Surprised that I was able to memorize it all except for the tapping you I think to play this song is of course to memorize it and get the hang of it very easy to memorize just have to practice to perfect it
This is an excellent addition to your tutorials for Justin King! I'm having trouble with the "dead note" played with the left hand in the intro. I can't figure out how you're getting such a clean percussive sound hitting the fretboard, without playing any notes. It doesn't look like you're muting the string while you're hitting it either. Do you have any videos about that specific left hand technique?

@@archicrush hey you’re talking about technical difficulty right?! I think 7 out of 10 is very accurate for crow. You’re looking at a lot of hand syncopation with left hand legato at a tricky 135 or so bpm 16th notes. I think Phunkdified is also a 7 man! However we’re just using some more unique techniques that most guitarists are not used to. Fluently being able to thump or slap and then perform rasgueado at the tempo in the song is a different animal! Maybe a 7,5 to play fluently. I’ve seen a lot of poor covers for the song since the techniques need a lot of time to really perfect
Thank you again for this video. Can you give me any advice how I can master the triplets? Maybe a separate video? I feel like stopping when I finished one triplet instead of making it sound like a fluent beat. The most important part is for me the switch from the 1st to the 2nd triplets. So in general every switch. Thank you so much in advance. Great play and video! Thumbs up and follow ❤️💯💯
There’s something I can advise you on because I remember driving myself mad with it while learning flamenco 💃 haha Okay in my opinion the reason this technique seems so complicated is because everyone teaches you it has three separate strums - down with the fingers down with the thumb up with the thumb and yes that is correct, but because it’s a triplet you’ve got to think about it like threenotes on one beat and the thing that not many people ever mention is when they do this slowly like our guy in the video here they always do it with their fingers and this throws people off because when it’s sped up, it 100% comes from the wrist. In order to get this right imagine when you snap your hand forward your fingers and thumb have to be open so not close together or you wont get the separate notes. Practice it by just doing the down down on one snap of the wrist and when you get that incorporate the up/and honestly just do it all the time on muted strings and do it on your leg and anything And everything until you get it down but I swear when you do get it down, it become second nature and you don’t have to have every Strum in the song explained if that makes sense? Good luck!
Thank you for the video, Man! But I guess on 8:14 you don't play two dead notes in a raw with the thumb, which is quite natural, for that would be too hard to play that way and technically irrational. Instead You play one dead note with left hand finger and one with the right thumb. Am I getting correct?
Hey Dave! Thanks so much for this tutorial man! I've almost nailed it, but have a question about the chromatic ascent part (which you teach at 34 minutes) - is each downstroke, non-dead note (the actual chord) played on the beat? I can't seem to make it fit with my metronome. Is that part a bit more free time? Can't work it out from the Tab either. You've also taught my Perc - u - lator so thanks again for these lessons man :D
No unfortunately not which makes it a little confusing haha. The first one is but then every following one is played 3 eights note later. Hard to explain but think 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +...we play on the 1, the 2+, and also the 4 (every 3 eighth notes or dotted quarter note. Nope this makes a little sense
@@DaveConnellGuitar Hey Dave thanks for the reply man :) I find it's the trickiest part to keep in time, but I've worked out a way which works for me. I add an extra upstroke with my fingers as well as my thumb (so essentially, down fingers, down thumb, up thumb, up fingers) which seems to work well. It's probably not completely accurate, but it sounds okay! :D
@@MrClyMax Max I actually just finished an Advanced fingerstyle course containing a lot of tutorials on extended techniques and would love for you to have a free coupon. Just leave a positive review for me haha! www.udemy.com/course/fingerstyleguitarmasterclass/?couponCode=AEC6838674E0933563EA
Good question man! Very common thing. The only thing I can bring attention to is taking a good look at your left hand placement. It’s definitely a feel thing when it comes to making sure your hand is over all the strings but not pushing too hard either. Wish there were more instructions to help haha
Thanks a lot man!!! i have 2 questions: 1. Do you have the tabs for this? it is very complicated to remember all of this. i saw the tabs at the description but i dont see how it similar to what you did 😅 2. i have acoustic guitar the after the 12 fret is the body of the guitar, and you have guitar the you have 14-15 fret and then the body of the guitar, do you think i can play this with my guitar? thanks a lot again man
Hey man! Unfortunately I don’t have a specific tab for this video but I do for the older tutorial I did! As for your second question. Yes! You can definitely play this song with a cutaway on your guitar
Amazingly tutorial! I'm wonder if during the main riff when you slap the 5th string with your thumb do you mute the 6th string or are you just supposed to get so accurate with the thumb slap you don't even touch the 6th or 4th string? My thumb feels kinda fat to hit to cleanly 5th string without hitting one of the other 2 strings. Edit: Aaaaa! 2 days later and I get it now watch Dave more closely, he holds his thumb at a angle when he does the thumb slaps so it points kinda upwards with the motion being mostly in the wrist. This makes hitting with the thumb slaps more precisely possible than doing it more horizontally. Now just to practice for 6 months...

if the Crow (Jin San Kim) composition is 7 out of 10, then the punkfield composition, what score would you give out of 10?
