away. Here to help take the edge off. Thanks.
GreatestPotential Oh no, I hadn't heard this. Bernie was fantastic. Damn... :-(
GreatestPotential I don't recall him but RIP.
EphemeralRift He was a reserved man, quiet, who often spent many late night hours at Miskatonic University Library to do research.
What was Swamp Thing? I got a Wonder Woman comic today at a comic con, and there was an ad for it halfway through
Right now i'm really into some of the DC Rebirth series. Red Hood and the outlaws, Super Sons, The Flash, and The Titans. This era is so amazing! Give it a read!

God. I've had this as my go to for 4 months now
Streets Need a new bagging and boarding vid
Huge comic fan currently reading any new 52, and just got into the old man Logan real good stuff. One of my all time favorites? Old school WildC.A.T.s
ER, you really need to see Logan. It is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time and it completely revolutionizes the superhero movie genre. SO much emotion and action packed into one movie. ER really has some nice humor..
that happiness ad captivated me😀😀
Scott Snyder is writing a new Batman book called All Star Bstman. He's got some heavyweights doing the art on it as well-Jock, Francavilla etc..
Johnny DaCostaDComics Sounds interesting. May have to keep my eye out for that
OMG thought I was the only one that read the Chew series. Awesome colllection ER!!
CV Jones Nice to hear from another Chew fan!
I know it doesn't really count, but I read a lot of manga. Currently waiting for the new chapter of Berserk to be released.
Fate Wrecks (weeb)
Oscar 8 yep
Hey Rift, I'd recommend picking up or ordering Saga and/ or Monstress they're by far the best comics I have read so far and the world building, story and characters in all three are phenomenal!
Edward Caplen Alright, I'll add em to my list !
Wow ER!! Two videos in one day! You must be off work today.... Love the Batman T-shirt!! I have one just like it.
Currently reading Kevin smiths run of green arrow. what about you guys???
Would love another one of these
Two videos in one day?!?! Awesome.
*Very Nice!! Enjoyed!*
I'm not really a comic book fan but if you are interested in trying some graphic novels I definitely recommend picking up The Crow by James O' Barr or V For Vendetta by Alan Moore. They're both short reads and they're a great place to start for beginners.
Paisley Painfree Thank you!
No problem. Happy to help anytime.
I've started reading The new runs on Wildstorm and Man-Thing.
Just made a huge purchase and had to bag and board 330 of these bad boys.
You have ruined asmr for me! I can only watch you now, you're too good!!
liizzzieify yes same here I forgot about him
I highly suggest picking 1 or 2 titles and pick those up monthly instead of buying random issues. Following the stories is fun.
wow you're spoiling us w/ all these videos
Personal favorite of mine was Spawn. I used to read the everloving hell outta them whenever I was too sick to go to school.
You should definitely go see Logan, it's one of the best movies I've seen in a while. It does an absolutely amazing job mixing action with deep storytelling and I would 100% recommend it.
Thanks so much for making this!
I do still read comics, I only have a few now. They are expensive here. I have Elektra, the Avengers, Batman, Redhood and my favourite HellBlazer.
Logan, and Get Out were great. I'm seeing Life soon. Rumor has it that it's a venom tie in.
DC is killing it.
I am an artist and I've been struggling. Thanks, I really needed to hear that :).
I love the way he says "title"
Hey rift, I know you say you don't have time to read comics, but why don't you make some weekly reading comics videos . Then you can incorporate both passions and not use up any extra time. Great video :)
Raffaele Chiuchiolo I don't know about weekly but I'm going to see how to make these more often.
Just watched Logan today well yesterday it's 2:22am in Cali now. It was good 👌🏼. Enjoyed your video, wish it was more crinkly though
I buy deadpool and batman rebirth monthly as they come out, and collect graphic novels as well as random single issues.
Nice style you've got there, hair and beard fits together pretty well :)
If you want to buy single issues buy the annual books. You can't really just buy random issues, as comics have long running stories with multiple arcs. Buying graphic novels is good for getting a whole arc. Most comic shops will sell full arcs in issue form as well.
needscreen Yeah, I do this with The Walking Dead and have picked up tpb's of Hellboy. May need to check out a new title this way.
The industry is doing pretty well currently. DC rebirth is booming and going steady. Marvel is doing okay with the new Secret Empire event coming up. And Valiant is going pretty good with their new digital series coming out soon.
DC recently had a reboot, so I would recommend looking into one of those series. I'm reading Teen Titans and All-Star Batman.
Check out Valiant comics! Very good stuff
darfmaj michael valiant?
darfmaj i have 2 of those, they are cool
I mainly collect manga, but I've got a side collection of dark Crystal comics. I have the marvel adaptation of the film, the tokyopop manga prequel series, and a digital copy of the power of the dark Crystal #1. (I also have several children's books revolving around that movie from both the 80's and more recently)
as for manga I have the full collection of the kodansha release of Sailor Moon, the full No.

OVjanelle That all sounds great ! And I loved the dark crystal movie when it came out !
johnny the homicidal maniac is a great comic
INVISIGOTH I need to check that out.
it's older, I didn't hear the part about "new comics you can go pick up easily" till after I typed that. But maybe you can read them online. There's only 7 main issues. Plus a smaller side character series called Squee, and a couple other related comics. But the main 7 are great! (they reprint a graphic novel of them once in a while)
When I was a kid I would get any kind of Ninja comic I could find...back in the early 90s...have a lot of X-Men comics too
I wasn't really into comics as a kid/teen, but Im so hooked on the Supergirl television show that I'm buying the rebirth series and being super (male in my late 30s)
Are you just trying to collect all kinds of comic books or some rare ones?
oh wow early on this. good work rift!
The comic industry is doing so so. Not as good as they use to be, comics I use to buy as a kid are now about $15 to $20. A good title right now is Hulk World War. Some Im currently collecting is Marval vs DC. came out a few years ago and think theres only 10 comics to that.
Comivs I'm reading at the moment..Saga, Stray Bullets and the absolute best thing out there at the moment; Kill or be Killed by Phillips and Brubaker.
Imy Johnson I may have to check those out, thanks !
I had another idea for a character you could do, sleep racer, I know cheesy but an idea
I'd say do a beer and a comic review video but that is just inviting spills
With love, fold the corners in first my brotha
Also 26:15, while neither way is ideal I do like colorist. I say stick with it for the kicks
Can anybody tell me ER's real name I feel like it's Paul but not sure.
MegaSteven011 yep
MegaSteven011 yeah it's Paul
love this video, would like to see some more comic related stuff. the industry seems pretty strong right now, though marvel is sort of hurting at the moment, DC and Image are going strong.
would recommend a bunch of stuff from Image; Lazarus, Kill or be Killed, Descender (anything by Jeff Lemire), Saga, Outcast, Paper Girls. There are so many really, they're worth a look, probably at least one you'll like.
fated2see Thanks !
38:53 Killer Croc? That's the Batman villain.
I'm new to comic book collecting but I've gathered all the Harley Quinn comics I can get the title off. still need new 52 volume 6 ( and the new suicide squad as of august 2016) but will have it as soon as financialy viable 😍
What about manga? Due you collect or even just read any?
Well, Dc-Rebirth is pretty big right now. If you wont have time to read all the single issues that get thrown out there, maybe the tpb are for you? first volumes of Rebirth got released a month ago or something.
oh yea and ive seen logan. its very... brutal, uncompromised, gory, tragic, sad... but also just very very good. imo
MutenRoscher Yeah the tpb may be the way to go. I'll look into rebirth, thanks!
I'm reading some marvel right now. Highly recommend Venom and The Unworthy Thor
Taylor West Thanks! The "unworthy" Thor? Sounds interesting
Spidey rules!💪
I'm currently reading Black Science, Saga, Paper Girls and Monstress
ataridc Another person to suggest Monstress. I need to look into that
the question was a fantastic hero to read into! also if you find yourself contemplating on anime or manga let us know your thoughts or experiences with that! id be interested atleast, that stuff can be fun!
I enjoy Marvel and dc, mainly the comics, ranging from spiderman, superman, hulk, and some dark horse comics too, like star wars.
You should make a asmr about the music artists you like
DEF GAMING I actually plan on it!
One more thing ER.... You MUST see the movie Get Out. It's AWESOME!!
hojofan I did and you are right !
you have to read Scott Sydners New 52 Batman!!!
you gotta watch Logan. it's the best wolverine movie by far. get out was really good as well
jordan_legacy 2314 Just saw Get Out recently was incredible.
Ephemeral Rift the ending was crazy
My other channel is jaketheartist, by the way.
