Hi everyone! Did I mention I love winter? It is such a beautiful and quiet time of year, and I love bringing the colors of nature into my home as well. There's something about the after-Christmas-color detox that gets me back in the mood to add color back - little by little.
I'm sharing some of our gorgeous mountain landscape during our recent winter storm then a silent tour of my kitchen and living room using natural greens, woods and warm whites - all using things I had on hand. If you have questions about anything you see, be sure to ask me in the comments below!

Thank the Lord for the beauty and peace we get to see here, it rests the soul and eyes. Anita, you did an amazing job with the video, are you playing the piano ? Have you ever thought about writing a book ? It would be a wonderful read, your time in service, you and hubby in Vegas and now "back home" with family in these beautiful mountains. You looked so beautiful out walking in the woods. You are an amazing woman.
Thank you so much! I’d love to write some kind of decor book☺️ We were not in Vegas though. We were both musicians in the USAF band program and traveled around the world entertaining troops, dignitaries, etc. ☺️☺️
There's a lot of channels that say their decorating videos but to me look like commercials for big box store. Nothing wrong with something new now and then, but using what we've been blessed with is the ticket. Love watching your channel and wish you could make more.

All of your videos are filled with such beauty and peace. Thank you for sharing your home. I was wondering if you have always enjoyed the jeweled colors and darker walls? What color is the Living Room painted?
Thank you Donna!! I go back and forth - I love dark, rich color and after having very light walls for a while, I found the dark color is soooooo good for letting art and accessories really shine. This is such a neutral, that I can use any color accent, and I love how things look against it. The master and living room are both Kilz Color Collection Dark Umber, a very warm gray. In the bedroom, I just love that it feels so cool in summer and warm and cozy in winter. The only place I don’t like it is in my hallway, and only because it’s dark, and I want the wood trim I restored to stand out so I’ll probably paint that, but probably a medium shade.

Was it hard to go to this sparkling but neutral plus green ? I keep thinking of trying it but I think it would take getting used to. How do you know when something is just new and different OR a plain old big mistake😅?
Ah such a good question! For me it’s trial and error, and even if I feel like it’s not working, I’ll play with it and add and take away until I do like it. Funny enough, with the neutrals, I always kind of “cleanse the color palette😉” right after Christmas, and I played around with that look but it didn’t work for me until I took all the red out - as much as I could and left the creams/whites with green. I find neutrals very restrictive that way, so as much as I loved it for a few weeks, I started adding color and pattern back in, so spring was a riot of color😂 Seriously, though it takes tweaking and playing with combinations one might think don’t work only to find out they might be just the perfect combination☺️☺️
So I find sometimes a “reset” just helps to clear everything - especially after Christmas when there’s so much going on, and then I appreciate the gradual addition of color and pattern so much more☺️☺️
Oh - my blog (linked in the description box) has lots of ideas from 12 years of blogging, but it’s currently down for some maintenance and we’ll be back up in a couple days☺️ Also I will show some of the behind the scenes trials and errors on Instagram☺️
