Adam Alvarez "A lot of times they'll build a prototype like this and knowingly ignore some of the faults in order to test more important things, like the engine, suspension and ergonomics. Once they get that stuff perfected, fixing all the little things gets a lot easier. If you try to do it all at once things will ALWAYS go wrong from the get-go." Exactly. They knowingly ignored all of the things that would keep them from making it fuel efficient. If they simply wanted to show that it could be fuel efficient, all they had to do was put that engine in ANY 15,000 POUND vehicle, and prove the powertrain system. Then design a vehicle to fit it. The fact is, if they had finished the thing off with everything it needs, it wouldn't have been "30% more efficient", so the whole thing is a failure. As a matter of fact, it's already been replaced by at least one iteration, the FED Bravo, in which they completely changed everything in the powertrain. It uses a Ford twin turbo V8, the front wheels are electrically driven, and it was designed by college students. Oh yeah, and it's 70% more efficient... doesn't have pushbutton door handles...
Keep in mind that this is a 'project' vehicle developed to test lightweight materials and to improve fuel efficiency; it is not for war fighting. Danny Cannon and the few military guys that have been near real vehicles fill in some of the gaps. Popular Mechanics recently ran an article on a Stryker Brigade, where vehicles are differently configured for different parts of the mission. Those vehicles carry a nine-man team. This demonstration vehicle is four-man and might represent a command and control vehicle or serve a rapid reconnaissance function. As we saw this monster, it is a basic demonstrator about how a specific set of problems might be solved. It represents a different take on automobile use and the novelty itself is of interest to viewers outside the services.
You waited 'til the end to make one good point, "Novelty..." Recruitment. Period. Includes all the Buzz Words of this generation, hybrid, safety, diversity, fuel efficient, for one and Only purpose, to attract young people in America to put themselves in harms way for war mongers, and corporations.
Looks and specs impressive. I received Stress Fractures in my Spine from being beat up, everytime we traveled in the rough as guts Mogs and 6 Wheel Land Rovers in the Royal Australian Army back in the early 90's. I wish we had something similar back then.
I like that this FED is low-tech solutions to modern military problems. All the internal systems look easy to repair or replace. Its obviously not a front line or constant combat vehicle. Think of it as more like the ancient Jeeps, its for driving around a base or other areas that are supposed to be safer. Any sustained fire will shred the FED but it would provide enough protection that you have the chance to get the hell outta there. Another thing I respect about the FED is that it was designed to be the main "car" of the Army, it takes the place of all the non-combat vehicles. No need to have all the infrastructure for four car makers and a hundred different models, just one vehicle for the motor pool to learn about and store parts for. Also, anyone in the Army could drive it because it was designed with so many different uses in mind. The power steering and power brakes were really strong so even the smallest person in the Army can operate the FED as easily as the largest. I doubt the FED will be seeing much open desert in combat zones, however it would be right at home doing all the inter-base transportation. It seems like most of the rugged features are there as a "Better to have it and not need it" kind of thing, and the FED will spend almost all its time on regular roads with traffic maybe. So the anti-lock brakes and traction control don't seem like a bad idea.
CROOKED HILARY probably had a friend that donated to the Clinton foundation awarded the contract to build these weekend warriors. This exactly the problem we don't have the right equipment cause all the corruption in our Government - Shame on you Hilary & Obama
Canadian? I think you mean North American in general. I went to Montreal 2 years ago, and I thought "Canada sure has hell probably has better roads than the US, their practically the more civilised and practical version of the US", but no it seems to be the same as roads in Michigan
Patonki Jay and I are from the same part of Massachusetts. That's how we talk and that's how we drive, too. "Get outta my way! Get offa my road! Don't talk while I'm interrupting!"

After many years on TH-cam; having seen a large demographical shift in it's base..there's always been a certain pertainment of retardation that coexists in the community....Some stupider than others. But you; you're something else...you've pushed the limits of every illogical premise and misunderstood simple concepts of an insult; I'll break it down, so even YOU can understand it: I told you to get a thesaurus; because a word you had no idea of was used in an initial comment. One would use a thesaurus to see the word to find the definition to understand the word to know what I was talking about, to understand you're an uneducated slack jawed pile of scum. (And don't let those words carry anything but weight,). You later started pandering on about your ineptitude and I retorted in kind; as a result this is where we stand.
Never mind some #$@&! economy rating...the question does this keep our guys alive better than the garbage we give our guys now. How many lives...and limbs is this going to save?
Probably a $500k per unit vehicle. Would be nice to see what MIL could do with an off the shelf Raptor, or base F150 with an armored cabin and v-shaped diversionary floorpan. The bad guys are driving around TOYO pickups and just take casualties. Seems like this brick should be lighter, protective, and offer return fire at angles that aren't 90 degrees.
Engineers are not social butterfly's and Generals who are tasked to lead up projects like this are what they call Cerebral thinkers. They are horrible field officers. Google how a slew of officers were either reassigned or fired before the outbreak of WWII. In a nutshell they got rid of milk toast or ineffectual leaders and replaced them with officers who were aggressive and thought outside the box doers rather than talkers.
+Nathan Davis ~ I couldn't agree more, Nathan. Dictatorships don't care about financial savings, seeing as any money they have is stolen from the dumb unwitting masses anyway.
+Jerk Johnson This comment just goes to show how uneducated Americans can be. First, the President can't declare war, only Congress can. This is a demonstration of the checks and balances system. So how can America be a dictatorship when it uses the Madisonian model of government? In addition, 72% of the American people agreed with declaring war on terror after 9/11. Now, your counterargument might have been: "Well, the government is owned by the 1%, so they are all elitists." Congressmen are elected by citizens of the United States. So therefore, the 72% of Americans elected, and agreed with Congressmen declaring the War on Terror.
+AceOfSpades You must come from Stupjdville? Just ask the Guatemalans or El Salvadorians, or Libians or Eastern Ukrainians etc etc America normally gets others to fight its dirty little wars! Besides your Commander in chief can send in troops without a declaration of war.Stay off the Big Mac's and stop watching Fox and CNN!
+antzontoast He didn't say that he was American. Also, the President can only send in troops for up to 60 days without Congressional Approval thanks to the War Powers Resolution. Also, if you think Proxy conflicts are a new thing, or even unique to the US, then you really need to read up on the last 70 years.
After WW2 my father went back into the car business. He had eclectic tastes which I mistook for no taste at all. But every so often something weird would show up in the used car lot. One of my favorites was the Messerschmitt. During the US occupation Willy Messerschmitt couldn't build warplanes but he still had factories and machine shops and an imagination. So he built a 3-wheel car naturally called the Messerschmitt. It had a canopy but no doors, two tandem seats. From the aircraft shop came a yoke instead of a steering wheel to save space. It had a 175 cc two-stroke engine with a pull-cord starter (although mine would never start). I just wonder if there's a Messerschmitt (car) in the Leno collection. (We also had an Isetta but BMW didn't have Willy Messerschmitt's imagination.)
You can get a page 11 (or even a NJP if you hit something!) if a pissed off Captain or 1st Sgt sees one of their tactical vehicles operating in a friendly, populated area w/out a ground guide. So, basically its a 2 man vehicle at least 95% of the time. Im sure that roof hatch will eventually have a turret on it as well in the end product... a while down the road.
just out of curiosity, where is all this oil we were supposed to be fighting for when we invaded iraq? it's been over ten years, you'd think people would finally realize we didn't go there for oil. if we had, we'd be swimming in it by now.
on a serious note, most Iraqi oil fields are actually being bought by chinese state owned corporations, so if it really was an 'oil war' it kinda backfired.
They switched to 5.56mm rifle ammunition because it was smaller and easier to carry. So yeah not using too much gas is a big concern, that gas has to get to the war zone.
Both the Jeep and the Humvee were designed by civilian companies, whereas this is an Army design. Plus, it's WAY heavier than the former two, so I don't know if it could be made road legal for civilian use.
Almost 5 years in the army and have never seen this. From the looks of it they can keep it. No turret, No rear visibility, Rubber air bags for suspension have they been to a war zone, I see so many flaws in design obviously not tested by soldiers. If they did you missed a few things. If they actually make this army wide I hope they make a lot of changes. Also what's the point of the flimsy single solar panel in the back. Were they trying to make a rugged camping rig. So hefty camping rig i would definitely take. To a war zone going outside of base I would take a different ride If I may. Yes it is designed better than the standard hmmwv. Of course it rides more comfortable. Have you seen the standard army seat. Your lucky to have padding at all.
yeah that vehicle seems kinda crap :D that woman probably designed the whole thing since it has carbonfiber covering the engine and the radiators were totally uncovered too
Actually most military vehicles have very little engine protection. Most of the armor is around pax itself. Also don't be so sexist. Being a female has nothing to do with the way the vehicle was designed. The issues are lack of soldier input that have to survive in it. Real world situation feedback goes a long way.
if they made the engine compartment bullet proof the added weight wouldn't be worth is. beside if you get hit that bad. last thing your worried about is if there's still oil in the engine or if it's gonna overheat. their designed where you can keep driving for a while without oil or coolant.
Sales and marketer's don't know engineering. Engineers know engineering. Don't waste an engineer's time with questions that YOU don't want real answers to. THIS is why you bring in marketer's to joke around, punch around and laugh with and look stupid with.
@@gwillis9797 She got confused about MPH vs MPG on her OWN explanation. Didn't even understand the abs question. Should have asked to see her diploma, highschool grades and given her an i.Q.test on the spot
Leno nearly always interupts, but usually only to add an afirming or conversational interjection to the other talkers sentence/line of thinking. Sometimes it is eagersness or excitement, other times he is redirecting to back on topic, or killing BS, and other times he is being just a bit of a c*nt. He, Leno, is human, albeit an enviously rich one, but still appears relatively normalish compared to the many silver-spooned mega-elite economic-(US-)aristocracy types.
Don't worry, good people of Farmville, Iowa...when one of these shows up to guard your annual Corn and Squash festival from The Terrorists, you know they'll be doing it REALLY efficiently!
I thought US Army FED had something to do with potatoes. I'd think going with electric motors and a generator would provide better fuel efficiency/range, torque, easier field repairs, and a more flexible vehicle design.
+Tucker Dale You are correct. But it is supported and subsidized by you guessed it tax dollars. Who loans to the Federal Reserve? Yep the US Government. Then they loan our money back to us and charge interest. But the accounts the government deposit in the Reserve are for the most part interest free. So the profits are private but the costs are public. The rich get richer. That is why both Jefferson and Jackson so hated the idea of a "federal bank".
+DanOfTheWild 35 gallons is larger than the humvees fuel tank and it gets 30% better mileage. At the same time the humvee is basically completely unarmored and has no defense against mines or ied's.
This is a great start and improvement to the current hummers! Just needs to have complete electronics options package, night vision, radar, listening, GPS and remote access. Larger fuel tank approximately 100 GALLONS, and of course a CIVILIAN model (most important) Who ever care about what people are wearing you need to watch the fashion channel not this one!
There should be two small robotic vehicles that travel in front of these troop carriers to set off mines. A robotic mine detector would be of the design to take an explosion and be able to be blown in the air and come down in shape for the troop carrier to proceed on down the road. This design is symmetrical vertically, so it no matter if it lands on it's back, it can motor on.
It's not a tank, the only part of the vehicle that really needs protection is the cabin to keep the crew safe. The idea is not to have an invincible vehicle, its to increase the survival rate from roadside bombs and other high explosives. If it was hit depending on the damage engineers can replace the engine and fix exterior parts.
Its the work of simple physics. For example, if you splash a cup of water at a flat wall at 90 degrees, the water will splash everywhere and will be absorbed by the wall(in this case, would be the bottom of a typical Humvee). But if you splash water at a V shaped wall, the water will hit the tip and divert most of the water past it. So in this case, it would be the bottom of the vehicle in the video. The IED or a roadside bomb of some sort would theoretically explode under the vehicle and divert most of the explosive pressure up and around and above the vehicle in the air so it doesn't blow the actual vehicle into shreds. :)
And he was constantly interrupting/ignoring her. When he was under the vehicle she tried to point out the shape of the blast shield and he just talked right on over her. I finally gave up, cut the video off.
it better have better suspension than the Humvee does because that one was so bad soldiers would end up having smashed spines by the time their tour was over
The Humvee has 4 wheel independent suspension and rides incredibly well over rough terrain at high speeds, for the amount that it weighs. That's just me though, I only spent 7 months riding around on the top of one of these as a turret gunner in Iraq. If you want blame to a military vehicle for spinal injuries, blame the MRAP. You wear a harness in that truck because you won't want to ride in it without one. Otherwise you will literally fly out of your seat and slam your head into the ceiling if your driver runs over a rock the size of a baseball.
Bobby Boucher I saw a video about a soldier trying to get help from the VA because his spine had 3 smashed disks he claimed it was because the Humvees were always driving over bumps. he could barely walk but the VA just told him there was nothing they could do and refused his request for surgery.
Nobody in the units I was in had that problem. Most of the guys, actually wanted to ride in Humvees, or 7 Tons instead of the new MRAPs. Mainly because they have a more comfortable ride. The only reason anybody wanted to be inside of an MRAP was because it had 110 outlets. We had plenty of guys with back problems, but that was from lifting 100+ lbs rounds and emplacing/march ordering howitzers.
+madmanggo It's been a thing for a whole. I think the actual camo uniforms used in the field might be pixelated too. I heard it's actually better than the flowing organic shapes because of the way it tricks the human eye
A simple, Mercedes Benz 3.5 liter, Turbo diesel with a 6 speed automatic would have made the total cost $30,000 less and made this Tonka Toy EXTREMELY desirable in the used, civilian secondary market. Who the Heil would want a used 2 liter SUPERCHARGED and TURBOCHARGED 4x4 truck? That's like a Cessna with a rocket engine for propulsion. It's simply isn't necessary.
Strangely enough the army doesn't design vehicles for resaleability. These sort of things get used and used and used and when you're in a combat zone and people are shooting at you and you needs to quickly get away while towing the vehicle that just blew up next to you a little extra get up and go goes a long way
Add in some sleep deprivation and ambient road noise and somebody is going to mistake that sound as a mini gun going off. Two intentional sounds I do not want to hear from a vehicle is the sound of something breaking and the sound of somebody shooting.
Yea, they have these auto levelers on fire truck baskets, on the aerial ladders, and although necessary on a ladder truck, it takes the least bit of movement to make it work. I can't imagine that you are trying to sneak thru the streets of bad-guy-ville and drop into a pot hole and all that noise from the leveling system gives you away. Hopefully all that interior lighting from the monitor can be shut off...it would make you an instant target. Don't they get real life advice from users of this kind of stuff before they spend millions on development? ABS? Really?
And a 7 speed. 4 forward, plus a granny gear, r1+r2. Although I do agree with jay, abs and traction control? Just something else to break. I hope the 4x4 is mechanicaly engaged, as well as the diffrentials and, tranfer case.
Its in 4WD all the time, with a high lock which locks the center differential in the transfer case giving a 50/50 front & rear torque split plus 4WD Low Range...same setup that the HMMWV's have....and contrary to what many think the HMMWV's do not have locking front and rear differentials.
Remember: This was designed by people who've never been in battle. That high 6-figure PhD engineer probably never designed a car before. But, the purpose is to show congress and other key political figures the Army is, as Dirty Harry would say, "Stylish." That way, they can get more R&D money, hire more PhDs and bigger staff for the general. "Mission Accomplished!"
An inside look at an Army spec industry cooperative prototype, very cool indeed!!!

Once they get that stuff perfected, fixing all the little things gets a lot easier. If you try to do it all at once things will ALWAYS go wrong from the get-go."
Exactly.
That General seems like the type of guy that would take you out for drinks or something.
Probably wouldn't give you a nosh at the end of the evening, though. Mind you..
That's probably how he got his job.
Yeah, and convince you to give him all your money for stupid vehicles.
You waited 'til the end to make one good point, "Novelty..."
Recruitment.
They got the idea for this vehicle from "Stripes." It's the luxury edition of the "Urban Assault Vehicle."
Perfect for Canadian potholed Roads.
lol ,would be perfect
CROOKED HILARY probably had a friend that donated to the Clinton foundation awarded the contract to build these weekend warriors. This exactly the problem we don't have the right equipment cause all the corruption in our Government - Shame on you Hilary & Obama
f Hilary this is worse than the current humvee, has no rear view, no gun, air brake.
Amir Hussain
Canadian? I think you mean North American in general. I went to Montreal 2 years ago, and I thought "Canada sure has hell probably has better roads than the US, their practically the more civilised and practical version of the US", but no it seems to be the same as roads in Michigan
Does Jay ever let people finish? Or does he like to cut everyone up?
Andy_Curtis28 asks a question, cuts you off with another question as you begin to answer
Looks like you need to find other videos to watch. Jay is a big personality and is famous. He's gonna do what he's gonna do.
John Spradling He's still a human, and it's still rude to cut people off.
Patonki Jay and I are from the same part of Massachusetts. That's how we talk and that's how we drive, too. "Get outta my way! Get offa my road! Don't talk while I'm interrupting!"
Andrew_EP_Photography are you Canadian?

The self leveling system sounds like the Klaxton for diving your submarine
How are these the two best people to show off this vehicle
+Gamer 1 I'd prefer someone who had used it to it's true potential, not some pencil pushers who know what it can do on paper. I want to hear about it from people who have pushed it to the ragged edge.
***** I would prefer someone who was a good public speaker and who is experienced in promoting a product. Like a a car salesman for military vehicles lol
@Ellison Rodgers *i've NEVER Met a Gentile Rodgers.* Am i right to assume, that you are a tribe member?
Not only a great asset to the military... It also looks awesome!

I suggest you pick a fucking thesaurus up, sometime..you illiterate shithead.
What does "nonchalant," mean bro?
After many years on TH-cam; having seen a large demographical shift in it's base..there's always been a certain pertainment
of retardation that coexists in the community....Some stupider than others. But you; you're something else...you've pushed the limits of every illogical premise and misunderstood simple concepts of an insult; I'll break it down, so even YOU can understand it:
I told you to get a thesaurus; because a word you had no idea of was used in an initial comment.
One would use a thesaurus to see the word to find the definition to understand the word to know what I was talking about, to understand you're an uneducated slack jawed pile of scum. (And don't let those words carry anything but weight,).
You later started pandering on about your ineptitude and I retorted in kind; as a result this is where we stand.
lol the solider is nervous because jay knows what hes talking about
Math was never Jay's strong suit.
Jay's tongue-in-cheek comment pointing to the AR latched to the passenger-side door: "...you can return fire at any time on the 405."
you'll need that to drive around Baltimore
lol.......definitely!
and Philly after any major sporting event
Certain places should provide kelvar at arrival.
Never mind some #$@&! economy rating...the question does this keep our guys alive better than the garbage we give our guys now. How many lives...and limbs is this going to save?
No Chicago
i would love to see Top gear test one of theses
Probably a $500k per unit vehicle. Would be nice to see what MIL could do with an off the shelf Raptor, or base F150 with an armored cabin and v-shaped diversionary floorpan. The bad guys are driving around TOYO pickups and just take casualties.
Seems like this brick should be lighter, protective, and offer return fire at angles that aren't 90 degrees.
They had RP units and CUCV . Chevy Tahoe and pickup truck . I think it was M1001 and RP-2 something like that . Not much Armour if any
General is the ground guide! I never thought I would see something like that.
Whoa, looks good, sounds good, great job building this awesome ride.
Pretty awkward group of individuals lol
Engineers are not social butterfly's and Generals who are tasked to lead up projects like this are what they call Cerebral thinkers. They are horrible field officers.
Google how a slew of officers were either reassigned or fired before the outbreak of WWII. In a nutshell they got rid of milk toast or ineffectual leaders and replaced them with officers who were aggressive and thought outside the box doers rather than talkers.
@Jack T legend has it they were assembled out of FT. Bragg with spare parts and dead GI's .
Everyone keeps saying wow a 4 clynder thats garbage 200hp thats not much , obviously its not about the hp its about the torque lol
Bigger displacement is better. It means that the engine can more easily be used for off roading.
you could've saved a lot more money by not going into Iraq lol
+Person McPerson No, but he is stupid enough to qualify! What about the CIA, do they need congressional approval to start wars in far off countries?
Jay, you're the best.
11:05 running down the general
How is that? The General was in the passenger seat.
Called having a ground guide.
Generals rarely drive vehicles, they're too busy assessing the battle situations.
Brian Fountaine All military vehicles where you have limited vision use a ground guide.
You can get a page 11 (or even a NJP if you hit something!) if a pissed off Captain or 1st Sgt sees one of their tactical vehicles operating in a friendly, populated area w/out a ground guide. So, basically its a 2 man vehicle at least 95% of the time.
Im sure that roof hatch will eventually have a turret on it as well in the end product... a while down the road.
ah yes, nothing more important when fighting an oil war than to be fuel efficient.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
just out of curiosity, where is all this oil we were supposed to be fighting for when we invaded iraq? it's been over ten years, you'd think people would finally realize we didn't go there for oil. if we had, we'd be swimming in it by now.
on a serious note, most Iraqi oil fields are actually being bought by chinese state owned corporations, so if it really was an 'oil war' it kinda backfired.
They switched to 5.56mm rifle ammunition because it was smaller and easier to carry. So yeah not using too much gas is a big concern, that gas has to get to the war zone.
Nno, they switched to 5.56 because wounding is better than killing.
Put a jet turbine in it and Jay will buy it!
i love your vids dude
Hey Jay, Robert Tallini here. Love to come back and see you guys again. RRM
Thanks for making this video Jay.
Coming to your neighborhood in the very near future.
tin foil hats activated
it had a vary open grill.. no visible protection for the radiator.. one hole in that will make the truck just a hot box..
It will never see combat. It's for getting more money out of congress.
@@KutWrite hahahahaha so true
wonder if they are going to make a civilian version of this like they did the jeep then the Humvee.
Both the Jeep and the Humvee were designed by civilian companies, whereas this is an Army design. Plus, it's WAY heavier than the former two, so I don't know if it could be made road legal for civilian use.
placehood You have anger problems, you should seek help.
in bed
You can buy decommissioned tank i believe. Because FREEDOM!
the concept is good but the re engineering of it for civilian use is unlikely!
Jay Leno is awesome
Wow great ground clearance.
Would make a great snow plow,
that appears to be an illegal magazine in california
Good, Military goes by different rules, gun nuts should have no more than a colt python, gonna cry?
Real world situation feedback goes a long way.
but is very little engine protection good? it isnt
if they made the engine compartment bullet proof the added weight wouldn't be worth is. beside if you get hit that bad. last thing your worried about is if there's still oil in the engine or if it's gonna overheat. their designed where you can keep driving for a while without oil or coolant.
going to agree. as a former Marine there's so many things i can see that make me pass on it, this is just a typical tacticool mall cruiser.
Mr. Leno, please stop interrupting the engineers. I'd like to hear more of what they have to say....
theBarzeen sit down
Sales and marketer's don't know engineering.

That is one polite / nice general.
Love the YJ Jeep mirrors on it:)
And tj
When did Kanye start designing the Army's clothing?
LOL, well as long as we are incorporating technology from this vehicle into our current fleet, whats say we start with those seats.
Don't worry, good people of Farmville, Iowa...when one of these shows up to guard your annual Corn and Squash festival from The Terrorists, you know they'll be doing it REALLY efficiently!
***** LOL...I know. Yeah, there are actually a few. I said the same thing when I found that out lol.
Yea
Thanks 🙏
They seem like very exciting people!!!
I thought US Army FED had something to do with potatoes. I'd think going with electric motors and a generator would provide better fuel efficiency/range, torque, easier field repairs, and a more flexible vehicle design.
+John Matthias Yea, I thought it was a hybrid at first. Apparently not!
Press 10:22 for the most convincing answer you'll hear today
😆 doesn't sound like any engineer I've met
5:23 It seats four, but we've incorporated a flux capacitor, so it's all good.
God bless our service man and women!
It is called the FED, because that´s where the Federal Reserve wastes all your tax dollars
That was a good one!
+DanOfTheWild THANKS OBOMA! I'm sure he designed and rubber stamped every part of the designs for these himself. lol
At the same time the humvee is basically completely unarmored and has no defense against mines or ied's.
bullvalene Yet the Humvee weighs how many tons?
This is a great start and improvement to the current hummers! Just needs to have complete electronics options package, night vision, radar, listening, GPS and remote access. Larger fuel tank approximately 100 GALLONS, and of course a CIVILIAN model (most important) Who ever care about what people are wearing you need to watch the fashion channel not this one!
No such thing as bullet proof glass, it's called ballistic resistance
No such thing as glass it's called space resistance
jay leno is the man
There should be two small robotic vehicles that travel in front of these troop carriers to set off mines.
A robotic mine detector would be of the design to take an explosion and be able to be blown in the air and
come down in shape for the troop carrier to proceed on down the road. This design is symmetrical vertically,
so it no matter if it lands on it's back, it can motor on.
that self adjusting suspension sounds so annoying
+Mayky Recio It likely sounds a lot worse on camera than in real life.
+carpride oh
so theres no engine protection?
It's not a tank, the only part of the vehicle that really needs protection is the cabin to keep the crew safe. The idea is not to have an invincible vehicle, its to increase the survival rate from roadside bombs and other high explosives. If it was hit depending on the damage engineers can replace the engine and fix exterior parts.
There never was in the HMMWV's either, as is the same for most military vehicles.
Hold on a sec, is this a V-shaped hull vehicle, like the Cougar? I mean, vehicle that can protect the soldiers in case of IED?
yes.
Thanks Jay !
Like it Jay!! Thank You!!
It's fuel efficient compared to a tank.
She is the engineer, but when Jay asks questions about the car, he looks at the general. Hmmmm.
Good point! Wtf?
She's in camo too . . . she matches the general's drapes
Buzzards Bass
lol
And he was constantly interrupting/ignoring her. When he was under the vehicle she tried to point out the shape of the blast shield and he just talked right on over her. I finally gave up, cut the video off.
Super moist mangina party in da house!
it better have better suspension than the Humvee does because that one was so bad soldiers would end up having smashed spines by the time their tour was over
The Humvee has 4 wheel independent suspension and rides incredibly well over rough terrain at high speeds, for the amount that it weighs.
We had plenty of guys with back problems, but that was from lifting 100+ lbs rounds and emplacing/march ordering howitzers.
could have been a combination of the 2
Bobby Boucher Which version? I believe Motortrend compared two different models with different suspension configurations.
Wow really cool. Thanks for sharing
This shows how much Jay Leno is a TRUE AMERICAN
Perfect vehicle for women to learn how to drive :D
pixel camo is a thing right now huh?
These sort of things get used and used and used and when you're in a combat zone and people are shooting at you and you needs to quickly get away while towing the vehicle that just blew up next to you a little extra get up and go goes a long way
i love your show Jay
Great looking and safe.
That is a lot of expense and 4rouble to take 4 soldiers a short distance, surely it is just easier to simply not piss of and invade other countries
that auto level would get annoying real quick
ABS? Really?
I think you are thinking of a Bentley, Dale
Oh wow! A solar penal! WHY???!
Probably somebody in Pentagon said: "And it has to have solar panels on it!"
solar panel is useful in a situation where you can't run the engine to make power for comm gear.
I love the Jeep mirrors..
Very cool Jay!
30Gal?? Well, somebody was high....
Other than that this thing is perfect. It definitely needs a bigger tank.
