Yeah bro the 7 vaka began their journey from Havaiki somewhere in east polynesia some say it's Havaii in the north some say Havaiki in the Tuamotus an island with close ties to the cooks so before they left Havaiki they went to the head of the octopus (Te upoko ote heke) also known as Raiatea to the most sacred marae for prayers before the journey, Rarotonga was the last stop before the long voyage to Aotearoa. But some Maori tribes can trace their line back to Aitutaki,Rarotonga,Ngaputoru(Atiu, mauke, mitiaro) and mangaia from the cookisland line. It was said them rocks were brought to Rarotonga and placed their as Asa reminder of that voyage as that was a thing to do from back in the days. Later voyages came from samoa and tonga. Just a little bit of history bro.
