I Have a Bunn VP17-3 in my home and I love it! I can find any part and seals needed to fix this thing without ease and they are really affordable considering the longevity of these coffee machines. I deep clean with a citric acid powder and distilled water solution once every 3 months along with the spring tool. Works beautifully. In between I use white vinegar and distilled water 50/50 solution with spray head off and let the vinegar solution sit for an hour then run clean water through the machine several several times to get rid of the vinegar smell. I then replaced the spray head after cleaning and your good to go. Hope this helps as well.👍💯

I have a VP17-3 and the only way I clean mine is with a citric acid powder and distilled water solution of 1 part citric acid and 8 parts warm water 💧. Mix the solution together well and pour in a coffee carafe up to 10 or 12 cup capacity then pour the mixture in with another carafe on the burner. Let it come out automatically to get rid of the clean water thats in the tank and let the freshly poured mixture to sit in the holding tank for about 30 minutes. Then fill the carafe with clean water and pour in with the spray head off so all of the lime can rush through into the coffee pot and repeat steps through several several pots to make sure all the calcium and deposits are gone. The clean your pots with soap and water along with your spray head. Reinstall your spray head and make your coffee as usual. Seems like alot of work but I do this every 3 months. Maybe sooner if you make alot of coffee a day. I only make about 3 pots of coffee a day average. Hope this helps. The citric acid can be found on Amazon. Urnex Dezcal Activated Scale Remover. It's basically citric acid in grainy powder form. Works wonders on removal of hard water deposits, lime and calcium that build up. Hope this helps.

Where do you get the spring to use, because I have cleaned the Bunn coffee maker with vinegar and I have cleaned the spray head and gotten the lime out and it is still slow. Ultimately I must need the spring in order to get it to brew correctly. Or Maybe I can call the Bunn People. Actually they are quite wonderful as they have helped us before. We are lifer Bunn users!

on machines like the STF brewers if you remove the upper burners assembly you would see that the spicot may be almost totally clogged causing the brewer to not only run slow but to "leak" from the sides as the spicot acts like a thumb over the end of a water hose and sprays in a fan causing it to look like a leak at the burner assembly seam...Also the hole in the basin will get chips of lime causing the basin to fill and not drain in to the tank in a timely manner. As far as the delimer spring goes, most people bend them trying to "jam" them through instead of twisting. If you can't get the delimer spring to go through trying to force it only ruins the spring. If it is jammed in the vacuum breaker it is time to call the technician. Most people don't use the spring as often as they should and if you are in a town anywhere in the lime belt it is necessary to clean the sprayhead after every meal like if you are at a McDonalds you clean the sprayhead and use a delimer (certain models use surgical tubing and can't be delimed with the spring) spring after each shift. STF's were famous for loosing the lower burner nut and the burner dropping to the base of the brewer causing the sides of the brewer to get extremely hot while the holes in the burner plate keep the plate from getting more than a little warm. The way to tell is if you see a "brown" burn mark around the burner plate sides on the stainless. The STF was still the best machine Bunn ever produced.
