The car could have been driven 2,000 miles at the drag strip, a 1/4 mile at a time. Just because the car has low milage doesn't mean it wasn't abused. I hope the car straightens out.

That is why you get a mechanic to check out a used car especially sports car. The number one rule is to never buy a used American muscle car.

A low mileage sports car is a red flag. Car fax is a must. There is a simple test.Start the car, put it in drive, apply the brake , and watch the tachometer. If it twitches (jumps) there are engine problems.

I came across this vid kind of late, but if you have this issue, have someone tap in with a manual pressure guage to confirm what the actual pressure is. Your dash guage is registering we but can't tell what the psi is. We need to determine what the oil PSI is supposed to be at a given temp and RPM for that engine and make sure it is doing it. A manual pressure guage will reveal any fluctuations in pressure which would indicate a pump going out or losing prime.Definitely worth it before pulling the engine and tearing into it.

I know this may sound like a dumb suggestion but I had the same issue with the reduced engine power message, so I disconnected the battery cable and it reset itself with no issues.

Dam this is scary, I have a 17 myself 29000 miles, it's been bullet proof so far, hope you get those issues fixed it's a beautiful car to own.

It’s supposedly a common issue for cars produced in late 2017 and early 2018. Check your build date on the car . If you’re at 29k w no issues sounds like you should be fine. Can’t wait to get mine back bro it’s been almost 2 months 😩

Probably something minor now that the oil pump has been replaced. I see that you are at 40psi at idle now since its been replaced so just see what the dealer says. I love my ZL1 and haven't had the oil pump issue because I have a TSP 427 engine in it but you never know. The biggest issue I had with mine is it dropped a valve on the stock heads because of the heat. Car was making 860whp and didn't like that. So had the engine rebuilt and aftermarket heads put on with titanium intake valves and inconnel exhaust valves. So far so good! Only other thing that happened was it melted the fuse for my interchiller. Replaced the fuse and its been solids since. These cars are so much fun to drive!

I had both a ‘17 SS and a’17 ZL1 and they were both bulletproof. The only issue I ever had was the battery went dead on the ZL1 when I had it parked for the winter.

My oil pump went on my '18 ZLE 17k miles a few weeks ago, the day before going in the shop for some already scheduled upgrades that now turned into stock blower max effort build, I should have it back in 4-6 weeks and I can't wait! Your car is a great color and super clean, I would go the same rout I did and enjoy the hell out of it.

They didn’t set the timing right when they replaced the oil pump. Don’t drive it until it’s fixed.

My ZL1 1LE went 70,000 before it failed. After replacement with OEM from Scoggins, that only lasted 400 miles, I went with the Katech. Where the F#@k is the recall on these?

Had the same problem with my 2018 ZL1 at 33,000 miles. Towed the car back home. Had to replace the entire engine. Metal shavings in the oil pan. Engine cost me $15,000 to replace. No warranty because the car was 4 years old. GM would not pay for anything. I never abused the car. I will never buy another Chevy.

I had a 2018 zl1 with 46k miles. Had some crazy electrical issues that could never be fixed. Its for sale on cargurus for 55.5k don't buy that shit people lol now I have a stock 2019 ss 1le, cars are expensive asf now and I miss the zl1

Cars piss me off. 18 year Olds maxing out credit cards will dog the literal piss out of their car for 60k miles on 4 oil changes. But I've had 1 2 mustang gt motors blow up, and a 2018 zl1 cursed with electrical issues that never got solved. Thought about setting the fucking thing on fire. Dealer had it for 3 weeks and couldn't do shit. Sold it and now have a stock 19 ss 1le.

That sucks bro, my oil pressure is where it should be, but my major FU from Chevy is the supercharger, the stock 1.7l for the '17 ZL1 springs a leak and the intercooler leaks every bit of the intercooler coolant so there's no air being fed into the motor and the loss of power. Chevy has a svc bulletin for this exact problem and to say the dealer svc techs are incompetent is an insult to incompetent people. The LT4 in '17 was the very top of the food chain and they couldn't even guess how many quarts of oil the LT4 takes when oil changed with the filter. They didn't even know that the supercharger has its own cooling circuit.

Wow I'm just shaking my head with the hell I been thru with my 2017 ZL1 it sucks big dawgs cuz I love it so much
    2 injectors to begin
    Then oil pump
    Then engine
New engine uses more oil then the original they replaced
Gone thru 19 qts first 7000 miles
Now being told that 1 to 2 qts every 250 to 300 miles is normal and they replaced a better running engine for less usage pulling my hair out hate not being listened too cuz I'm a female like I don't know my own car

🤷🏽‍♂️Ain’t no telling. Either way it’s a super common problem and the last owner literally put maybe 6k miles on it so can’t really blame him . Gotta blame Chevrolets poor quality control on these yr cars

@@ALPHACARGUY True. Chevy is prolly the true culprit. My '19 2SS just recently had problem with an exhaust valve being stuck open. Had to take it to a chevy dealer. It was still under warranty so I got it fixed for free. Looks like the 16-19 camaros had a number of issues.

If you dog a car out, it will not last long. If you want to race, I suggest you go to racing school, get trained, obtain your profession racing license and drive with the pros on a race track and not the street.
