    Thx for the vid man! Just got my receiver all setup for my deviant coming next week. This vid saved me 🙏
    One question.. so I got the receiver and the pwn board updated to to the latest. For whatever reason, I don’t see any “ALT” Vario sensor being discovered.. everything else like the vertical speed is working perfect.
    Do you have any idea why it’s not being discovered? I can also reach out through ig or something if that’s easier

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the PWM board is updated correctly to V2.3.0, you should be able to discover the ALT sensor provided you are running EdgeTX 2.7.1 or greater (or OpenTX 2.3.15 and greater) with ELRS up to date. One thing to try would be deleting all the sensors and discovering them again. Also can you confirm which versions of firmware you are running for: 1. Radio Operating System and version 2.PWM Board firmware version 3.ELRS version on RX 4.ELRS version on TX.
      Enjoy the Deviant, I love mine and it climbs like homesick feather.

      @@mckaykimball nice, well if you have any build or setup questions my rcgroups username is mushroomed. Might see you in the Deviant thread there. I think the main things for a good maiden are making sure the surfaces all move in the correct direction, get the CG right - erring on the forward side. Little to no elevator in your launch mode at first, you can always add it in slowly over time. And test the effect of the brakes at altitude first- or land with them initially. You can then set up a flap to elevator mix to keep level or push the nose down a bit as the brakes move through their travel.

      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I have one in the Deviant and it fits nicely on its side in the nose with a 1S 380mAh lipo. I cut the pins one set of pins away so there's a channel for each servo and one for the battery, but don't know that this is even necessary to fit.

      @@spinlaunchglide Good to hear! Will also be buying one for my medina as well. Another question: how do you set up the arm switch on your dlgs? Elrs requires it but do you just have chanel 5 to always on?

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OkiOfOina I only fly four channel DLGs, and have never had to do anything to set up the ELRS arm switch. I imagine it is defaulting to on/armed. I think this same approach would work for the Medina, and you could set up a separate motor arm switch.

  • @butena55
    @butena55 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very very good introduction into this very good but also painful receiver. You have to set up the ELRS-TX-module, your transmitter, your receiver (via ELRS-configurator and Browser) and the PMW-converter with the matek configurator. You have to find the correct .bin file and so on. And you have to solderate the pins, before all other actions.
    One question, how can I set the Tims (is it necessary with 50Hz?)? And is it possible to get the voltage of the ESC battery?

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 'set tim' function can be used while the pwm board is connected to the computer with TTL. Use Matek configurator to set the output frequency of the PWM signal to your servos. If your servos can operate at a higher frequency, you can change this but otherwise it is not necessary.
      You can get the voltage of the ESC battery to be shown by telemetry, but in this case it is important to only supply power to the receiver once. You must disconnect the positive pin from the servo connector coming from your esc, so that the BEC is not supplying the receiver with power. Then, connect the VBAT to your ESC battery's positive terminal, and negative to G. You may wish to wire these directly to the ESC's battery connector, or make a small adapter to make it easier to run these wires to the receiver.

    • @butena55
      @butena55 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spinlaunchglide Thank you. Could you also use the battery balance connector? Which wire should I take?
      I moved channel 5 to channel 11 with the Matek configurator and put a switch on channel 11 for arming. Is that OK? The switch works fine.

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@butena55 no idea about the arming sorry, I don't use the ELRS arming with my gliders as I've got no motor to arm and only 4 channels! May be a good question for the ELRS Discord group.
      You should be able to use the balance connector to power the receiver and get voltage telemetry, same thing would apply about removing the positive wire from your ESC's servo connector. It'll probably be the two pins on the balance connector furthest apart to get the full voltage. This video goes over it: th-cam.com/video/avgxp2XDC-M/w-d-xo.html

    • @butena55
      @butena55 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@spinlaunchglide For your information: to display the BEC battery voltage, it is sufficient to connect the outer red wire of the battery balance plug to Vbat. It is not necessary to remove the positive pole of the servo pin, also the negative pole (G) on the board does not need to be removed. So I only put a single pin into the balance connector. It is also important to set the right Vbat_scale with the Matek app. The optimal value is '110'.

    Hi, just discovered your channel. What is that module in the back of the TX16S just under the handle?

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm using the Happymodel ES24TX Pro module to allow ELRS communication. The TX16S can now also be purchased with internal ELRS, but I prefer to have the internal multi module and add the ELRS externally. This is a very robust radio protocol that can handle very long range (50-100km). In my case though, I'm just using this to help overcome the signal blocking effects of a carbon wing/fuse. As you can see from the video, it's a bit of a complicated system but it does work very well.

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And in this case, when I'm referring to updating the TX Firmware, it's just the TX module firmware being updated.

    • @Coyotehello
      @Coyotehello ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spinlaunchglide Now you are making me think about upgrading my old Airtronics 8000 to a TX16s with ELRS.
      Why do you prefer to have the internal still as a 4IN1 multi module??Back ward compatibilities because you have many older RX? Or is there an advantage to keep the Multi module technology?
      Cheers.

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Coyotehello mainly just to give a very wide selection of protocols in total. 99% of my flying these days is on ELRS. The external ELRS module are more powerful than the built in ones, and by using an external module also help dissipate the extra heat outside of the radio.

    Matek rates the operating voltage from 5v and higher. What is your experience with running this receiver on 1s? Would you recommend this?

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Matek R24V receiver definitely operates below 5V, and I believe is also rated lower than 5V. I've tested the receivers down to 3.2V (my servos stop operating at this voltage). Paired with some of the new LV servos this might get some more flight time before loss of control.

    I've been using ELRS for a couple of years now. This receiver has gotten me beat so far. It's not going into WiFi mode and I can't connect to the pwm board. I have another Matek pwm board that I have no issues with so I'm guessing I've got a faulty one. Did you have any issues with any of yours?

    • @spinlaunchglide
      @spinlaunchglide  ปีที่แล้ว

      No faults with the three I've got. I haven't heard of a fault from anyone but doesn't mean it can't happen. May be worth reaching out to Matek? The only thing I've heard of is someone accidentally connecting battery power and USB at the same time and frying the pwm board. So no luck trying wiring direct to the PWM board? Have you tried wiring a UART direct to the receiver board? Not able to manually activate the RX's wifi via the LUA script?
