Like the music for each tip...my pet peeves are when someone posts a sign so small and hand written in small writing that you can't see driving by. Also when people are too lazy to price the items. Also when people don't take down signs months after the sale. I like to sell in multiples on .25 cents, so the only change I have to deal with is quarters. Like selling something for 2.50 as opposed to 2.77...thanx!

If you go to old navy and tell them your having a yard sale they will give you tons of hangers. I do it every year and I just give them the hangers lol

Your music choices for your tips I love them oh my gosh they just brought a smile to my face every time you played a music clip and it was perfect for the tip of course you were doing. My other tip and I don’t know if you said it because I’m driving while listening to this but is to haul it away afterwards or have a Goodwill or somebody come pick up everything that you don’t sell and take it away so that you don’t have to restore it that’s what I always do I always just load it up in my car and drive it straight over to the Goodwill so I don’t have to wait for two days of it being in my driveway cause that would drive me insane so I just loaded my car and take it away as it doesn’t sell!! Yes I always greet and chat as well!! It just helps them feel welcome so they don't mind staying longer to look around! I always take everything to Goodwill as well. Nothing comes back into my house!! That's why I rather come down on a price rather than needing to load it up! I also do a $1 bag at the end of the sale. You can fill up the bag and it only cost you $1!!
Exactly! Nothing comes back to mine either!! I too would rather come down in price! If it’s out there to sell I obviously don’t want it! I have had friends hire me to do their sales because they hate them and I love doing them and am good at them lol my husbands old boss wanted to have one but didn’t want to have one so I did all the work and he paid me 20% and he made $1000 at that sale! He was happy and i was happy because I had a paid vacation day at work for the day and I got paid from him lol he was shocked how much he made! We use our yard sale funds for fun stuff or things we have been wanting.
Hi Great video! Just a couple fyi's, not everyone can handle air fresheners. I'm allergic to many fragrances, so I would have to leave. Air your things out prior. Also music is great if it is not very loud, or head banging music. Thanks for the video :)
we never do dimes and nickles... if its not worth a quarter, it gets donated. Makes making change easy. Plus most people will spend a quarter on something so its not like you are losing money by listing things a quarter and up.

Hi, good tips, thank you. 2 questions... 1. What are your thoughts on having an area to make a little more money by selling water, coffee, breakfast/snack type foods. I ask this because my, now, 11 year old daughter enjoys helping and we tend to go that route by setting up a station where she can sell drinks and snacks. *side note, we also offer have a big bin or table near check out with “free with any purchase” of items we feel we may not even get 25 cents for 2. I to love having music being played in the background, problem I have come across with that is GENRE. I like a certain genre, this or that person may not...do you believe “Classic Rock mix”, “80’s hits mix” or something else is the way to go? Thank you
I think that’s a great idea and kids love working it. As far as music just choose something you like that’s appropriate with children around. People won’t be there long so it doesn’t have to be there style music. It’s just to add noise in the background.
I'm doing a sale next weekend during City Wide. My sisters and parents are bringing stuff over, too. My best garage sale I priced it all to sell and ended up with one box leftover at the end of the day. Then a lady pulled up as I was finishing up and asked if I had anything left, so I told her just that box. She asked how much I would charge for it because she was gathering stuff for a sale at their church. I just loaded it into her car and walked inside with NOTHING left over. BEST SALE EVER!! lol I also 100000% agree that you have to have every single thing tagged. I will walk away from a garage sale if I have to ask what the prices are. Because then it's super awkward to have to put things down, and I don't have a good poker face lol.
I mean, I was so impressed with myself that I kind of wanted to put it on my resume. Another one of my super successes at sales was when my great aunt passed away and we sold some of her things. She was a legit hoarder (but very clean, everything was new and in tubs), and I sold SO MUCH STUFF. HUNDREDS of figurines. I made my mom over $1000 in one day, and that was just the first one. We had a second and third sale and did just as well. We do a lot of things that you do, but I have to say that the liability sign is a new one. I even work in insurance! lol
It’s better to be safe than sorry. A lady faked an injury after she left. It was at a family members house. I even carried her items out and loaded her car. She was so nice and friendly until she sued my family member. 😳

Only way would be to have things priced in $1 increments at a garage sale or only take electronic payment through Venmo, PayPal or cash app if selling on Craigslist or facebook

Hello. Great video. Is September a good time for a garage sale. I have tons of women winter clothing. My Mom passed away in 2016 and she had a lot of very nice clothing. Many still with tags. And a lot of purses.
So what would be your rule of thumb in pricing? 10% / 20% of the retail price. I do my clothes for $1 but thinking I want to do clothes for 1 and my crap to. Of dresses for 1-3 dollars. I have so so many. List trying to figure out how I can get the most amount of money I can without over charging. I just recently bc a single mom after 23 years of marriage and husband physically assaulted me fracturing nose in 2 places and a concussion. None of the bills were paid. And I already do not make quite enough at work to cover all the Bill's. I already get amazing deals on my clothes that I have bought bc I very rarely shop retail. So the dresses I would be at least breaking even for what I paid for them. All name brand great shape. I have a few dept store real wood displays I would like to sale. Mot site what to price the bigger items at. I've thought the set them out there have them priced and if they dont sale then post on offer up or something like that. Idk

If we have extra gift bags (wedding, baby, old Christmas ones) that we haven’t reused already we use those for the garage sale bags too!
