The government must get to the core of why UK riots are happening, and the police are going too far in their response, claims Ben Habib, former co-deputy leader of Reform UK.

I don't deplore police protecting people. What I deplore is police deciding to treat some people different to others. The two examples coming to mind: 1) Arresting people who have not done things then letting them go without charge because of it. 2) Not acting when people are on the streets with large knives that are clearly illegal. With the decision to do this based on race.

You might want to invite a migrant to live with you for the next 3 months or so. They could in every likelihood assist you with the quality of your English which let's face it, is diabolical. If you are going to post comments on You Tube or anywhere else for that matter please check them. An even better idea would be to let an adult check them for you.
And also think about the simmering resentment of the victims of the grooming gangs and those who find it hard to stomach theatre there was such a cover up for so long…these things were not addressed and so they come up when there are triggers …

What/who do you think "riot police" are? In the UK we do not have different police forces based on the role they have to do. "riot police" is just a name we give to police who have put on the protection of the gear like helmets.

I agree with tough policing, follow up arrests and tough sentencing which the government have announced in response to these riots. I would though like to know why none of these things were announced after the riot in Leeds a couple of weeks ago.

I think the people in Leeds damaged things for one night. I think these people are trying to set fires to hotels with people inside. It seems a bit different to me.

To the radio presenter, I watched over 1 hour and a 1/2 of video of the London demo and at the end I watched at least 20 people that were standing, talking and then arrested for nothing including the person who made the video. Yes I understand and agree that if someone was/is violent, then they should be arrested. However that was not the bulk of arrests. It is also not right that groups of people where moved in to small ares and not allowed to leave/go home/disperse. At that point I could tell all of them in that space would be arrested no mater how peaceful and in fact by the time the person tacking the video was arrested about 8 of the 20 or so people in the small area had been arrested.
This police action was wrong.
What about the 2 tier council houses 20 % indigenous... Is this fair...

He is not apologising for violence…not at all. He condemns violence if you drop your agenda and listen to him. If you only treat the symptoms and not the roots, you may , if lucky, suppress the symptoms for a while , but they will again arise and the wise see that and try to address the roots. Without addressing the roots, the symptoms will get increasingly worse until we get civil war. Is that what you want. Listen again to him several times he says he never advocates violence.

By what metric can Britain today be classed as the best country in the world? I fully agree, that as a landmass, fertility and climate wise etc., it is practically the promised land... yet our society, our civilisation, I don't think we can claim to be "the best" with a straight face, the economy is shot, farmland being left fallow, our industry all but gone, housing or land of any sort completely unaffordable to millions, homelessness rife, a growing underclass of lost youth locked in their rooms staring at screens, massively divisive, sectarian issues with new arrivals as seen recently and governance that is rapidly moving toward 1984's ingsoc. ...Not to mention a majority that doesn't know their neighbour's name let alone support any kind of cohesive sense of community. Don't get me wrong, like you, I love this land, oh so very deeply, but I think its time we stopped pretending all is well, yes tis not the English way to complain but remember that old quote: "All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." ...Well evil is prevailing far too often today, too often dressed as virtue too and denying it will not stop its rot.
