Humph. Just picked one up for 374. I best check the motor mount screws for lock time. Passed over the talion exb rr thinking that the fireteam was a good deal. Oh well, tomorrow I'll take it for a run and see if it lasts more than one battery pack. Thank you for the heads up on issues.
@5 Hot Fingers I looked over the Fireteam very closely, and the screws were tight and had locktite on the motor mounts. I haven't gone into the diffs yet. The only issue I have is the drive shafts They look like they are bent, but that could be the angle of their placement. I'll have to see if I could look at a showroom rc at my local hobby shop and compare. I ran two packs and the only thing that broke was the fan. There also is a small electrical "pop" when I connect two 3s batteries to the rc. I have no idea why this is happening. The pop comes from a electrical discharge in the ec5 connector. It always happens when I connect the second battery pack.
Earl, the main difference between you and 99% of other “influencers,” is that (I believe) your focus is still on the hobby itself - the cars and the fun - while most others focus on building their career as an “influencer,” and proving their loyalty to their sponsors while creating videos that appear to be genuine. You work a full time job, and you do RC for fun while taking the time to share your experiences with us. For many others, the channel IS their full time job. And they use their “influence” to earn their primary income. That’s the difference.
Always appreciate your honesty Earl. The increase in prices and decrease in quality is why I’ve taken a break from the hobby over the last year. I love wrenching but constant damage on every single run was exhausting, so I actually sold all of my 1/5th scale RC’s and bought a plated dirt bike. I never thought I’d say this but I’m thinking of selling the rest of my collection to get a second dirt bike.
Get a real rc like a tekno et48. It’s a race truggy but that thing would be the ultimate basher. Once I got into racing, I realized the crazy difference in quality between bashers like Arrma and actual racecar brands
Yes I owned mugens before I got my kraton. I got alot of time and money in my kraton now and have complete confidence in her. But a real 1 8 scale racer is head and shoulders above kraton or any arrma in every way, day more durable in bout 7 years I never broke anything on my mbx6 buggy and only a few arms in my truggy but they were all my fault colliding with things at full speed could of been lot worse
@@jpsaenz12 yes I had mugens before my kraton and realized it's just a mid grade truggy with monster truck tires the mugen is superior in everyway from the plastics to the metals to the screws. They may cost more initially but in the end you will pay more for the arma. And you can find some good deals on there buy and sale in fb
Earl, I’m new to the RC world after being out for over 30yrs. What do you think about the Team Corally RC Car’s & Trucks (truggies)? I have been on the fence regarding my first one, between Arrma and Traxxas until I came across Team Corally, even a novice such as myself I could see the difference in overall build for $. What’s your opinion? As I’m about to purchase one. I have driven a Typhon and thought I could start there until I saw the Python. Please let me know what your thoughts are. Thank You 🙏
I just bought the new Sketer and I'm impressed. It's pretty well built for a 1/8 scale let alone the 1/10th that it actually is. Value for the dollar is high with the upgrades they introduced to this model and in the new Kronos XTR. I went through mine a little bit and found a few small issues and one big one. I had radio issues out of the box, and am now waiting on HRP to warranty the combo. Oddly enough I stuck the cheapest Spektrum receiver and combined it with the same SLT3 transmitter in this video and it works great. What annoys me is that in order to get warranty I have to pay to ship the components to HRP for evaluation. If anything, that's where you'll see issues. Warranty claims may take longer and could possible cost you on your end.
Great video. I just bought a Kraton 6S and the first thing I do with every new rtr that I have bought over the last decade is instead of tightening the screws or checking for how tight they are, I remove a few key screws like motor mount and any braces to see if there is a thread locker on any of the screws. If not, I go through and add a thread locker. I know the quality control on just about every brand is horrible compared to a decade ago. Oh, the Kraton had no locker on the threads. Tore the whole thing done to a kit form and put it back together. Same issues with Traxxas.
Thanks for your video bro I'm not getting not I'm buying the skeeter Friday what do you think of the skeeter I just bought the Max V2 yesterday I got arrma vorteks coming in the mail what are your thoughts on the skeeter
All my three Arrma's came with empty front/rear diffs, and one was spilled all over the rear. O6s/O8s/K8s, all EXB. One of my bash buds also bought the K8s EXB a month ago and the box with parts was missing! So he had no servo saver, motor mount, ESC box, etc...
Appreciate the review and the time it took to produce it. Not deterred though, I think this is one of my favorite Arrmas. This review seems more about Arrma and Horizon QC than about then Fireteam itself ? Agree on price stuff though I don't think this is Fireteam specific issue. I picked one up and I love it more than any Arrma I owned (I have had all their 6s , 8s and 3s lines)
What's funny is I see Earl's channel as more information than I ever realized. I've always thought of California being one of the cleaner places because of all its rules and regulations and fines to only realize the California is worse than the cesspools of Massachusetts or the East Coast, I have insider info 🤫😂🤣
Amain has it for +$80 over the Mojave. For that you get a more complicated cage/body and a second servo. The styling grows on you and the handling is really good. It looks fun. Bashing in a construction yard at 45 miles an hour with hidden boulders etc is more than 'light bashing' so I'm surprised at some of the comments. The only issue i have so far is the assemble QC issues (lack of lock tight) and the light weight bearings look to be a bit of a cost cutting strategy maybe?? I've got a problem with that. I'll also add that the fireteam looks better dirty than clean!
To complain about damage after driving the rig off of 50+ ft jumps at 40+ mph into a concrete wall head on and smashing it into boulders is ridiculous. He was literally driving to break it.
@@kingwillie206 unwatchable. The motor mount was probably loose since that first head on hit at 40+. Then the entire bash after that, I mean I know I'm not a genius, but to call out a company over me landing horribly and driving at a death site is beyond me. Might as well drive into the poop water
Calling out quality control issue is what we need to be showing ppl as if I knew the common issues they could be solved before it cost someone money and time as it did me 💯💯not hiding the issue or saying we need to pull the whole rc apart to check it as a normal thing on a rtr quality needs to be in place for Arrma horizon other company have quality 💯💯
For me I don't see the value in this truck. It's too much money for a 6s arrma. The esc is over worked, servo doesn't last . Does it come with rtr diffs or the exb? It looks really cool
Geeze, my Arrma Typhon 6S has seen really bad days but has stood the test of time. It's 1.5yr old & was still running strong. I just tore her down to the last screw & gear & rebuilt her in a stretched build. Front main input gear was a bit worn, a couple worn bearings, rear bent tower & 1 bent hinge pin was the brunt of major damage. Rest of the car was pretty solid. And I really beat that car between bashing & speed running. Great video bro, really appreciate your non-biased input & keeping it real! 😎👍
I had the same three motor mount screws back out of my Typhon 6s too. I replaced them with 3 new ones with some lock tight and no further issues. Not sure 3 loose screws makes it a bad RC? We know there are QC issues with RTRs. You bashed it and sent it (after saying it wasn't a send vehicle) and some of those rock hits will do damage. But you didn't talk about that?
That’s not a send it jump and showing the hard hits is what happened Quality Control at this price point is the issue arrma is having for 2 years now but up intill this video no issues where discussed & thats my issue 💯💯
@@earlmoorhead5555 I agree with you regarding the QC issues and like you said in a previous comment, people just want to run it out the box without having to do any extensive QC. But sloppy QC doesn't make this a bad RC. It looks to be a great car to drive. Stable, jumps well. Ditch the handbrake, put heavier diff oil in the centre and it could be one of the best all round RCs on the market.
Hey can you do that for me please because you’re the only person that goes in depth about it because I ordered one and I need to know what parts to order thanks
I think it took a propper beating. You hit how many boulders? I am starting to agree with you about the hand break. A better raidio is needed, Lights would be awesome. I would be interested in a exb version of this.
I really like your reviews because you keep it real. I totally agree with you on everything you said about it. I do think arrma needs to put a larger bearing in the inner knuckle. I’ve gone through 4 of them on my kraton 6s. I’m about to upgrade to the hot racing knuckles since they use a larger bearing. Awesome video Earl
You took it to the a spot that I would have considered PRIME for this RC. Looked fun, too bad it didn't hold up but I think you did smack a rock at one point! It's probably kind of heavy too. These bigger RC's seem to be easier to break than the 1/10 scale.
Anything with a lot of power is easy to break. My 10th scalers at 3s constantly broke until I went all metal custom builds. Being totally metal and adding gyros and sealed ceramic bearings ended all the troubles. The 16 scalers at 3s are brutes. They're so light they can't hurt themselves.
Thanks pal, was also looking at one to purchase. Great ideas on this truck but think it's been let down on a good few thing. Hate the body. . . Just paper thin. Good luck with your rebuild . . . I'll keep an eye on how you progress 👍👍👍
Awesome review. I agree with J Smith, hitting boulders isn't exactly light bashing. But thank you so much for this review and you are totally spot on. Screws without thread lock is sad esp since Arrma puts a metal centre diff inside. Light bar would be so much better than hand brakes. I care little about the little men in the compartment. Would be happy if it was just a cage. Thought the body won't hold up as well as it did. Was going to bet some heads / arms / guns were going to fall off. How thin is that bearing that fell out?! Yes, please I would love to see what it takes to fix this up and what (more) you find in the process. Thanks heaps and well done. Good thing the fireteam didn't come back smelling like manure.
I wonder if covid hadn't hit if it would've been a $600 release? Either way, you hit on some key points. RTR's should not fall apart on your first run, especially if you're not sending it 200ft into the air. I also think that because everything has gone up in price that we the consumer's are paying closer attention to what we're spending our money on. Last 2 rc's I bought I opened right there in the store because the one prior to those 2 had some serious parts issues that kept me from running it. The last 2 I bought also had some qc issues, that combined with the price increases has me putting a halt on any purchases for a while. I appreciate you and your videos. It's nice having honestly amongst bought praise for an average if that product.
I agree! I’ve been reading post that mention the price people were paying and the price increase after Covid is ridiculous, way before the supply issue. Re: QC, like someone said on a forum I was reading, little 8yr old hands building these RC’s are not that strong! lol
First, sorry you’ve had issues. I see them and problems out of the box sucks. I love mine. Handbrake for me has been one of the most fun features. AVC and handbrake wouldn’t mix well. They would fight each other. I did Mention the nose drop/jump problem. I also Said it’s not a big air basher and wouldn’t flip easily. Rc Dude81 and Duperbash proved me wrong. Jumps a lot like the EXB Talion did with belted tires. That’s why I kept saying a mix between talion and infraction. I also have nose down problems with my Mojave. Long chassis doesn’t help. I Broke a bumper piece and Showed it. Also showed cracked body panel. I’m not into the huge air destruction anymore. Got bored doing it and watching it. So I like this for the type of bashing I do now. Just found one motor mount screw loose on mine after the last run. Just caught it. It was caked in snow. We had 5 people testing it at RC Fun Park (not all driving it well) and I was shocked at the beating the two we had took. But what I like is the plush suspension, soaking up ruts, and doing small jumps. Been having an absolute blast with it. Now rocking paddle tires for snow fun. My 8s outcast broke an a-arm way to easily. Showed it in my monster truck wars video. Not sure who hides crap. They don’t tell us we have to like it or can’t point out problems. 🤷♂️ (Tried to clean up my post. Typing on my phone and re-read it and it was a hot mess)
I’ve watched you videos jumping in the snow small jumps is what I felt you said so I was keeping it small i. The type of jumps Not hitting Bmx tracks and this was my second run first bash outing and you must have seen my last eight rc from arrma from the vendetta wheels out of round to the outcast 8s leaking everywhere? To the Kraton 8s first and second one I got to the 6s ExB differential failure from shimming issues it hasn’t been one rc for me it’s been to many quality control issues with arrma just a little rant so something gets done on this quality issues I feel the rc could be great but a 2 cent part causes lots of damage when not checked and the customer suffers appreciate the time you take to listen thanks 🙏 and I’d love to see any issue you and other have as it helps to know what to look for before we buy and run the rc 💯💯👍👍👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 I saw your out of box leaky shocks and Kraton 6s EXB issues like you said. An you didn’t go too hard on it. We beat ours way harder But, it wasn’t the same terrain. I’ve run mine for hours so far with no real issue I would’ve called a flaw or normal damage/wear and tear. Again. My outcast didn’t last a full battery pack before it broke. And the brakes were set way too low a %. Almost took out a kid because I couldn’t stop.
I just watched your fire team video. I have the white one, love it looks good runs good. The only problem I'm having with mine is the same bearing is blowing out just like yours, and I have blown 3 out. I'd repair it and don't give up on it.
Incredible honest video. Thanks for being brave enough to be honest! Any word on if they made any fixes from the 1st batch? I'm watching this video 10 months after u 1st released it and now it's $400 for the holidays. Should i be excited its $400 or worried it dropped in price so much? Thanks for any feedback anyone can give👍🏼.
What would you recomend for someone just starting out? money is not a problem. Looking at Losi dbxl 2.0 or Arrma fireteam or Losi BajaRey 2.0 Thanks really enjoy your vids>
@@earlmoorhead5555 What's your recommendation for batteries /charger? I appreciate and value your input. My local hobby store unless I'm breakin out my wallet they seem unwanting to help.
Earl, thank you for saving me $750. I was ready to go to my local hobby shop on Friday to buy the Fireteam. Now I’m going to wait!!! I was certainly influenced by all the early drops on this vehicle. Maybe Arrma will release it in a roller version down the road. I would love to see a follow up on the repairs needed and done on your Fireteam
Get a roller off of eBay and do it right if you are a true enthusiast. A lot of guys like me buy rigs and immediately gut them, then place the stock parts up for sale. You’ll see rollers on there soon.
@@kingwillie206 idk how buying a second hand rc off EBay makes you a true enthusiast? That’s strange to me I understand selling parts off eBay but to buy a roller with no warranty second hand doesn’t make anyone a true enthusiast??
@@earlmoorhead5555 - The original commenter knows exactly what I’m referring to. I’m not putting down people who buy RTR’s and run them stock, but there is a different level of enthusiasts who look for rollers and customize them knowing that they are junk as they come.
If you know the guy that makes sense but remember others read this and to me it sounds like someone selling stuff on eBay and also disrespecting those who are enthusiast like me 💯💯
Could have been a lemon? But it did take some hard hits! Cement block, 4inch rocks, nose dive.body did well i thought. Wish the toy men were not in the cage!
Welcome to the Arrma as owned by Horizon, higher prices and lower quality - total joke now, will be interesting to see how long the ESC holds up seeing as its out of spec for the size and weight of the car. PS the early release guys will never say a bad thing as they then never get sent anything again
I bought Sentons for my son and myself, until we started upgrading. Motor and esc bearings and other parts we couldn't get through a whole battery before something would fail. No joke. I'm in Canada, Horizan said to send them to them and they'll fix it. We where just getting into the hobby. Cost was way to much to send it to them. My son which is in is twenties doesn't want anything to do with RCs anymore cause of the money we put out and the service we got.
Appreciate that I’m with you on the BS out there it’s just making ppl buy stuff that they don’t want as it looks soo good till we run them 🔥🔥👍👍thanks for the support 👍
Is it a basher though? What are your thoughts? To me it seems like my mojave like you can use it on a flat track and go crazy mad with it plus you can Bash with it but unlike say a kraton there is just to much plastic... so I think jumping is out of the question for this car stock out of the box.
Hopefully they release a roller version so I don’t have to waste any extra cash for a esc/motor combo as well as a servo and tx/rx set that none would ever get used, but even so as soon as I saw the white one on AMains website it went straight to the top of my list of next rigs to add to my collection that is growing quickly again ever since I sold a bunch off thinking that 20 rigs was too many haha. Then I saw your collection video a few days ago and realized that even though I can afford them, I don’t have nearly as big of an addiction as some other people lol. Also, I don’t really ever go full send off huge jumps clearing 30+ feet, as the majority of my time is on my local track and when I’m not running the track cars I find places like this video and run them like you are. Any more crazy than that and breaking things is too common. I will say that my Tekno ET48.3 that was my first vehicle I built 3.5 years ago when I started up my RC addiction from scratch after several years of doing responsible adult things like spending 10 years working my real career type job, buying a house, making a kid etc. After only a couple of packs through the Tekno I could tell that it was far more durable and beefy than any other 1/8 sized rig I had ever owned and it wasn’t long before I owned every electric Tekno vehicle except the MT410, and also building all the new TLR 1/10 and 1/8 electric vehicles other than the 2wd short course, my two favorite that I always want to run are the now 3.5 year old ET48.3 followed by the ET410.2 that I’ve had about 2 years. In all that time there have only been 5 or 6 parts total that I’ve broken and had to replace, and they were all small cheap things like a plastic steering rod ball end and a couple bent hinge pins. It’s crazy how many huge high speed crashes I’ve had and the bodies are the only parts that I can break are bodies as I’ve put several big cracks in those in just a few days at the track. When I got the Tekno SCT410.3 the first place I ran it was the track and I was so horrible at jumping it that before I had even finished my second battery the body was completely destroyed and was missing an entire rear fender. 8 hours to mask paint and trim and about 25 to destroy it haha.
✌🏻😎🏴Preach Earl Preach 😂👍🏻. Personally I love the honesty Earl 👍🏻. I’m sick of all the BS on TH-cam too & I still think we need a BS button 😂. I was thinking about going through every video HH has just looking for clips where they have RC’s jumping way higher that 2 feet just to call them out on their false advertising videos. If we can’t do what they do in the videos under warranty they shouldn’t make videos of their vehicles doing those things suggesting we can too. HH ain’t the only guilty parties though so I would have to hit everyone up with a court case. I’d Accuse HH of price fixing but they own almost everything now😂.
Looked like there was a bit thread glue on just the inner/upper part of the screw, not the tip that goes into the motor mount. Yes thread glue is a bit maybe maybe with Arrma. Some screws have non and some has way too much. If the motor is hot, check the ESC settings what stock timing is set at. You can drop it to zero, and loose a bit on max speed but the motor will run some cooler. And if all is good with motor timing set at zero, try the bigger pinion for more speed again 👍
earl i feel your pain, but look at the video you hit some pretty big and heavy rocks head on , and a couple of bad jumps . the area was awful . deep , choppy land with alot of big rocks . factor in the fireteam is a large heavy vehicle. I'm not surprised at the damage . i heard the altitude, temperature, and pressure change from china to here air or sea, cause the diff and shock oil to leak and screw to loosen !
I feel like you get 1 or the other; Either they use an entire bottle of locktite and you strip screws trying to take them off or there is no locktite at all. My standard practice is to treat every RTR like a roller. I always bolt check and locktite all metal to metal screws and do all three diffs with 1mill center; 500k front and 100k rear diff. That's my standard 6s set-up on all things Arrma.
Wait an arrma bearing failing. That is new. Maybe the bearing had no grease in it. I had never this happen on my bearings ever. For it to do that after one run. Dang. For the screws its dam too much threadlock or there isnt any.
Great video, I would love to see you work on this and make it how you would want it so that the people out there that already have these know what to do to make it right and a fun basher. Maybe Arrma can learn from your videos.
All they do is change a few parts like the cage or tires and the name and charge insane amounts of money.. it's good to have someone give an honest view and to spend his own money to do so says a lot! Love your videos man !
Keep the honesty going, everyone's experience is different and good to hear them all and the details. Also thought it was weird that there were so many videos on day one.
yo nice e46 lol, ive also had my share of arrma quality control issues with my kraton 4s(no loctite on the pinion and slipper clutch). We all wish that our rc cars come put together properly, with the label "ready to run" after all, but the reality is sadly diffrent, and buying any rc car, not just an arrma, is like buying a loterry ticket. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. What i like to do is either build them myself (sadly that usually doesnt go perfectly on the first go) or buy used rc builds on the internet, which, ironically, have better build quality than the factories lol.
Earl that’s why I only brought 2 of Arrma cars. Limitless, kraton exb roller. I don’t feel like I should spend all that money for a Rc and still have to spend more for repairs out of the box and my time. I understand nothing is perfect. But for the money we spend it could be lot better than what we get.
Replace the motor mount screws with 4mm cap heads, then you wont strip them out. Stock is 18mm I think but I always use 4x16 with locktite and a washer for extra surface area. Never had any issues. I always check all my screws and main screws/wheels nuts before my first run.
Here is the issue I have arrma says shim differential before running now and check all fluids as sometimes there empty now and then this so now I’m rebuilding a built rtr before I run it’s a poorly assembled kit I’m paying assembly for 😂😂😂😂😂
@@earlmoorhead5555 yeah I agree man. I sorta wish these just came as kits in a way, then I wouldnt be fixing arrmas and dumb peoples mistakes 24/7 at work either lol. The people that do build the kits know how to fix their own stuff. But really arrma should work on their QC. We got a Losi Baja rey 2.0 1/6 in with all the diff fluid drained into the box. Horizon seems to not have great QC lately. At least they offer good warrenties though
On that thought too, horizon has a system where we warranty a product, send a picture, and throw the old one away. I wonder how much of a goldmine their dumpsters are... Imagine even 200 brushless motors in there. Thats a lot of copper. Or 294728 spektrum servos in there lmao
I like this but I’m thinking i should just still invest in a Xmaxx. the Fireteam panels cost to much my opinion And i do feel this would have been a good vehicle for Arrma to add LED’s too. sorry about the motor mount screws smh.
I was going to buy a kraton. But then I watched a few videos on the new improved Corally Kronos. Man what a beast. It came with an extra clear body. And has all kinds of 7075 alluminum upgrades on the xtr. Roller. So I decided to get the Corally Kronos instead.. just waiting for winter to end here so I can test it out. I was not a fan of arrma changing to spectrum electronics. I know and trust hobbywing . Spectrum has not impressed me. Great videos bro. Keep up the honesty. God bless you 🙏 ❤
Spectrum is a rebrand of hobby wing team corally has some weak point and if they fix them I feel they will be good but until those weak links are replaced the savings we get is not enough 👍👍appreciate the comments 💪
@@earlmoorhead5555 I didn't know spectrum used hobywing also. And I think Corally has fixed the issues with the new revised edition. Only time will tell though..
Earl man I want to start by saying I really liked you an ur videos... I have saw all the fireteam ones you've put out along with everyone elses... now I totally get being honest an showing what's bad about it but in all your video's you just seem so negative about this thing every video its 800$ 800$ 800$ yes we get its 100 more then the kraton... I felt all you did really was point out how much better you could've made the rc... an the screws falling out I really thought you checked all that b4 you ever drove one... I'm new to the hobby an I'm poor but even I dont drive a arrma with out checking every nut an bolt all fluid idk just wanted to give you some feed back your great at what u do just hope maybe you wont be so negative cause I've had some really crappy traxxas too... an they're stupid expensive
Great video Earl!! 💯💯 That sucks that there was no lock tight on the motor mount. I can't wait to find out when you go through it how many other bolts are not thread locked. It looks like a fun rc but at this new price point it shouldn't have these issues. 😜😜 Hopefully nothing is destroyed. Looking forward to your next video about this fire team. 🔥️🔥️🔥
I got an infraction not long back and turned out to have a loose pinion gear, the grub screw didn't have thread lock ! So I stripped it and the diffs were virtually dry.ive only just got back into the hobby and not what I expected for an RTR on that level of price.Like you say it should be ready to put batteries in and go,why say RTR,But it is what is I'll still enjoy them and I do like Arma.
I totally think every arrma should come as a roller so they can increase their quality while not having to lower their quality to keep the price down to include electronics. I feel like most people prefer to put in their own electronics, even if they want to put in spektrum electronics. I have at least 6 combos of the 150a/2050kv motor that I'm not using. The exbs were a real hit for me in that category. The handbrake itself was a miss because it should've been on the battery size to allow much bigger cans, that really disappointed me. Was looking forward to putting in an 2028 but that idea was scrapped to keep the dumb handbrake.
"whip it baby, whip it right...whip it baby, whip it all night!" price point is so very discouraging to us that love to bash.. for that amount of money it should not have them issues. it should be READY TO RUN! frustrating. I thought it had lights on it. Yes they should've had lights on that thing....sheesh!
Thank you! It's great to finally see a real review that didn't just feel like a promo reel for this rc. If I were you I'd dump it, unless you feel it gives a vastly different experience to the Mojave.
Great and honest review Earl! 💯👍 You are so right about demanding quality while paying 800$ on an RC. Keep it up with the good content man, love the way you focus on educate your viewers. 👏👏
I'm glad I went with building my Tekno MT410 instead of the fire team, I still want one or maybe a mojave exb but now I see the quality of my tekno and I know it was built perfectly.
I had the same bearing blow on my talion after one 50 meter run across the field no jumping no wheelie. Was shocked now seeing it happen to you too. Arrma tough 🤬
Earl good vid thats why i love your content, you are honset about it anf explain yourself very good thank you and yes arrma definetly needs to start doing better qaulity control stay safe and later man keep up the good hard work 😎😎😎
ive always had issues with losi LOL... mini 8 motor fried mid track...didn't even complete a lap.. DBXL both front drive shafts broke inside the CVD cup and ripped apart my axle carriers on the second run.. lasernut spun a bearing on the rear diff in turn trashing the diff housing and bevel gear.. (daughter was driving it on a 3s turned down to 50% so it wasnt going more than 20mph the entire time)
But no screws falling out 🤷🏻♂️ Brocken parts I can see it’s parts failing but leaking differential leaking shock on the unboxing and differential not shimmed right to hardware falling out is all assembly issue that really bother me 👍👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 your diff was leaking? i had the same issue with my infraction, and my kraton 6s.. the infraction every diff was leaking after first run..
Very true honest opinion. Thanks I was tempted but may wait a while or until v2 as its sooooooo expensive. And I agree that influencesrs should always tell us how it really is 👍
Yes 👍 I noticed after all the preorder and first delivery is when we really see what commonly fails in an rc car but until the company makes its money we have to sit and wait for parts while all these defective rc’s sit at are houses 👍👍⚠️⚠️
Loved this honest review bro. Great bash and beat down. Shame it lost the mount screws and you are 100% correct in the lack of quality control. I do love the look of the Fireteam and was looking at buying one but I’m gonna go for the Mojave EXB instead. Thanks for the great vid bro and keep bashing. 😃👍🏼
On Duperbash’s first video of the Fire team I did catch him say he swapped the hubs for Kraton EXB hubs. If I’m understanding right this is a Mojave chassis with kraton EXB arms and Talion hubs. Heard of many people building their own version of this car before Arrma released this car.
@@earlmoorhead5555 he did mention stance but the talion is lighter than the Kraton by a little bit. My thinking would be kraton hubs run a larger bearing.
You know what Earl ?? I’ve been following you for about 3 years now and I respectfully I think that you have always been honest and unbiased in your evaluations of any and all the RCs I’ve seen on your channel….. I was away from the hobby for more decades than I care to mention….. My RC garage has the E-Revo vxl 2.0… the Traxxas DragSlash…. And the Arrma Felony in it …. And it’s been my personal experience that I had Zero QC issues with the Traxxas RCs… but my felony had a lot of issues with the factory assembly… when I went over the Felony before I even ran it for the first time and found screws stripped out on a lot of the plastics and to top it off …. Im on my 3rd ESC and its not even a year old yet …..I guess it boils down to if anyone wants to buy ARRMA…… be prepared to spend extra money for things that should have been done at the factory in the first place…. As always E …. Thanks for what you do for us in the hobby….and yes…. I still refer to you as an RC Yoda…. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯
Yes Losi and traxxas out the box are assembled very well not saying the rc are perfect but the build quality is on point with very little to ever call them about now arrma been a nightmare on assembly and the army are the one saying we need to pull the rtr apart to correct the issues are self🤔🤔not a rtr then 👍👍⚠️⚠️⚠️
Thanx for your reply Earl … I know you’re a busy guy who probably has dozens of comments you’d like to respond to and so many hrs in a day to do them….. in my former line of work you qualified as a standup kinda guy ….💯👍🏻
I think you called this rc pretty close. I agree they seem to have went a little cheaper on some things for a rc costing $800 especially with the remote and electronics, seems like the motor a bit under powdered. I like the look of it,it reminds of a smaller dbxl-e kinda but no where near the value. Definitely would benefit with some lights.
I am shocked, that amount of money, that thing there is simply called junk. No other way of saying it. Great honesty man. Hit the nail on the head guinea pig comment!
You hit on all the points. Man I stated all this in the Arrma group two weeks ago. Upon walking into my LHS & actually looking at this truck. I went straight to the group with my honest opinion of how I personally thought it wasn't worth the $800 pricepoint. They all accused me of just being a *HATER* 🙄 Good old Arrma RTR.... "Ready to Replace" 😤👎
@@0thers1d3 very true but regardless of whether you actually like this car or not. This facts remains true, absolutely no one should have to take a $600-800 RC home then have to go over it with a fine tooth comb. The low QC combined with the marked up pricing these days is absolutely ridiculous. Earl has said it, RC GUY has said it, HARDCORE RC has said it. They all make very valid points 👍🏾❤
Think with guys like Duperbash and Eric they always modified the RC's to thier liking . They'd influence us how we could do the same. Being practical with cost and value that related to us in the beginning . But point I wanted to make is any RC's we spend time and money to drive to the limits becomes our favorite RC's. Till we build another . Those guy getting and test so much they had removed the value factor for the guy with a couple rcs or on a budget and want to fly . Most the products are top notch and they are honest and they just enjoying the fruits of thier labor got be cool getting parts to test now with the prices and like tony said it gets old sending and breaking our RC's now granted it does get boring not pushing the limits lol . I mean if you factor QC the arrmas are double the price which is why I've never sent my rcs over the years to begin with. i was buying 3xel losi working on my muggy getting back into rcs and seen Duperbash bash sending the outcast for 500 when losi 750 and owning the muggy I knew what can cant do and being a xcross rider ect ect my skills that stuff I had just the practical sence destroying a 800 rc . Just like those guys I can litterly destroy a rc in one day one or session lol except im working for my stuff so is what is . I mean arrma was ahead of the game with value and bashing still are imo just gap closed. I've been using my maxx daily same weather's as rccg so its alot less maintenance and my arrmas I take little more seriously now bc I do have money and time but still the fact performance wise arrmas still reign Supreme.
I Like your take Paul C. I watch Rich DB & RC Dude81. They send their rigs like no other. They test the parts that in turn we buy. Are any of us as hard on our rigs as they, maybe but most are not. Destroying a 750$$$ RC is crazy. Pushing it and driving it your limits well YES. You break it, own it. Fix it and bash it again. Quality control should be better!! My Arrma's have always been Great. You BUY what you want. Plain and simple. 👍
Humph. Just picked one up for 374. I best check the motor mount screws for lock time. Passed over the talion exb rr thinking that the fireteam was a good deal.
Oh well, tomorrow I'll take it for a run and see if it lasts more than one battery pack.
Thank you for the heads up on issues.
I'd love to read your update. Interested if they updated any of the screw issues or bearings.
@5 Hot Fingers I looked over the Fireteam very closely, and the screws were tight and had locktite on the motor mounts. I haven't gone into the diffs yet.
The only issue I have is the drive shafts
They look like they are bent, but that could be the angle of their placement.
Thank You 💯 most others work for the mighty horizon hobby
Yes I have my career already this is my hobby and I love it 👍👍👍
The three big TH-cam RC influences are not honest with us at all. Sad!!! They will never be honest with us!!!
All about the $$$$
@@rcjunkie260 who are the big 3?
Oh yeah I have found problems on every truck I have bought.
So glad I waited on this rc. I got mine for $399 on black friday! Thanks Earl...
Yeah I love dirt bikes bro nothing wrong with that good choice
Get a real rc like a tekno et48. It’s a race truggy but that thing would be the ultimate basher. Once I got into racing, I realized the crazy difference in quality between bashers like Arrma and actual racecar brands
@@jpsaenz12 words of wisdom I own all teknos I will never buy another arma or traxas rtr china crap tekno is #1
Yes I owned mugens before I got my kraton.
Earl,
I’m new to the RC world after being out for over 30yrs.
What do you think about the
Team Corally RC Car’s & Trucks (truggies)?
My stampede spins around with ease i keep looking for a hand brake on board but can't find it hmm 🤔 lol
Appreciate the honest commentary and mechanical insight. You are one of only two content creators I trust in the RC space.
Whos numero dos?
All my three Arrma's came with empty front/rear diffs, and one was spilled all over the rear. O6s/O8s/K8s, all EXB. One of my bash buds also bought the K8s EXB a month ago and the box with parts was missing! So he had no servo saver, motor mount, ESC box, etc...
Yes QC 🤷🏻♂️
Right 👀😜😜
Look at the big cesspool lake at the construction site 😟
That was a surprise seeing that hose run from the port💩A💩potty 🥴
@@rcjunkie260 right smells like portable toilet 🚽😜😜
Amain has it for +$80 over the Mojave. For that you get a more complicated cage/body and a second servo. The styling grows on you and the handling is really good. It looks fun. Bashing in a construction yard at 45 miles an hour with hidden boulders etc is more than 'light bashing' so I'm surprised at some of the comments. The only issue i have so far is the assemble QC issues (lack of lock tight) and the light weight bearings look to be a bit of a cost cutting strategy maybe?? I've got a problem with that.
I'll also add that the fireteam looks better dirty than clean!
Well said…..👍🏻
Aluminum center diff and better tires also in fairness
Rtr if they were exb nobody would be complaining about the price.
Thanks 🙏
I never once said it was a bad rc ? I was even giving arrma credit for a strong rc intill the screws fell out ?
I am the same now with my kraton exb not wanting to take it out for a bash too expensive and expensive parts and seems to be hard to get parts lol
Good Morning, are you gonna put a new video for all the repair you did on the Fireteam!
Yes 👍
Would like to see it done right and what it would take.
Hey can you do that for me please because you’re the only person that goes in depth about it because I ordered one and I need to know what parts to order thanks
I think for that kind of money, it should be nearly indistructable. Thanks for the reveiw and honest opinion.
Thanks 🙏
Earl your take on the rig is spot on! Thanks again for video! 👍🏽
Everyone complains about too much locktite on the motor mount and now we get this... honestly to be expected.
Thanks 🙏
I agree!
I’ve been reading post that mention the price people were paying and the price increase after Covid is ridiculous, way before the supply issue.
Re: QC, like someone said on a forum I was reading, little 8yr old hands building these RC’s are not that strong! lol
🤔😂⚠️
(Tried to clean up my post.
And the VORTEKS slipper clutch on my daughter rc 😳🤔🤔the list is big on my arrmas 👍👍

Thanks 🙏 rcmm
Looked like there was a bit thread glue on just the inner/upper part of the screw, not the tip that goes into the motor mount. Yes thread glue is a bit maybe maybe with Arrma. Some screws have non and some has way too much. If the motor is hot, check the ESC settings what stock timing is set at. You can drop it to zero, and loose a bit on max speed but the motor will run some cooler. And if all is good with motor timing set at zero, try the bigger pinion for more speed again 👍
No that dirt at the top of the screw if it was lock tight it would be at the tip 👍👍I could never unscrew it by hand 👍👍👍
I know you’ve seen the issue before as you nailed it in the comment 💯💯
Great video. Not convinced by the price tag and the machine gun stuff, but the body is nice.
earl i feel your pain, but look at the video you hit some pretty big and heavy rocks head on , and a couple of bad jumps . the area was awful . deep , choppy land with alot of big rocks . factor in the fireteam is a large heavy vehicle. I'm not surprised at the damage . i heard the altitude, temperature, and pressure change from china to here air or sea, cause the diff and shock oil to leak and screw to loosen !
Yes where I’ve been running for a year now 🤔
I feel like you get 1 or the other; Either they use an entire bottle of locktite and you strip screws trying to take them off or there is no locktite at all. My standard practice is to treat every RTR like a roller. I always bolt check and locktite all metal to metal screws and do all three diffs with 1mill center; 500k front and 100k rear diff. That's my standard 6s set-up on all things Arrma.
Right 🤔🤔
Grate show.. hello from V&b speed a new rc community channel ✌
Wait an arrma bearing failing. That is new. Maybe the bearing had no grease in it. I had never this happen on my bearings ever. For it to do that after one run. Dang. For the screws its dam too much threadlock or there isnt any.
Me either never had bearings fail on an arrma this quick if at all 👍👍
Glad you did this review! I literally almost bought one of these instead of the mojave exb
Great video, I would love to see you work on this and make it how you would want it so that the people out there that already have these know what to do to make it right and a fun basher. Maybe Arrma can learn from your videos.
Man thank you for your video you just make me realize it is just a Mojave with a different body and I was thinking of wasting $800 😮💨
Yes like one long commercial 🤔🤔
yo nice e46 lol, ive also had my share of arrma quality control issues with my kraton 4s(no loctite on the pinion and slipper clutch).
Canceled my horizon preorder… thanks for the honest rc footage to this rc. Sure makes fun driving it but looking pricewise it’s a total no go for me
💯👍👍
Waaay to much for what it is.....
Have you just put the kraton arms on a mojave and run it? Do the wheels clear the body ? That id like to see
Earl that’s why I only brought 2 of Arrma cars. Limitless, kraton exb roller. I don’t feel like I should spend all that money for a Rc and still have to spend more for repairs out of the box and my time. I understand nothing is perfect. But for the money we spend it could be lot better than what we get.
Yes 👍
Exact same happened on my typhon 6s, lost two motor mount screws. On second pack.
Dang it arrma 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Great video and I am speechless 😶 on the quality control 🤦♂️👊👊💯💯
Replace the motor mount screws with 4mm cap heads, then you wont strip them out. Stock is 18mm I think but I always use 4x16 with locktite and a washer for extra surface area. Never had any issues. I always check all my screws and main screws/wheels nuts before my first run.
👍👍
@@calebworland967 yes but Losi LMT Tony recommend is awesome with no assembly issues I own two with no assembly issue it seems to be arrma mainly 💯💯
I like this but I’m thinking i should just still invest in a Xmaxx. the Fireteam panels cost to much my opinion And i do feel this would have been a good vehicle for Arrma to add LED’s too. sorry about the motor mount screws smh.
Hi Earl,
You are the FIRST TH-cam INFLUENCER that I have subscribed to do to your honest (not promotional) reviews mentioned by your subscribers.
Another great video boss! I would send that boat anchor back!
I like that you look at things from an engineering standpoint. Solid review
Thanks 🙏
I got an infraction not long back and turned out to have a loose pinion gear, the grub screw didn't have thread lock ! So I stripped it and the diffs were virtually dry.ive only just got back into the hobby and not what I expected for an RTR on that level of price.Like you say it should be ready to put batteries in and go,why say RTR,But it is what is I'll still enjoy them and I do like Arma.
Right 🤷🏻♂️
love your honesty thats why i like your channel
Thanks 🙏
I totally think every arrma should come as a roller so they can increase their quality while not having to lower their quality to keep the price down to include electronics. I feel like most people prefer to put in their own electronics, even if they want to put in spektrum electronics. I have at least 6 combos of the 150a/2050kv motor that I'm not using. The exbs were a real hit for me in that category. The handbrake itself was a miss because it should've been on the battery size to allow much bigger cans, that really disappointed me. Was looking forward to putting in an 2028 but that idea was scrapped to keep the dumb handbrake.
BAM!! Earl with the truth as usual. Appreciate the honesty and keep it coming!
I agree with you 💯 RTR no matter how much does it cost it should be ready to run not fully checked and reassembled.
Thank you! It's great to finally see a real review that didn't just feel like a promo reel for this rc. If I were you I'd dump it, unless you feel it gives a vastly different experience to the Mojave.
Great and honest review Earl! 💯👍
You are so right about demanding quality while paying 800$ on an RC.
Keep it up with the good content man, love the way you focus on educate your viewers. 👏👏
Great video Earl you always do tell us the truth thanks for the info 👍👊💯
I'm glad I went with building my Tekno MT410 instead of the fire team, I still want one or maybe a mojave exb but now I see the quality of my tekno and I know it was built perfectly.
I had the same bearing blow on my talion after one 50 meter run across the field no jumping no wheelie. Was shocked now seeing it happen to you too. Arrma tough 🤬
Ive owned two Arrma's myself and neither one really impressed me. I did enjoy my limitless but finding the space to play with it was hard
Earl good vid thats why i love your content, you are honset about it anf explain yourself very good thank you and yes arrma definetly needs to start doing better qaulity control stay safe and later man keep up the good hard work 😎😎😎
Earl you are a saint in the RC world, I always appreciate how thoroughly you go through RC. Horizon should contact you for help.
Appreciate the support 👍👍
ive always had issues with losi LOL... mini 8 motor fried mid track...didn't even complete a lap..
Damn my k8s exb came with all the braces.. guess I got lucky Earl but I agree with everything you said 💯 finally no candy ass review!! Well done sir!
🙏👍👍
Very true honest opinion. Thanks I was tempted but may wait a while or until v2 as its sooooooo expensive. And I agree that influencesrs should always tell us how it really is 👍
Yes 👍 I noticed after all the preorder and first delivery is when we really see what commonly fails in an rc car but until the company makes its money we have to sit and wait for parts while all these defective rc’s sit at are houses 👍👍⚠️⚠️
Nice test...these companies do need to put these RC's together better sometimes they are messed up even before you run them!
Just ordered 2 t-shirts of yours on ebay 😀 Thanks for your Honest reviews & Great videos 💯💯💯
Thanks 🙏
I'd be pissed 😡 to that sucks for the price never should u have to take everything apart on a rtr to make it what it should be thanks for sharing this
Loved this honest review bro. Great bash and beat down. Shame it lost the mount screws and you are 100% correct in the lack of quality control. I do love the look of the Fireteam and was looking at buying one but I’m gonna go for the Mojave EXB instead. Thanks for the great vid bro and keep bashing. 😃👍🏼
Thanks 🙏
On Duperbash’s first video of the Fire team I did catch him say he swapped the hubs for Kraton EXB hubs. If I’m understanding right this is a Mojave chassis with kraton EXB arms and Talion hubs. Heard of many people building their own version of this car before Arrma released this car.
Yes he did I’m just not sure why he did it maybe had a bearing fail ? Or maybe just for a wider stance to clear the body rub ? Not sure
@@earlmoorhead5555 he did mention stance but the talion is lighter than the Kraton by a little bit. My thinking would be kraton hubs run a larger bearing.
@@earlmoorhead5555 just watched RCdude81 video and he blew the same bearings you did.
Yes he been breaking them but never said anything waited for me calling ppl out I’ve never had arrma hub bearings fail till this rc 👍👍
Yes building them with better parts and the right electronics 👍👍
Thanks 🙏
You hit on all the points. Man I stated all this in the Arrma group two weeks ago. Upon walking into my LHS & actually looking at this truck. I went straight to the group with my honest opinion of how I personally thought it wasn't worth the $800 pricepoint. They all accused me of just being a *HATER* 🙄 Good old Arrma RTR.... "Ready to Replace" 😤👎
I hate people like that. Seems most people on the forum are split. But usually we leave each other to our opinions and we move on.
Exactly.. Sending my arrma mojave as hard as I can almost every other day. There is no other RC that can beat it💪💟
I Like your take Paul C. 👍
